Overview

Delivering tournament caliber performance for the most discerning anglers, the Shimano Zodias Spinning Rod is redesigned and even better than before. Featuring proven Hi-Power X blank construction, the Shimano Zodias Spinning Rods resist blank twisting and ovalization, which creates more accurate casting, greater strength, and excellent sensitivity. The new Zodias series also features a Carbon Monocoque handle that is mated with the CI4+ reel seat, which provides an uninterrupted connection between bait and angler with increased sensitivity.

Premium Fuji Alconite K Semi-Micro Guides and a Fuji SiC tip help reduce weight and also provide many of the benefits of micro guides, while still allowing knots to pass through unimpeded. Available in actions and tapers that have been designed to facilitate maximum casting distance and accuracy, while also providing the optimal action to your lures, the Shimano Zodias Spinning Rods are ideal for any finesse fishing application.

Features:
-Hi-Power X
-Carbon Monocoque
-CI4+ Reel Seat

Comments: Perfect for me ! Lightweight, sensitive, action great for the lure weight, durable.....I could not ask for more. Great rod !

From: Major Meticulous: Brevard County Florida 9/22/23

Comments: Good: Pretty, light, and castes well. Not so good: reel lock ring does not stay tight and its not very sensitive.

From: Unknown: 9/18/23

Comments: Super Rods !! These rods are a pleasure to use. They are light weight, cast great, have just the right actions and are durable. Could not ask for a better spinning rod.

From: Major Meticulous: East Central Florida 9/12/23

Comments: I am extremely critical when it comes to reviewing my new fishing equipment. I recently just purchased the 7'2 med light plus.4-8lb. It's everything all the positive reviews say it is. Excellent drop shot rod! THE TWO THINGS THAT REALLY STICK OUT TO ME IS HOW THE ROD LOADS UP ON HOOK SET, AND RESPONDS THROUGH THE BATTLE. In my opinion, this is a perfect spinning rod for its line class. I have it paired up with a Vanford 2500, 10lb. power pro, and 6lb. leader. This is the best spinning rod combo I have ever fished! After the first day of use, I ordered the 7'6 med 5-10lb.. I truly hope the rod quality will hold up. This rod is a strong recommded buy!!!!

From: OHEIM: FOLSOM, CA 7/20/23

Comments: The construction on this rod is flawless! I never bought a rod this perfect for finesse fishing it blows my mind. Light action but works well on my favorite drop shot and jig techniques, it does everything what I want it too. It is very fragile because it's highly created with the most sensitive and best materials so I will take care of it.

From: The Ethen Yang: North Carolina 7/19/23

Comments: I've fished a lot of different rods thru out the years and the Zodias line of rods has to be my favorite, extremely lightweight, sensitive, and feels great in the hand. Highly recommend. Try one you won't be sorry.

From: Erick: Idaho 4/28/23

Comments: The 7 light/fast is the most versatile rod I've ever used. From catching crappie and perch with a 1/16oz. Jig head and a 2" plastic, to throwing a 3/8oz. Lipless crank bait for walleye, this rod can do it all. It is a very sensitive rod, but has the backbone to feel those light taps in 30+ mph wind. Pair your Zodias with a Shimano Vanford 2500 or 3000 and you'll have an edge over everyone else.

From: Tyler: Missouri 4/27/23

Comments: Bought the 7' ML X-fast spinning rod for drop shots. First fish I caught was a 4lb large mouth. Rod handled it great. Caught a few more throughout the day and I couldn't ask for anything more. What an upgrade from the SLX. Rod is light, and sensitive and looks really good with the red accents. Highly recommend it to anybody considering the purchase.

From: Juan : 3/4/23

Comments: Excellent rod in all respects ! Light weight, casts well, very sensitive, durable and a very good value.

From: Dusty: Grant, Florida, USA 1/13/23

Comments: It is so choice. If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up. These rods are extra sensitive and strong with a cross weave on it for strength. I first fell in love with the ZDS70MD 7ft med for SMALL jerkbaits and drop shoting. It fulfills both of those roles exceptionally well. You can't beat the med for small winter jerkbaiting, I can make jerkbaits move ooohhh so slowly(while still walking) it's like cheating!. I needed a bit stronger one for larger fish and larger baits. That's where theZDS70MHA 7FT Med Hvy came in. It is as choice as the Med with exact same guide placement and feel(Same length rod butt also) I caught stripers and steelhead along with bass on my med but now I have the strength to power larger fish and throw bigger baits. Two is twice as nice in this case.

From: Michael: Sacramento 12/29/22

Comments: I'm a long-time user of St.. Croix rods but a friend mentioned the Shimano Zodias medium light to me so I decided to give it a try. Wow, am I impressed! VERY lightweight and super sensitive, yet has plenty of backbone to handle the snook and redfish I target in Southwest Florida. Well worth the price.

From: RB: Florida 8/28/22

Comments: I've always been satisfied with my ugly sticks, but thought I'd try a higher end to see what I thought about them. I ordered the 7 for light fast to try some finesse fishing. While waiting for the back order I found a 7 foot medium by accident and picked it up. I love the Zodias they're lighter and more responsive. I'm glad I made the investment.

From: Scott: Unknown 8/17/22

Comments: Has been an excellent rod so far for me. I have heard that they are quite brittle and the tips can break from mismanagement, however. I haven't had that issue for the first month I've had it. It's very sensetive and the Medium strength has a decent backbone in it.

From: Conner: Alabama 6/25/22

Comments: I bought the 7ft Medium-light fast action Zodias spinning rod over a year ago. It is by far the best spinning rod I have ever used. I pretty much always have a dropshot rigged on it, and it is the perfect rod for that technique. This year by best smallmouth caught on this rod (all on 6lbs test) were 5.33lbs, 4.67lbs, and 4lbs. Rob held up like a champ. I like the medium light because I can play big fish on light line without worrying about it snapping and because it doesn't unload as easily the fish don't come off. I highly recommend this rod

From: Bradley: Sammamish, WA 11/5/21

Comments: I purchased a med/hvy  and it is a great rod with plenty of backbone and looks good. It's a great rod for the price. The staff at T/W are always a pleasure to work with.

From: Unknown: 10/16/21

Comments: I love this new Zodias. I'm using the 7'2" Medium for a do it all type spinning rod. I have thrown everything from 1/16 crappie jigs up to 1/4 oz neds/micro jigs. The rod is very balanced, extremely lightweight and has great sensitivity. Using a 2.8" paddle tail on a micro swimbait head, you can feel the bait pulsing so much it feels like a chatterbait. All around great rod for the money.

From: Dustin: Lake Havasu City, AZ 10/7/21

Comments: This is one awesome looking rod! lol. So cool looking in the sunlight. The whole blank has a very neat design. The rod seat is comfortable. I'm half and half on the cork vs the foam but this one has a nice low profile. The butt end is neat looking but it has some sharp edges that will light you up if you rest it on your side under your arm for extra hook setting power. I got a nice little rash from it. Speaking of power, I have the 6'9 medium with a 2000 Vanford and it has solid, reliable hook-setting power. You can really lay into it. I did have to bend out the eyelets just a little to get it to cast perfectly smooth. I like the hook keeper farther up the rod :/ I have fished st. Croix rods most my life, premier series. It's all I have to compare the sensitivity to. If my premier series is a 10, I give this rod a 9. It's great. Pick one up!

From: Martin: Indy, IN 9/10/21

Comments: I bought this rod in the 7' light fast and paired it with a vanford 2500 spooled up with 10-4 fireline for walleye. I fish in rivers and lakes both and this rod is an absolute dream. It handles 1/16-1/4 oz. jigs and I've thrown 3/8 oz. lipless baits and the rod handles them all very well with great sensitivity. From jigs to crank baits and slip bobber rigs to drop shots, this rod does it all.

From: Unknown: 6/23/21

Comments: I bought a 7ft med light zodias paired with shimano vanford 2500. I fished a kayak bass tournament. I used this rod as a ned rig rod. I had 6lb seaguar invisix flurocarbon line tied on the rod. I caught my limit on a ned rig plus a few bonus northern pikes (small) and a 30+ inch tiger muskie of all things. I was surprised I didn't break off with the muskie on line. The sensitivity on this rod feels like it should be worth more than just the $209 price point. I can feel the rocks, the grass and everything in between. As for the tournament, I finished 5th. Overall if you're deciding on whether or not to buy this rod. don't wait, just get it before it's gone.

From: Unknown: Minnesota 6/21/21

Comments: Had this rod for 1 week. On my very first fish, a 2 pound Peacock Bass, it snapped in half.

From: Garrett: United States 5/16/21

Comments: Feel is really good first time out caught a 2.14 Oz crappie, pleased with the rod.

From: Dean: Unknown 4/2/21

Comments: After purchasing my first Zodias Rod, I fell in love and had to order another. These Rods are priced great for the quality rods they are.

From: Tracy: DIXON 3/22/21

Comments: This rod is the best $200 price point rod I have  ever used. It's very light and it's very sensitive. Great strength as well. I'll be buying more soon.

From: Scott: Southampton, MS 3/14/21

Comments: I have 8 zodias  rods.....love them..i just bought 4 of the new ones..very nice...i love the handle..they all have a ci4 or vanford  reel. Been using the old ones for a few years....my favorite go to rod

From: Joseph: Chattanooga, TN 3/7/21

Comments: After owning 5 Original models I finally got my hands on 3 2020 Zodias. All of them are light, more sensitive and feel great like they should for $200. I do own an expride and some SLX rods but overall this is my go to series of rods. Shimano did an amazing job. I finally got my 1st 7' "Light" in spinning and paired it with a vanford 3000. Amazing combo. If you're on the fence just buy one.

From: Jed: Rohnert Park 1/3/21

Comments: I've said for a few years the zodias is the best $200 rod on the market .. with the updated version I'm still sticking with my opinion. All the little upgrades were positive ones .. if I could only pick one reason on why I believe these are the best $200 rods .. it would be strength.. these rods are near indestructible yet light for $200 .. they pair up just beautiful with the new vanford .. it's a combo any angler will admire & envy .. spend the $450 for the combo .. will be one you'll want to keep for life

From: Dean: Las Vegas 12/23/20

Comments:  Love this rod, very light very responsive, feels every little bite. It's my go-to rod for drop shot neko rig and Ned rig and small swim bait lure.. nothing much to say just pick one up and hopefully you will love this Rod just as I did.

From: Bay: Conroe 9/26/20

Comments: Have many pre 2020 Zodias spinning rods in 6-8 ml and med which are my go to finesse rods, Got a new version in med. and have fished it a little. Let me say up front I much prefer the older version. New version has a larger diameter blank, one additonal guide, half inch longer foregrip, larger diameter reel lockdown nut, has the monocoque handle and weighs slightly more. All of these are negatives IMO. After having fished the new version I feel the older version is a more sensitive rod. Only positive for me on the new version is the hook keeper. The new rod is very well made and lots of folks will love it. However it's not for me. Wish I could find some more of the previous models but alas, none out there.

From: Uknown: 9/6/20

Comments: 6'9" ML Zodias spinning rod:

This is my first Shimano rod that I have purchased. This rod is very sensitive, I have been fishing 1/8oz and 3/16oz shaky heads two times this week, and have caught over 30 bass with it. I can feel the slightest taps, and every bottom bounce. The reel seat, and grip are really solid and comfortable. The guides are high quality, and perfectly straight on the blank. Over all, this is a great rod for shaky heads, heavier ned rigs, light T rigs, and jigs. One thing I'll point out about the power of the rod, it's pretty stiff, and the line rating feels off to me. It feels more like a rod rated for 6lb-12lb line than a 4lb-8lb rated rod. It's definitely on the stiffer side of every ML rods I have used. It's great for hook sets, casting, and feeling bites. The taper is slightly slower than other fast action rods too. I love fishing with it.
