Augustana Women’s Hoops Set for New Years Eve Contest at Wayne State

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Augustana women's basketball team hits the road on Saturday to face the Wildcats of Wayne State at 1:30 p.m.

Scouting the Wildcats
Wayne State currently holds a 9-2 overall record with a 5–2 record in the NSIC. Last time out, the Wildcats defeated Winona State, 77-68, and Upper Iowa, 77-70. Those contests were played Dec. 17 and 18, respectfully.

Wayne State is led in scoring by Lauren Zacharius who is averaging 17.3 points a contest. Zacharias also leads the Wildcats in rebounds and assists per game with 5.0 rebounds and 3.1 assists. She saw a season high 10 rebounds against SMSU on Dec. 3. 

Augustana and Wayne State matched up in the NSIC opener on Nov. 22. That contest saw AU run away with a 93-74 victory led by Aislnn Duffy's double-double of 19 points and 12 rebounds. Zacharius led WSC with 12 points and was the only Wildcat in double-figure scoring. 

The Vikings
Augustana returns to action following its three-game homestand a weekend ago. The Vikings saw victories over NAIA opponent Mount Marty, 81-45, and NSIC wins against Winona State, 73-57, and Upper Iowa, 79-56. 

The Vikings are led by Duffy who collected her first triple-double of her career against Mount Marty with 11 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists. Adding on to her career milestone weekend, Duffy surpassed her 1,000th career-point as a Viking in Saturday's contest against Winona State becoming the 31st Viking in program history to reach the milestone. Duffy averages 16.2 points a contest while collecting 8.8 rebounds per game and averages 5.2 assists. 

Jennifer Aadland leads Augustana in blocks averaging 1.6 per game while also leading the squad in field goal percentage with 57.1 percent. 

Kenzie Rensch continues to lead the Vikings as well as the NSIC in steals and steals per game. Rensch has collected 41 steals while averaging 3.2 per game this season. She currently is ranked second in the nation in steals while ranking ninth in steals per game. 

One Last Thing
Lauren Sees is just 11 points shy from surpassing 1,000 career-points as a Viking. Sees would be the 32nd Viking in program history to achieve this milestone.
