KTM Komuter to offer more train services to Batu Caves from Feb 4-6 for Thaipusam

KUALA LUMPUR: KTM Komuter will be offering non-stop train services for three days and two nights to Batu Caves for the Thaipusam celebrations starting from Feb 4-6.

The extra services will be for the Sungai Gadut-Batu Caves and Pelabuhan Klang-Batu Caves lines.

Additionally, 26 stations will also be operational for 24 hours during the same period. Thaipusam falls on Feb 5 this year.

Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Rani Hisham Samsudin said some 182,000 passengers were expected to use the Komuter service during the Thaipusam festive period.

“Train operations in the Klang Valley on Feb 4 to 6 will follow the weekday train timetable, while additional trains will operate after the end of scheduled train operation hours with a one-hour frequency.

“In total, there will be 56 additional trains on top of the 128 trains during the regular service each day,” he said during a press conference today (Jan 26).

He added that some 300 KTM personnel would be on duty to ensure optimal operation.

Stations that will operate around the clock include Batu Caves, Sungai Gadut, Senawang, Taman Wahyu, Kampung Batu, Batu Kentonmen, Sentul, Bank Negara, Kuala Lumpur, KL Sentral, Seremban, Nilai, Kajang, Bandar Tasek Selatan, Shah Alam, Pelabuhan Klang and Klang.

Mohd Rani, however, added that there would be no additional services for the Tanjung Malim- Segambut route.

“It is also mandatory for all passengers to wear their masks when using the services, as required by the government.”

Cashless payment via Touch ‘n Go and Komuter Link cards should be used during the Thaipusam festive period, while cash payments would only be accepted for concession fares offering a 50% discount for children aged between two and 12 12, senior citizens and the disabled.
