I reached out to three of my favorite influencers to find out how they found their success on social media.

My goal was to get some details on how they managed to monetize their social accounts.

Imagine if everyone knew how to make money on Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube, would they flex on their ex, or secure the bag?

If you’re wondering how to make money on social media, you may find this article useful.

Here are three tips from real-life social influencers that could help you transform your social media into a cash-cow.

Influencer: Andele Lara

Platform: Instagram @AndeleLara @AndeleLaraMUA @LaralifestyleOfficial

Followers: 124k

Business: Brand ambassador, Makeup artist, entrepreneur

Pro Tip: Consistency is key

Andele Lara gained popularity on social media through her flawless makeup looks and uncanny resemblance to international pop star, Rihanna.

Andele’s ability to stand out on Instagram allowed her to transform her social following from a group of admirers to an active purchasing audience.

Through hard work and dedication, Andele has formed partnerships with brands like Snob Mob, Pretty Little Thing, and Boxycharm ( just to name a few), she’s traveled the world pursuing social media business opportunities, and she’s worked with social media sensations like Patrick Starr (@patrickstarr) and Ming Lee (@iamminglee).

So what’s her secret?

Andele says the answer is consistency.

“It’s the famous one, being consistent. When you’re consistent you beat out at least 70% of the competition because you’re showing up every day, people are seeing your work every day. That’s really the secret, being consistent” — Andele Lara

Andele gave some insight into how consistency can make all the difference on the gram:

Pro Tip from Andele: “There are days where I don’t feel like necessarily getting all the way dressed, but I have batched content so that I can always have things to put out. Like yesterday, I wasn’t in no New York streets glammed up! Because I was consistent on a different day, I had a lot of content to put out, I have resources and I’m still able to keep posting.”

It’s an age-old answer, consistency is key, in anything you do, and social media is no different.

Andele’s take on consistency goes deeper than just posting on Instagram daily, she believes in choosing a passion and living in it consistently.

“ If I’m promoting makeup, best believe every picture is gonna have makeup, and if I’m promoting clothes, I’m going to have clothes, fire clothes, fire outfits.”

Entrepreneurs who aspire to thrive on Instagram should consider Andele’s advice, a consistent social marketing plan could be a gamechanger for new eCommerce businesses.

Influencer: Arielle Hale

Featured Platform: Twitter & IG @NerdNomadMom

Followers: 16.7K

Business: TECH COO, DIGITAL & EMAIL MARKETING, OPS

Pro Tip: Engage daily

I met Arielle at the end of 2018, in Malaysia, and immediately liked her because of her easy-going spirit. I thought she just seemed focused, level-headed, and easy to talk to, and I was right.

I later found out that Arielle was a tech boss who was also killing it on Twitter. Arielle’s genuine spirit shines through on her Twitter feed, and her followers love to #ListenToAri.

Here’s a little background on Arielle.

She’s a Dallas based tech COO by day and a marketing genius, world traveler, Twitter influencer, and mom, also by day … and night.

Arielle’s independent entrepreneurship allowed her to travel the world with her young son, Silas (top 5 cutest kids in the world, ever.) while working full-time as an independent project manager and killing it as a valued influencer on Twitter.

After selling her company in 2019, Arielle continues to be a force to reckon with as an entrepreneur and COO in the tech world.

Arielle is a go-to resource for tech and marketing tips. She’s constantly sharing her knowledge with the world and reaping the rewards of her generosity.

When I asked Arielle how she found success on Twitter she told me that daily engagement was the major key.

“ To be effective on twitter you have to engage daily, which is like comment and retweet on people’s stuff.” — Arielle Hale

It makes sense, social media is supposed to be about being social, right?

Pro Tip From Arielle: “Two things that have been working for me is to create threads where I teach people how to do something. Also, periscope lives, where I teach and give tips to an audience” — Arielle

Arielle has managed to harbor a network on Twitter, she’s landed gigs, booked consults, dropped free knowledge, and made BANK by staying engaged and being genuine on Twitter.

Influencer: Jerry Wilkins / RT TV

Featured Platform: YouTube

Subscribers: 639K

Business: Videographer, Youtuber, Director

Pro Tip: Find your niche

Jerry Wilkins (@Wilkins_RT) has always been passionate about filmmaking and videography. When he was a little kid he would use his hand as a fake camera and follow people around narrating their lives.

Today, he does the same thing, except with a real camera, and he doesn’t really follow people around anymore, now, people follow him. (Get it? That was a social media pun, lol.)

When Jerry teamed up with a group of his college friends to launch a YouTube channel in July 2017, they had no idea that the venture would one day pay their bills and fund their Yeezys.

Fast forward to today, Jerry, Patric(@PatricRT), Robby (@robcityRT), Evan (@DCZ_WorldRT) and Joel (@Wellz_RT), are the owners of RTTV, a multimedia sensation on YouTube, Instagram, and Twitch. The team has created a cult following with their YouTube reactions and original content. Oh, and let’s not forget their clothing line and merch. The RTTV team has monetized its YouTube channel and used the income to upgrade their business.

The dream, right?

Of course, it wasn’t easy, so how did they do it?

When I asked Jerry to spill the tea on making money on YouTube he told me the key is finding a niche.

“Find a niche that can move and break through the culture on YouTube” — Jerry Wilkins

Heres a definition of the word Niche: Denoting or relating to products, services, or interests that appeal to a small, specialized section of the population.

RTTV specializes in reaction videos and short-form niche content. The team has created a format that has grown their following to over 600k subscribers:

Each RTTV member has their special niche: Robby handles the music portion of the channel, he’s the music guy, Joel is the Anime king, Evan covers live-action, Jerry specializes in cartoons, and Patric is the fashion killer and the brains behind RTTV merch.

This is one of the few times I would say, think small, YouTube is about getting a lot of views and subscribers, not about appealing to everyone. The most successful YouTubers focus on a specific topic and consistently provide engaging content relating to that topic.

“Find something you actually like doing and multiple people can appeal to” — Jerry Wilkins

Building an audience on YouTube is about finding a clan and serving them great content daily.

2020 has been a crazy year. If there’s one thing I’ve taken away, it’s the importance of securing multiple bags (multiple streams of income) for a rainy day, or, an international health pandemic.

Social media could be your next side hustle, just remember the wise words of Andele, Arielle, and Jerry: Find your niche, stay consistent, and engage regularly.
