Several stores have announced they'll limit the number of people in its stores in the first week of April.
Starting April 3, Costco will allow no more than two people to enter a warehouse with each membership card, the company announced on its website Wednesday.
This is a temporary change; Costco said it's for the safety of customers and the safety of its employees.
Costco also updated its hours for members age 60 or older, and for those with physical impairments. Every Tuesday through Thursday, the warehouse and its pharmacies will open from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m., only for those members.
Costco updated its daily weekday closing hours, too, and now the closing time is 6:30 p.m. The company's gas stations will open at 7:30 a.m. daily and close at 7 p.m. on weekdays, and 6:30 p.m. on weekends.
As a reminder, Costco has also implemented return restrictions on the following items:
- Toilet paper
- Bottled water
- Sanitizing wipes
- Paper towels
- Rice
- Disinfecting spray

Target announced that beginning April 4, they will monitor and, when needed, limit the total number of people inside based on the store's square footage.
Target said that a team member will help guests into a designated waiting area outside the stores with social distancing markers, while others will guide guests inside the store to keep things moving quickly.

Walmart also announced that beginning April 4, they will limit the number of customers who can be in a store at once. Stores will not allow more than five customers for every 1,000 square feet at a given time, roughly 20% of a store's capacity.
To manage the restriction, associates will mark a queue at a single-entry door and direct arriving customers there where they will be admitted one-by-one and counted. Once the stores reach capacity, customers will be admitted inside on a "1-out-1-in" basis.
