Framed Autograph Letter Signed

Sussex: August 16, 1946.

Price: $2,500.00

Unbound. Two-page Autograph Letter Signed from T.S. Elliot framed with a photograph of the poet, both measuring approximately 4½" x 6½", in a double-sided gilt frame, measuring 15¾" x 12¾". Unexamined out of the frame, appears fine. A letter sent by Eliot to Cecilia Ady, a friend and historian at the University of Oxford, written on August 16, 1946, sometime after his return from America to see both his brother and his close friend Frank Morley. A domestic letter following up on a possibly lost package of soap (given to him for Ady by Morley's wife Christina and sent to an address provided by publisher Enid Faber). Eliot's concern is likely genuine for an item much in demand following years of wartime shortages. A letter that sheds insight into his friend circle and his concerns for them.
