Experience Details
This Shizuoka Tea Farm Tour with Factory Visit and Tea Tasting is a no-holds-barred tea experience in a prefecture that’s famous for delicious, premium green tea. With a climate and high-quality water that are conducive to delicious tea, Shizuoka Prefecture is responsible for over 40% of Japan’s tea production and has a history of tea making that dates back to the 1200s. During this Shizuoka Tea Farm Tour, you will travel to the mountains of Shizuoka, where the air is crisp and expansive fields of green tea spread before you. You will begin with a tour around the tea farm, with dazzling views of Shizuoka’s mountain ranges from high above, and experience tea leaf picking. You will also enjoy a tasting of several varieties of Japanese tea. If the tea farmers are available, you will also get a chance to meet and speak with them. Also on the agenda is a visit to a local tea processing factory to learn more about how tea is made. As tea farming is seasonal, the tea factory is not fully operational every day of the year. Please note that the factory is also closed on Wednesdays and weekends. If the factory is not operating, instead you will have an educational session and have another tea-tasting session!
