DEMOREST, Ga. - The Piedmont women's basketball team used a furious fourth quarter rally to overtake Maryville 56-45 on Senior Day at Cave Arena.

With a cold shooting first three quarters, the Lady Lions found themselves trailing 39-30 with 7:47 remaining. But from there, it was all Lions, as they outscored the Scots 26-6 the rest of the way to take the win.

This marks Piedmont's fourth straight win over Maryville overall and fifth straight at home in the regular season.

At the conclusion of the contest, seniors LAKEN STILES, CARA CRUMP, KYRIAKI TAYLOR, COLBY REED and NAKIYAH WASHINGTON were honored for their contributions to the program.

Reed was one of just two Lady Lions in double figures, leading the squad with 17 points on five made three-pointers. DESTINY DEETZ pitched in 10 points and eight rebounds off the bench while junior LU WOOLFOLK played a nice game as well, with seven points and a team-high five assists.

The first half was a defensive struggle with both teams coming at under 20 percent from the field over the first 20 minutes.

Neither team was able to separate in a back-and-forth third quarter that saw the Scots carry a one-point lead to the fourth.

Maryville appeared to take control of the game, with a quick 8-0 run to start the fourth quarter. However, the Lady Lions would not be denied, using their patented lockdown defense to fuel an offensive explosion and comeback.

Up next, Piedmont will begin its postseason run, as it earned the No. 3 seed for the upcoming Collegiate Conference of the South Tournament. The Lady Lions are slated to host No. 6 seed Huntingdon on Wednesday, Feb. 22 at Cave Arena.

TURNING POINT:
- The Lady Lions outscored the Scots 26-6 over the final 7:47 of the contest to run away with the win.

STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
- Reed's five three-pointers tied a season best for the senior.
