PineCone is accepting applications for a Community Programs Coordinator to help our efforts to present, promote and preserve bluegrass, old time, gospel and other forms of traditional music in North Carolina. This is a half-time position (20-hours per week) and is responsible for all aspects of PineCone’s education and participatory events. Those include, but are not limited to, school programs, bluegrass jam sessions, workshops, square dances, summer camps and other fun opportunities that inspire people to play old-time, bluegrass and string band music.

Primary responsibilities include:

⮚     Develop, execute, and maintain community and school events.

⮚     Manage venues, musicians and volunteers.

⮚     Measure success and assess viability of community programs.

⮚     Other duties as assigned.

⮚     Strong organizational skills.

⮚     Positive, inclusive, and forward thinking.

⮚     Self-starter, ability to fully “own” programs.

⮚     Ability to related to children, elders and quirky banjo players.

⮚     Passion for bluegrass, old time, folk and other forms of music rooted in our community.

Compensation/Workplace:

This is new position, designed to start as half-time with room to expand. Pay is $20/hour to start, with an automatic increase to $25/hour after six (6) months of successful employment.

Remote work is possible, however, all of PineCone’s current community events happen in Raleigh. The successful candidate will need to be able to attend most, if not all, of the events.

Desk space will be available at our offices in the Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Raleigh. Here’s a video tour of our workplace. We are a mission-driven, small team that works closely together to support one another doing quality work that we all believe in.

About PineCone:

PineCone is the Piedmont Council of Traditional Music. It was founded in 1984 by a group of friends who wanted to bring traditional music and dance down to Raleigh. Now in its 40th year as a 501c3 nonprofit, PineCone is a Resident Company of the Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts and is the producer of the festival IBMA Bluegrass Live powered by PNC. The popular festival is one of Raleigh’s signature events drawing 100s of thousands of people and generating significant economic impact for Wake County.
