In response to demand, the newly-created Steepletop Residency is a self-directed, juried, month-long stay available to anyone involved in a creative pursuit/project offered from April-November; cost is $4000.  
Designed for those in need and desirous of time and space with the support of a creative and scholarly interdisciplinary cohort in a nurturing and inspirational setting, this opportunity includes groceries and chef-prepared communal dinners as well as private bedrooms and studios, shared bathroom (usually with one other resident), living/dining space, fully-equipped kitchen, laundry room, workstation (printer and desktop PC), B&W darkroom and access to the Alumni and Nancy Graves Memorial libraries.
The Composer's Suite features an upright Yamaha U-1 piano.

VISUAL ART: 6 images of individual works (JPG,TIFF,GIFF) and up to 4 additional detail/installation images.  Include an IMAGE LIST: one page maximum, title/dimensions/date/medium.

COMPOSING
REQUIREMENTS
A. ARTIST STATEMENT — One page maximum, may be single-spaced, 11-12 point font
Tell us about your work and what you would like to focus on while in residence. Jurors appreciate understanding who you are as a composer and about your creative process. Please do NOT include biographical information on this document (due to our blind jury).
B. WORK SAMPLES — 2-3 compositions, 15 minutes maximum + up to 3 scores
MUSIC -- MP3 files are preferred, excerpts are fine;
SCORES -- must be in PDF format.  It is acceptable if you do not include a score with the application.
VIDEO -- Only if highly relevant to your work.  We cannot take high resolutions videos due to the upload time.  Low rez videos accepted up to 2 minutes.  Film score videos not accepted.
Please do NOT include your nam with the work sample. (due to our blind jury).

E. NAMED FELLOWSHIPS -- If you would like to be considered for one of our named fellowships, please indicate your eligibility. Please note that YOU ARE NOT REQUIRED to fulfill any of these to be considered for a Core Residency. While we continuously seek to provide stipends to offset travel/materials/expenses, at this time very few of these opportunities include that funding.
CHARM CITY FELLOW AND BEYOND: Awarded to TWO applicants yearly (any discipline), from MD, PA, D.C., NJ, VA & VI. Preference given to Baltimore/BIPOC applicants. Includes travel stipend.
INSTITUTE OF AMERICAN INDIAN ARTS FELLOW: Awarded to ONE applicant annually who identifies as Native American. (Note: at this time, there is no stipend attached to this fellowship.)
NANCY GRAVES FELLOW: Awarded to ONE applicant whose prior work is archive-based (or a creator with this desire) that "mines" the Nancy Graves Memorial Library collection at Steepletop as a site for research and inspiration for the creation of a unique piece. (Note: at this time, there is no stipend attached to this fellowship.)
VINCENT PRIZE FELLOW: Awarded to TWO applicants who identify as trans*/genderqueer; may include stipend, amount dependent on funding. (Specifically, creators whose gender is nonbinary and/or fluid as eligible for this Prize.) For more information, go to: NFG-VINCENT PRIZE

  REQUIREMENTS

Please do NOT include your name or biographical information on this document (due to our blind jury).  Your application will automatically be assigned a number.
B. WORK SAMPLES — Up to SIX work samples (JPG/TIFF/GIFF) of INDIVIDUAL PIECES
  You may include up to THREE additional detail/installation shots (JPG/TIFF/GIFF)
  Please include an IMAGE LIST with title, dimensions, date and medium -- ONE page maximum.
  For video/installations/performances/sound works: FIVE minutes maximum.  Video must be uploaded, no links to websites, youtube or vimeo will be accepted. We do not have specifics on video resolutions, but prefer lower resolutions due to upload time.
  Note:  There is a darkroom available on the campus for photographers.
