pretty cute, if ultimately forgettable. this was a really safe contemporary romance about a hockey player and a straight laced daughter of a banker. i appreciated the development of both characters and the dirty talk was pretty decent. but there wasn't a whole lot here in the way of depth.

if you're looking for a breezy way to spend a few hours on a beach, this might be up your alley.

"I don't want to miss any more."
Mira Lyn Kelly is my favorite romance writer. No doubt about it, hands down. Her books feel like coming home. Her heroes make you swoon, and her heroines make you wish you were them - this is the case with Wade and Harlow.

And Mira knocks it out of the park again with this book!

"This is a man who tries. Though why he tries so hard with me, I don't know."
*I was not ready for the ultimate scorching-but-oh-so-sweet swoonfest that is Wade Grady!* He's driven, he's always fought for and gone after whatever he wanted. He's a good guy, and a dirty talker. Wade is downright perfect.

"I don't walk outside the lines. Ever. But for some reason this man brings out a part of me that wants to grab hold of the adventure and just say yes."
Harlow's the reserved, cautious type. She's an overachiever who's put her career first, and she's driven, just like him. But unlike him, she doesn't take risks. She does what's expected of her, just like she's always done. But now she's ready to take a leap.

Wade needs a fake girlfriend for his brother's wedding, and he can't find one. Then they meet at a bar with a few friends, and she ends up agreeing to be his date and going with him. I mean, what's 10 days, right? And maybe she can learn to let herself go a bit by doing something she'd typically never do.
Except 10 days can either not be enough, be a lifetime, or be life-changing. In this case, and for these two, all of the above.

What started out as something fake develops into something that is so very real. The small touches, the glances, their talks, and every little thing between them showing there's something going on... it was heartwarming and so sweet.
The chemistry between them... you know Mira Lyn Kelly NEVER disappoints!

"Thought I was losing you," (...)
"No."
Not when it feels like, for the first time in my life, I'm not missing what matters."

If you're wondering what sets these two apart from other couples out there? When they're in, they're all in. And that's just special.

"'...And then I met you. And you showed me what I was missing. And I want it. I want a life. I want love. And most of all, I want you.'"
What it comes down to for me is always what the book made me feel, and it made me smile, and get all emotional and outright happy. The good guy that is Wade needed his own good girl, and she needed someone to show her that her life could be so much more!

A downright perfect fourth book for an amazing series!

5 - "Be the bunny..." Stars!

We return to the Slayers Hockey series, with book four; Dirty Talker giving us Wade and Harlow’s story. I love this series so much and with the main trope in this one being a fake relationship I knew it was going to be another winner right from the start.

I never say yes… I never do the impulsive thing… The fun thing.

This entire book is Mira, once again writing at her absolute best, this series as a whole is up there in my top three favourites of the last couple of years, and it’s because I laughed so hard at points I had to stop reading to compose myself. The sexy times left me fanning myself, and the dual POV makes you love Wade and Harlow together and as individuals equally.

"You’ve got skills…"

Another absolute winner, I love this series, I just lose myself when I read these books in the best way, and that’s because of how awesome their authors writing is. I rarely get this excited about a book or series anymore, but I literally start smiling as soon as I see each instalment hits my kindle, and I don’t usually stop until well after I have finished reading.

"You’re a pretty great fake date."

ARC generously provided by the author, in exchange for the above honest review.

LOVED this SO MUCH!!!

This was yet another well-written story from one of my favorite romance authors. It gave me everything I wanted – it was everything I needed. The title? 100% accurate... holy. tingles. everywhere.

Mira’s heroes are always the dreamiest and swooniest and fall hard for their women. But Wade... ohmygoodness. I think he put a lot more hearts in my eyes than any of the other Slayers hockey players. I really didn’t think that’d be possible.

Watching him fall for Harlow was such a beautiful thing. His passion, his need to care for her was touching and so very heartwarming. It made me envy her a bit. I would kill for that kind of adoration.

Their chemistry was white hot. It snapped, crackled, and popped! My kindle was seriously sizzling. His filthy mouth? GEEZ LOUISE. It was scrumptious.

No matter how hard Harlow tried to resist him, she just couldn’t. She tried hard to ignore his kindness, his sexiness, his honesty... those MF abs. She continually said he’s not her type, tried so hard to convince herself of that. But there was no denying...he is an all-around good guy with a huge heart, hiding inside that gorgeous body of his.

Harlow was such a strong and determined heroine. Never getting the love and care she needed growing up, she always felt like she had to prove herself. She craved the attention that she was deprived of her whole life. But she didn’t want to have to depend on anyone. She worked hard for everything she had, with no help from anyone else. But...she sure wouldn’t mind being needed by someone every once in a while.

The relationship between Wade and Harlow went from you’re-not-my-type to maybe to this-is-awkward to I’m-all-in-this-fake-relationship to friends-to-lovers to...more...so much more. With each turn of the page, seeing their relationship grow, experiencing their hearts opening up and growing and letting each other in gave me all those feel-good feels and delicious little heart flutters.

After Wade showed her what it’s like to be cared for, to be acknowledged, to be respected, she was a goner. Girl, SAME.

I loved this book so much! I’m pretty sure the smile on my face was ear to ear and wouldn’t leave my face for a long time after I finished.

If you’ve read the other books in this series, you’ll want to read this one. If you haven’t, this one can be read as a standalone. And then you can go back and read the others. ;)

In the previous three books, Wade was more of a background character. So not knowing much about him, I guess the title mislead me more than I realized. It’s not inaccurate, particularly the moments when little to no clothes were involved 😉. Otherwise however, it could’ve been as aptly titled Sweet Talker (I know I know, the whole ‘dirty’ thing is the theme with titles). Dirty Talker is a playful, sweet ’n sexy & kind of adorable quickie read(almost novella short). Like it was literally about 50 pages shorter than any of the previous 3. I mean it’s not like it should be some sort of requirement or anything, but some moments(especially in the beginning) there was definitely room to expanded upon. i.e. after Harlow agreed to be his fake date & attend his lil bro’s wedding. It’s implied they exchanged some playful & curious texts back & forth getting to know each other while sorting out the deets for their trip. Yet not shared 😢. UM — I’m kinda a sucker for for those in romances. I wanted to read those, dang it! Tbh in the later stages, the plot was a tad convoluted. Nonetheless, I’m far more pleased with DT than not. Mostly just wanted the plot fleshed out a little more & less summarized in places.

Surprised how much I enjoyed this

This is my first read by this author and to be honest, I wasn’t expecting anything more than a formulaic fake relationship sports romance to pass some time.

But wow - even though the story wasn’t complex, it was so refreshing to read about characters who were honest with their feelings, didn’t get “scared” and self-sabotage their relationship, and made the “right” choices - choosing each other and their relationship above anything else.

That’s so rare to read in contemporary romance, so for that alone it deserves 5 stars.

And both Wade and Harlow were such sweet characters who had a great dynamic, that it was a super fun read all around

Edit: Ingrid May is the female narrator. She isn’t listed on here, Audible or the library apps, but she deserves credit. She’s amazing and I hope she gets a lot more work from this.

I love a good fake relationship, and this one was excellent.

I loved that, very early in the fake relationship, it’s the male character who decides he wants more than fake. And that the female character needs some convincing to agree. I always enjoy a romantic man with a more pragmatic woman.

Wade is a very passionate man, and the sexy scenes are so steamy they’ll melt your eyes. Though it takes some time to get there. Don’t give up, you’re in for a treat. Or you’ll never understand the title. Let’s say that Wade is a nuanced character–a good boy with a dirty streak, a driven man with a soft heart, a giant with a gentle soul.

On the other side, we have Harlow, also driven but for the wrong reasons, who’s decided to shut off a whole side of her in order to achieve goals that keep out of her reach. Until she agrees to help Wade, and she discovers new priorities.

Besides the compelling characters, another great element is the pace of the story. It starts light and fun, then the passion escalate, and the plot thickens, and finally the ending is intense. It really kept me on the edge of my seat. An unexpected addition to this already great series.

Quickie

- Series: Slayers hockey #4 (can be read as a standalone)
- Hashtags: #hockey romance #fake relationship #opposites attract #multicultural relationship
- Triggers: N/A
- Main couple: Harlow Richards & Wade Gracy
- Hotness: 5/5
- Romance: 4/5
- + that was HOT!
- – I’d have liked to see more of Wade’s family

EDIT: I’ve listened to the audiobook. I didn’t enjoy it as much as I wanted to, because of the female narrator. Her frequent breath intakes annoyed me, and I felt she didn’t convey Harlow’s personality.

A fake relationship romance with witty banter, steamy tension, and a surprising emotional journey hooked me from the first page. A hard-working humble athlete and a smart heroine who doesn't like athletes made for the perfect combination.

Beautiful setting, strong backstories, and unparalleled character development
I'm a long-time fan of Mira Lyn Kelly so believe me when I say she has outdone herself with Dirty Talker.
Harlow and Wade have this insane chemistry that explodes from the pages, starting chapter one and going strong throughout the book.
And Wade Grady... OMG, that man is just a dirty-sweet dream come true.
Also, I may have the biggest girl-crush on Harlow; I can't recall the last time I read such a well-written female character.

Wade Grady might have just taken the number one sport of Book Boyfriend! Oh Gosh this story!
First of all fake relationship trope is cat nip for me. I love them. There is always so much that can go wrong to make the story great! But you add a swoony dirty talking hockey player to the mix and you just know this is a story that is going to be amazing!
Grady is such a smart and humbling hero. He has all the swagger you want from your hockey playing hero but he comes with another layer. Hockey didn’t come easy for Grady. He has a work ethic that drives him to his professional career.
Grady is also a totally family guy. He cares so deeply for his family that he does everything he can to be present when he visits them at home. There is this one thing back home that interferes with his family time and leaves him looking for a fake girl friend to bring home for his brother’s wedding.
Harlow was the surprising heroine. She comes off as aloof and I wasn’t sure how Grady was going to reel her in. Harlow has been driven her whole life. She is a people pleaser. But at the end of the day, she just wants someone to notice her efforts, to care about her and to put her first. In the end Harlow is a Boss! It shows that when you finally open yourself up to love and acceptance you find EVERYTHING you need.
This book checks so many boxes for me.
witty banter
steamy tension
a smart heroine
A swoony hockey player.

Dirty Talker is the fourth book in the Slayers Hockey series by the talented Mira Lyn Kelly. I'm loving this series with these sexy hockey players and the women they fall hard for. This is Wade Grady's story! Oh man, I love this man. He's strong, smart, and sexy, but he's also a good guy. He's nice and funny and has a dirty mouth. He's the perfect man. Will whisper sweet nothings in one ear then dirty thoughts in the other. Yes, please! Wade is going home for a week for his brother's wedding and he needs a no strings date. Just someone to pretend to be his girlfriend and nothing more. No one will help him find someone, but one night, one just comes to him. Kind of. A few too many cocktails and Harlow agreed to go to the wedding with Wade. But she can't do that. She's not spontaneous and the details are a little fuzzy. When she tries to back out, Wade is actually nice about it and she can't say no. So off she goes. With this sexy hockey player. It will be fine. She can just pretend and that's it. Until she starts to notice his muscles and his smile and his everything. They have to practice touching, that will be easy. They have to get comfortable being near each other. Easy peasy. Wade didn't expect to be attracted to Harlow. There's just something about her buttoned up clothes and her aloofness that he loves. She's not a bunny and it's refreshing. But one real taste of her and he's not sure he's pretending anymore. Will he be able to convince Harlow to try for real or have to let her go? Oh boy! Wade is so swoony! I had to many favorite scenes, but "be the bunny" was on the top of the list. I love how fun he was. How easy going. But he's smart and complicated too! Harlow just need to relax and get a different perspective on her life. She didn't mean to fall for him, but she did! I loved watching them slowly fall for each other and let their guards down and just be with each other. Overall, I loved every word and it's my favorite of the series. Can't wait for more from the Slayers!

3.5 stars. Another very sweet story. I especially loved that the author didn’t force drama into the story needlessly.

Safe; hero was a manwhore before heroine but we don’t see his exploits (in this book at least), heroine not a virgin but not a ton of experience, some OW drama from a girl who’s obsessed with him but he’s not interested in her.

Over the last year, the hockey romance genre has become, quite simply, my favorite genre. The alpha male falling for the strong and sassy female heroine and turning himself inside out just to have a shot with her is exactly the type of read that makes my heart turn into a warm, liquid mess.

I’ve been waiting for a new Mira Lyn Kelly novel for what seems like forever (in reality, it’s only been six months since Dirty Rebound was published), so when the ARC for Dirty Talker hit my email, I was ready to call in sick to work and spend the day getting to know Wade Grady and his love interest, Harlow Richards.

Admittedly, I was ready for the same formula I’ve come to know and love from Kelly, who is the author who sucked me into the hot AF world of hockey romance novels. While Kelly writes stories that I absolutely get lost in, I was so thoroughly surprised by Dirty Talker. Wade and Harlow’s story was not what I expected.

First, while it is barely touched on in the beginning, I believe this is the first book from Kelly that I have read where the heroine is of mixed race. It wasn’t in your face, but it was only subtly hinted at until Harlow’s full background story was revealed about two-thirds of the way through. I suspect this was due to Harlow herself, who keeps so many things about herself from Wade, because she just doesn’t trust anyone, or even herself, to be able to handle or look at her situation exactly how it is. There’s not a lot that Harlow can control about her relationship with her family, so keeping her feelings and her family history close to the vest is one way she can control her world.

Second, Wade is NOT the typical Chicago Slayers hockey player. In the previous books, most of the players have had colorful pasts with women, behaviors or situations that they really have to overcome to be able to win the girl of their dreams. Wade, while having a past that he ultimately does have to deal with, it has nothing to do with the puck bunnies we have crossed paths with in the other novels. He really IS a good guy, as he keeps reminding everyone as he tries to secure a fake date for his brother’s wedding. It’s a different and welcome alternative spin in the Slayers Hockey series, the way Wade knows immediately what he wants from Harlow and never waivers. The way he pursues her, knowing that she has laid down the law about their fake relationship staying fake, but steadfast in how he knows that what he feels for her has the potential to be real…

Kelly writes sweet yet demanding book boyfriends like no other author I’ve read before. The relationships she builds make me yearn for that kind of intimacy – that alpha male with a heart of gold, who just knows how to treat  a woman, who makes it his priority to make his woman feel loved and cared for, who sees and adores his woman for more than what she simply presents to world and instead sees to the deepest corners where she hides her most vulnerable self.

Based on the title, Dirty Talker, I was expecting a scorching hot read – and it was, but not in the way I thought it would be. The tether that exists between Wade and Harlow, the story that we as the reader get to glimpse as it’s happening, is not about the dirty talking Wade does in Harlow’s ear (although that is VERY hot, indeed), but more about the slow burn of a relationship that neither character thought was possible. Both Wade and Harlow were simply existing, focusing on their careers while sacrificing personal relationships and the possibility of real love. By the end of this book, they have both grabbed ahold of the possibilities and have chucked merely existing for actual living.

And isn’t that what we should all be doing? Living instead of just existing?

Dirty Talker was a five-star read, and another visit to the Slayers Hockey world that I know I’ll be enjoying for years to come.

Dirty Talker is the fourth book in the Slayers Hockey series by Mira Lyn Kelly. I am in love with this team of hot, hilarious, and shameless flirts and the women who bring them to their knees. You can read each book as standalone but I recommend reading the series since they all have their unique stories.

Wade is desperate for a date to his brother’s wedding. But it’s not only a few hours. It’s a ten-day affair to his hometown. A small-town full of expectations. He just wants to borrow a teammate’s sister, cousin, friend, anyone who won’t be a stage five clinger or take out a kidney in his sleep. He is a good guy but no one is willing to go with his plan until her. A woman who he has only seen a few times without conversation until fate stepped into a club. He knows she is perfect since she doesn’t even want him which is a hit to his ego but good for his plan. He doesn’t have time for distractions so why does he want to cause trouble only a few days in? He is so fucked.

Harlow can’t believe she volunteered to be his fake date. It’s so unlike her but she had the time off and wanted to have some fun for once in her life. She should probably remember his name or know what sport the man played first and she was an amazing student. She could do this. Study him. Easy, right? He wasn’t even her type. Tall, hot, abs for days, sweet, and plays hockey? Yeah. That’s not sexy at all. Nope. Not. At. All. Ten days of fun was promised but she had no idea how much she would enjoy him.

It’s unexpected. It all is. Two strangers playing their part. Two people learning each other. Two people who need it to end come Monday.

Omg! I love Wade and Harlow. They are hilarious, sexy, and so much fun. And yes, unexpected. Of course, there is more to their story than just fun. There is a reason why he truly needed a date. Reason for her to get out of her head. I loved it all. I can’t wait for the next book. I never want this series to end.

P.S. Make sure to get the bonus epilogue!

Quotes:

“If you want to make a point, now seems like a really good time to do it.”
I shouldn’t. I know better. But— “You want to pull the pin on this grenade?”
She nods, one brow arched. “Think you can handle it?”

“Be the bunny, dude.”

From the second I peeked into the front room of the suite this morning and found him reading in bed, bare-chested, hair in such sexy disarray it was impossible to see it without imagining my fingers in it, my brain has been off.
Twitchy.
Twisting every innocent act into a moment rife with dirty potential.

What a fun fast read. This book sucked me in right from the start and had me laughing within pages. I just loved how Harlow opened up and became so much more than what she even thought she could be. And Wade!! He was this sweet but sexy but very simple kinda guy who was trying to do the right thing but at the same time not cause problems. Such a nice guy !! ~Jen

"I’m going to go and be all cliche right now but honestly this series goes from strength to strength. I was so looking forward to Wade’s book and it surpassed anything my imagination could have come up with.
What I liked most about this romance was that there was no unnecessary drama between the two main characters - except for maybe at the start!! Harlow really came into her own as the story progresses and this kept me intrigued right until the very end.
Mira has declared who the next book is going to feature from the Slayers and I think it’s going to be awesome.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book." ~Sharon

Let’s talk about “Dirty Talker by Mira Lyn Kelly”, book part of the Slayers Hockey series.
💙
This is hands down my favorite book from Mira! I’m so in love and I couldn’t put it down. I was reading so fast because I wanted to devour the story, but at the same time I didn’t want to end. Sigh. The struggle of a reader. Anyway, it’s a fake relationship trope and finally I didn’t get annoyed about it! They didn’t lack communication, at least on Wade’s part, he was upfront most of the times and express what he wanted and needed. Sometimes he also use the Art of seduction to win Harlow over, even the “be the bunny” technique that Axe taught him.

Harlow at the other part, need a break from her life, so when Wade needed a fake girlfriend so he could go to his brother’s wedding, she jumped to the occasion. I loved her so much, she was a loving, strong and loyal woman. Which made my heart break with her family struggles. She really didn’t deserve any of that.

So it was a good thing that Wade and Harlow found each other, they instantly became friends and a support system for each other. He showed her that there was more than work in life and what family and love really means, and I loved that she protected him over the situation with Kelsey, his crazy “stalker”, who lived at his parents house. But when they finally got together, dammmn it was steamy! The guy has moves and oh my bring me some ice!

Another thing that I adored about them, was how they become a power couple, you know the one that fight everything together and overcome any struggles and keeping loving? I love this! I was honestly surprised in the end, those twists!! But also loved! And don’t forget the hockey friends shenanigans! Gosh, this book is a must read!

Dirty Talker took me by surprise! I think it's my favourite book in the series so far 🥰

Wade needs a fake date for his brother's wedding. Harlow is a strait-laced career-driven woman who needs a break. Pretending to be Wade's girlfriend for 10 days sounds like the perfect solution to let loose and have fun.

First of all, I LOVE that Harlow doesn't know anything about hockey 😂 I was seriously waiting for a heroine who really couldn't care less about athletes. Wade's ego gets hit by Harlow's jocks-don't-impress-me attitude, which creates this really fun dynamic between the two.

Second of all, I just LOVE that Wade is the one who noticed Harlow first and that he's the first one to fall in love. Harlow is strict about this fake relationship having a deadline, but Wade wants her to catch feelings for him 🥰 I LOVE a hero who doesn't fight his feelings and goes after what he wants. And he reads books!!! I can't even with how perfect this man is 😍

I love how Wade and Harlow navigated their fake relationship by learning each other's love languages. Harlow is a bit stiff when it comes to physical affection, but Wade's love language is touch. They were so freaking sweet together 🥺 I love how Harlow slowly loosens up and allows herself to freely touch Wade and to be touched by Wade in return.

This is the second friends to lovers romance in the Slayers series and man, the author really knows how to write this trope. Despite not knowing each other for too long, Harlow and Wade had this very natural and easygoing relationship. The build up of tension and chemistry is so well done. And there are some HILARIOUS scenes that made me die of laughter 🤣

In terms of conflict, there is a reason why Wade needs a date for his brother's wedding. There's a childhood friend who's basically obsessed with him. She created an uncomfortable environment for Wade in his own childhood home. She was mentally unstable and has done things that I would even classify as sexual harassment.

I wish we found out earlier in the story that Harlow is actually biracial: half Tamil and half white. We know that she had brown skin, but we don't learn about her origins until chapter 10. Personally, this is the type of information I like to know very early on, like within the first couple of chapters. I also wish there were more hockey scenes. I wanted Harlow to watch Wade play live. This book mostly takes place during the wedding week, also the off-season, so there are no hockey games. We do have some golden interactions between Wade and Axel though and I can't wait for Axel's story 🤣

Audiobook: I wish they had kept Christian Fox as the male narrator. But I like the new female narrator a lot more than the previous one. They should have paired this new female narrator with Christian Fox.

Each book in this series somehow manages to top the last and Dirty Talker was no exception! I absolutely loved how both Wade and Harlow went into the fake date so sure that neither would catch feelings for the other, but then of course that changed really fast and it was Wade who decided to peruse a real relationship. He did everything to try and convince Harlow to give them a real chance even resorting to “being the bunny.” The whole time he was doing that it was hilarious and Harlow’s reaction to it made it even better! These two despite being so different were so perfect for each other and getting to see them realize it and embrace it was beautiful. And the bonus epilogue was EVERYTHING so if you read this book make sure and read it afterwards!

This was another fabulous book by Mira Lyn Kelly. I absolutely loved Harlow and Wade. They were so fabulous and I just loved each of them equally. Wade was just an awesome guy that needed a fake girlfriend to take home for his brother’s wedding, one that would be ok with this being a one and done deal and not looking for a relationship. Harlow was just so great and I absolutely loved her. And then you have Harlow who was having a bad day and out with a coworker and volunteers to help Wade out, something that is so out of the norm for her that she almost backs out. But she doesn’t because she realizes she needs a vacation away from her work and this is the perfect thing to distract her. Wade and Harlow are on the same page- she is helping him out as a friend and that neither of them want a relationship, they just don’t have the time for one in their lives. Perfect... or is it? Well these two are just perfect for each other and wow the attraction between them is HOT! I seriously did not want to put this book down. So I didn’t, lol. If you have read and enjoyed the Chicago Slayers series then this book will not disappoint.

I love all of Mira Lyn Kelly's Slayers Hockey series but I must say this one is my favorite! Wade is such an amazing guy! Harlow agrees to be his fake date to his brothers wedding. Ten days with Wade's family and Harlow realizes all the things she has been missing in her life. Her narrow focus on her career. Harlow never really knew what a loving family looked like and it was a real eye opener. Meanwhile, Wade is just his wonderful self. Such a great love story. So many feelings for these two! Fantastic read!

Harlow's the good girl always looking to climb the corporate ladder at her father's bank so she can get even a smidgen of his attention. She doesn't date jocks but when she's had a few too many drinks one night while hanging with a friend, she finds herself agreeing to be a hockey player's fake date for a week, so he can save face in front of his family. But in the cold light of day and a hangover induced forgetful fog, will Harlow still think Wade's plan is a good one?

There's something different about Harlow, something that draws Wade like no one ever before has. The fact that she doesn't fall all over him is part of it, but it's just her. So when he finds himself falling for his fake date, he's all in. The only question is, is Harlow all in with him?

I think this is Mira's best writing and best couple, ever! Wade is a good guy perfectly paired with Harlow's good girl, but that mouth?! That dirty freaking mouth?! WHEW!! Their chemistry is off the charts hot, they're both so sweet together, and I loved reading as fake soon turned oh so real. I can't wait for more Slayer's Hockey love now.

I cannot get enough of Wade and Harlow! Wade is the "good guy" on his pro hockey team. Hes the one to work harder for where his career needs to go, single minded determination has made his personal life lacking. He needs a date for his brothers wedding to dispell some assumptions on who he should be with. Harlow has that same drive in her career wanting only to show the higher ups what shes capable of. She has no idea who he is other than a jock. He has seen her before and noticed her in the most sweetest way. To say i like any book by Mira Lyn Kelly would be a gross understatement. She writes heroes and heroines that i would want to be friends with. Harlow is definitely that kind of girl. She is a touch on the nerdy side researching everything she can about Wade's hometown and a little about Wade since she knows absolutely nothing about hockey. She's also a closet jock but you cant convince her of that. Wade is truly a nice guy. His plan to take a girl to his hometown has nothing to do with getting in her pants and absolutely having a buffer from the town and their matchmaking ways. Wade's future is laid out for him by everyone there but he doesnt want what he sees. I loved how sweet Wade is toward Harlow. He wants things to go beyond the fake but wont push her into something she cant see for herself. But when Harlow goes all in, Wade's dirty talk comes out full force and man is it five alarm hot!

This is the first book I’ve read in this series and I had no problems following along. The writing was smooth and the story was interesting. I did have a little trouble with the first couple of chapters because I felt like it was repetitive so it was a little slow. However, when Wade and Harlow finally got on their trip, it flowed so easily that the chapters just flew by. I ended up reading the story in one night.

I smiled, I swooned, I giggled and I cringed. How can you not love Wade! Ugh, that man was dreamy and steamy and that mouth! Harlow did not stand a chance there was no way anyone can say no to that man. Even in their “fake” relationship, the sparks flew and anyone could see just how amazing these two were together.

I want to be part of the Grady family. They are perfect, hilarious, down to earth and just amazing people. I loved how they embraced Harlow into the family.

This is a fabulous read. This is book four in this series but I found it perfectly fine being read as a standalone. I’m off to pick up the other three books in the series.

tropes: fake dating, good girl/good boy romance..

i wanted to like this, i loved the title and the cover, but sadly it was all a lie.
i was hoping for a dirty talker, but actually, he's very sweet, so in the end, this romance was like watching paint dry.

I don't know why, usually I'm a sucker for praise/good girl but it didn't work for me in this book unfortunately. So everytime he called her that, it irritated me. 😅
I think maybe bc it was just all the time, like Good Girl was a nickname vs sexy times name? 🤷🏻‍♀️ I dunno.

I still have a permanent smile on my face even though I finished this book a while ago. I'm usually into brooding male caracters, so I must admit, I didn't like Wade in the first two chapters. He seemed way to cocky, full of himself, too arogant, hockey player . And then I had the chance to really meet him, and fall in love with his caracter along with Harlow. They are taking a ten day trip to his hometown, pretending to be a couple, for his brothers wedding. Since there are so many books with pretend relationship theme, I admit I didn't expect much from the plot. But it was refreshing, original and a very enjoyable read. A true romantic comedy. Wade discussions about his ego cracked me up, and you must read the book so you'll understand what "be the bunny" means. Harlow is such a loving caracter, mature, self respecting, not overly dramatic or jealous . The chemistry between them is sizzling, and I love the fact that the author gave them a chance to know each other, before making them jump in bed together. So we know for a fact, it's not just about the physical attraction.
Since this is my first read from this author now I must go and read the former three books in the series.

4.5/5⭐️

I just couldn’t stop listening to this book! Such a great story to escape the noise with, it had me laughing so much! And I should’ve known Wade’s number, all my favourite players seem to wear that one!

GAH! These two were FUN & HOT!!

I wanted to start the new year reading something I was guaranteed to make me giddy and even tho I read this story back when it released, I didn’t have a firm grasp on the details (I read a lot kids lol) but I knew I loved it. I was not wrong! Love is probably not a strong enough word because Everything made me giddy. The storyline was a fresh and unique take on the over-used fake relationship trope. The leads have chemistry for days and both possessed a level of charisma that sucked me into their vortex and made me want to jump into the story and just be their friend! The conflict in the story was easy and manageable and did not over-shadow the energy of their journey nor did it make my eyes roll (that one is huge lol). Even tho once I began to really get into the story, it all came back to me in detail, I continued to read until 2 am because it is that FUN!!

I’m not sure why I didn’t review this story back in March of 2021 when it released *shrug* (sometimes I read thru a bunch of books and just forget to review lol) but it is a rare day when I meet a Mira story I don’t want to scream from the rafters about. This woman is talented and pours everything she’s got into her writing. I’ve personally met Mira and consider her a friend and I can tell you with 100% certainty that her personality is all over her stories. She is greatness all around! If you haven’t met her word wizardry, you are missing out, so go do the thing!
