Cape May - How is it possible to allow Chris Bezaire, who was charged with contempt by violating Domestic Rights Act and driving while under the influence, to run for council? See for yourself. Police records are public records.

Moderator's Note:
The Herald contacted Bezaire, who stated, "I expected those who support my opponent would eventually stoop to this level - since they can't seem to win on the issues, they've decided to try to win on innuendo. Unfortunately for them though, my past is an open book and I fully own up to my mistakes just as much as my successes. While I am the person connected to those charges - neither of which resulted in a conviction - I am far from being that same person today. Like many other people - including some current Council members - I have made mistakes in my past. But rather than let them define me, I chose instead to learn from them, and see them as motivation for becoming a better person - someone who as the President of the Cape County Board of Realtors has earned the confidence, trust and respect of his professional peers; and who as a candidate for City Council, seeks to give back to the city that four generations of my family have loved and served. I'm saddened that someone feels compelled to attack my character and personal life since they clearly feel my campaign, and what I stand for poses a very strong threat to them or the candidate they support. I will continue positively moving forward with my campaign and look forward to serving the citizens of Cape May when elected."
