IMPORTANT NOTICE: You may have come across a screenshot that has recently gone viral of an article bearing my name and photo allegedly published on The Conversation. That screenshot is photoshopped, a fake produced and shared on Twitter by an anti-vax conspiracy theorist to spread misinformation. The fact that it contains anti-vax propaganda and that the publication date is in the future (6th June 2023) should easily give away that it's a fabrication. I am not sharing the link to the tweet in question to avoid giving the individuals in question any visibility. To reiterate, I never wrote an article called "THEY KNEW: why didn't the unvaccinated do more to warn us?". As a scientist, I firmly believe that vaccinations (including those against COVID-19) are an essential preventive measure, and that their effectiveness in preventing transmissible diseases largely outweighs any rare unwanted effects associated with their use. My list of real publications can be accessed in my ResearchGate (https://lnkd.in/eNkgr3bW) or Google Scholar (https://lnkd.in/ekdbgrJi) page. If you come across the fabricated screenshot on Twitter or elsewhere, please report it to the site administrators. The irony of dedicating your life to exposing and tackling scientific misinformation, and being proved right by someone using your name and image to promote the worst kind of anti-scientific nonsense...

I think all that know you would not believe the tweet that circulated. But it is important to deny reporting that is false and call it out. In debates with anti-vax people, I have been stripped of my PhD, told that my publication record is rubbish, and been accused of being a money grabbing stoolie for Pharma. This is all disinformation designed to confuse, and is not helped by some medics and politicians. Keep on telling the truth.
