Professor James Hayton appointed as Vice Provost and Faculty Chair of Social Sciences

Professor James Hayton (Warwick Business School) will be taking on the role of Vice-Provost and Faculty Chair of Social Sciences from 15 March 2024.

Our Provost, Professor Emma Flynn commented:

"I am delighted that James will be taking up the role as Vice-Provost and Faculty Chair of Social Sciences. He is bringing a wealth of experience and knowledge, alongside his strong academic leadership, which will be key in our aim to deliver world-class teaching and research. I look forward to working closely with James to progress key strategic initiatives in an exciting time for the Faculty of Social Sciences."

James said:

"I believe these challenging times of technological transformation and social upheaval represent an important moment for the social sciences. We have a significant role to play, helping support societal adaptation to these disruptions.

I am excited to work with leaders across the Faculty in driving Warwick forward as a world leading source of expertise and thought leadership in Social Science."

About James

James Hayton, PhD (Georgia State University) joined WBS as a Professor of Innovation and Human Resource Management in 2012. He served as Pro Dean in WBS since 2017. He is a Senior Fellow at the Institute for the Future of Work (IFOW.org). Professor Hayton is former Dean at Rutgers University (US) School of Management and Labor Relations.

His areas of expertise are the management of people and organizations to build capacity for innovation, entrepreneurship and strategic renewal. He teaches on these topics in the WBS Executive MBA and executive education programs. Author of over 100 articles, reports and books in both innovation and human resource management, his work has been recognised with several awards and is rated as one of the worlds top 2% of researchers by citations.
