VETO SB 191

SB 191 on postsecondary incentive funding was amended and passed on the very last day of the session. The amended language now says results for students from underrepresented minority groups cannot be considered when those dollars are distributed to Kentucky’s public universities and community and technical colleges.

SB 191 was a constructive bill until this amendment was added, but the amendment process happened far too late and far too fast to allow public input. The resulting bill weakens higher education’s efforts to ensure that students of all backgrounds are fully welcomed and empowered in public higher education.
