Entrepreneurial ecosystems´ exponential growth. Historical transformation or rhetorical device? Entrepreneurial ecosystems are the new industrial policy to take a lead amid globalization and exponential technological change. Yet, the question of whether they represent historical transformations or rhetorical devices remains unanswered. For example, we still do not know why the attention to Entrepreneurial Ecosystems grows exponentially, while similar phenomena such as Industrial Districts decline or regional clusters grow linearly. In this article, just published in the Journal of Technology Transfer Springer Nature Group, David Audretsch and I disentangle the origin of entrepreneurial ecosystems, their key attributes, and their potential to lead the fourth industrial revolution. It seems that to avoid jargon and falling on new policy fashions, we should combine the original historical Oikos -the territorial embedded household within a polis- with the new entrepreneurial drive -entrepreneurship within regional systems of innovation, production and exchange. Muy interesante artículo, creo que uno de los drivers de esta tendencia podría estar relacionada con las nuevas relaciones laborales empresa-trabajador.
