KUALA LUMPUR: There is no compromise from the government towards any form of corruption or wastage, says Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.
The Deputy Prime Minister said the country was currently in the reformation and rejuvenation phase noting that prioritising integrity and good governance were among the main pillars of the government.
“Through both integrity and good governance, the government can also ensure the prosperity of Malaysia and its people,” he said in his officiating speech at the Integrity, Governance and Anti-Corruption Awards (AIGA 2022) at the Malaysian Integrity Institute here on Wednesday (Jan 18).
He added that corporate organisations too should be committed towards practising integrity and good governance through strengthening internal measures alongside preventing graft.
“Both integrity and good governance can also spark companies’ productivity while ensuring optimal economic growth.
“This spurs foreign and domestic companies to invest in Malaysia while also creating more job opportunities for the people,” he said.
Integrity, Fadillah said, did not only mean fighting corruption but also developing an excellent work culture.
“This includes efforts such as being punctual for work, disseminating accurate information and fulfilling promises, among others.
“Practising integrity also avoids one from damaging the reputations of themselves, their organisations and country,” he said.
Fadillah said government officials, industry players and society should also place a focus on accountability and transparency.
“Integrity must be the country’s administration priority in decision making while actively responding to the needs of its people.
“This is the pillar of our unity government,” he said.
