Realme has announced that it'll launch India's first Snapdragon 865-powered 5G phone in India on February 24.
Realme X50 Pro 5G With Snapdragon 865 To Launch In India Before iQOO 3

iQOO recently announced that the iQOO 3 would be the first phone in India to be powered by the Snapdragon 865 processor and have support for 5G. But, in a surprising turn of events, Realme just announced that it’ll launch the Realme X50 Pro 5G just a day before the launch of the iQOO 3, on February 24. The Realme X50 Pro 5G it's by the Snapdragon 865 processor and will come with SuperDart 65W fast charging tech.

The Realme X50 Pro 5G is a step-up from the Realme X50 5G that was launched in China earlier this year. While the X50 was powered by the Snapdragon 765 processor, the X50 Pro houses Snapdragon’s latest flagship processor, the Snapdragon 865.

The teaser of the phone shows a dual punch-hole camera setup that we’ve also seen on the Realme X50 5G. Along with it, it’s confirmed that the phone will have a 90Hz AMOLED display. This will only be Realme’s second phone in India to have a higher-refresh-rate display. The first one was the Realme X2 Pro that was launched in India last year.

Interestingly, the phone will ship with a 65W GaN charger inside the box. GaN is a semiconductor that’s increasingly replace silicon. You can read more about GaN here. Also, the charging tech is now being branded as Dart instead of the VOOC moniker that we’ve seen on Realme phones till now.

While there are no indications on the price of the Realme X50 Pro 5G, the pricing of the Realme X2 Pro should give some indication. Since it’s known that Snapdragon 865 with the X50 5G modem doesn’t come in cheap, expect the phone to touch INR 45,000 with its top-end model. But since we also know how aggressive Realme can get, I won’t really be surprised if its priced even more competitively.

What’s interesting to me is how BBK is doubling down in the “flagship smartphone segment” of India. Until now, OnePlus handled the mandate for the Chinese smartphone conglomerate in this segment. But now, with the entrance of Realme and iQOO (both of which are also owned by BBK), BBK is trying to reach out to, and capture, a wider audience than it was possible with only a single brand (OnePlus).
