Daniela Fernandez

With over 19 years' experience in Information Technology, Daniela Fernandez is a cyber security and analytics leader, who values integrity, diversity of thought, continuous learning, sense of achievement and a healthy work/life integration. 

Currently Daniela is the Head of Information Security at PayPal Australia where she focuses on making security a business enabler, helping PayPal to achieve their mission to democratise financial services while ensuring that PayPal Australia delivers secure products to customers and meets local regulatory requirements.

Before that, Daniela was Director of Cyber Risk and Strategy at Deloitte, serving the Internal Customer Services function. Prior to Deloitte, Daniela worked in multiple roles at CBA, across protective services, intelligence team, fraud detection and cyber security. Her last role at CBA was Executive Manager, Business Information Security Officer.

Daniela is one of the Sydney chapter leads for AWSN, actively encouraging women to pursue a career in security. With her technical skills, personal motivation and experience Daniela is committed to break stereotypes, promote diversity in cyber security and empower talented women in technology.

Daniela is part of the Australia CXO Tribe Steerco Committee, fostering cross industry collaboration and knowledge sharing across CISOs / cyber security leaders and one of the Governing body leads of the Evanta Sydney CISO Community. Daniela’s contributions to the security community have been recognised in the industry.

In 2022 Daniela was a finalist for the 2022 AISA awards under the category of Cyber Security Professional of the year and one of the winners for the 2022 CSO30 Awards. In 2023 she took out top place in the Leadership category of the CSO30 Awards.

Daniela has a bachelor’s degree in computer science and software engineering and a Master of Information Technology in systems security. She also holds multiple industry certifications including CISM, CRISC, CDPSE and CFE.

COVID-19 Event Attendance Compliance

By registering to attend an ACS in person event you are agreeing to the below terms and conditions

  • If an attendee is displaying flu or cold like symptoms in the days leading up to the event and therefore is not able to attend, ACS will refund the registration fee.
  • If an attendee comes to an event and is displaying flu or cold like symptoms they will be asked to leave
  • We ask all ACS members to respect the social distancing guidelines, if an attendee repeatedly disregards these guidelines, they may be asked to leave
  • ACS reserves the right to cancel the event within 24 hours' notice if either the speaker or the event host has advised us that they are exhibiting flu or cold like symptoms
  • All attendees must provide a valid phone number and email address to be contacted on if there is reason to notify about a possible COVID-19 exposure
