Castleford Tigers’ Sosaia Feki set to join surprising new club

Castleford Tigers winger Sosaia Feki has had a rotten luck with injuries in recent seasons.

Since joining Castleford from Cronulla Sharks for the 2020 season, Feki has had horrendous luck that have limited him to just one Super League appearance for the Tigers so far, but he has been working hard on getting back to match fitness.

As such, Feki moved to Featherstone Rovers on an initial two-week loan a month ago, though that didn’t really go to plan.

In his first taste of match action for around 20 months, Feki featured in the Tigers’ Reserves draw away against Salford Red Devils at the end of April. In a further boost, he also scored on his return but was limited on the number of minutes he played in that fixture.

Now, though, he has joined Sheffield Eagles after the South Yorkshire club teased his signing with a photo on their social media and Feki’s face pixellated.

Discussing the signing, Eagles Director of Rugby Mark Aston said: “We’re extremely pleased to be bringing in Sosaia on a loan deal,”

“He was outstanding in the NRL, which is obviously the reason why Cas signed him but he has had a torrid time with injuries.

“We’re more than happy to be giving him a shot in the Red and Gold.

“He is good friends with QLT and that always helps when you come into a new environment.”

Where Feki’s long-term future lies is another question altogether after an incredibly disappointing stint in the UK.

The Mole at the World Wide of Sports, previously reported that Feki was hunting a deal back home in the NRL with his former side where he made his name.

Feki, a member of Cronulla Sharks’ Premiership winning side back in 2016, has endured a nightmare spell in the UK and, according to The Mole, is homesick and wanted a return to the NRL.

The powerful winger is, of course, out of contract at the end of 2022 so it remains to be seen where his future may actually lie.
