Great price but.........JulieI needed a high chair for my granddaughter while visiting and a $20 chair seemed great to meet my needs, except two things, first the tray if nearly impossible to remove. It takes great effort and makes a big popping noise when you remove it--if you can remove it. . Second, the strap to secure the baby is very hard to squeeze to open it or close the clasps. But then again, it cost 20 bucks. 3

Great highchairJanI bought one to keep at my house when my grandchild came over. Now that I have 2 grandchildren, we needed a second chair. Great item for the money. The only downside is they don’t come with a footrest so you have to buy them elsewhere. I got mine on etsy.5
Tray is incredible hard to remove KelliI wanted a cheap, easy clean option for a high chair, and this is exactly that. It’s sturdy, cheap and easy to clean…. My only problem (it is a big one), the tray is extremely hard to remove. I have 7 kids so I have had lots of high chairs in my day, and this one is extremely hard to remove to wash. It snaps in, not clips on. So you have to pull very hard while push down on the back of the high chair. Sometimes I can’t even get it off and just have to wipe the tray clean. Being how hard you have to pull to “unsnap it” I don’t know how long it will last before the little plastic insert breaks. It’s very annoying. Not sure why Ikea would make a high chair where the tray is almost impossible to remove. 2

Lightweight BeckyLightweight but very sturdy high chair. Someone gave us a used one and we purchased another for twin great grandsons to use at our house. Price was definitely great. We were looking at that was almost $200 so finding this was very helpful on Senior budget.5

Great product but tray is hard to removeTheresaChair is strong, solid, and simple. The only downside is that the tray is hard to remove. It snaps securely into place, but requires a lot of strength the snap it back out. Otherwise, wonderful quality and the price cannot be beat! 4
Tray is awfulRuchikaTray back clips broke within couple of days and now it’s safety hazard for the baby. Tray falls off easily as the baby leans. So now it needs constant supervision otherwise as baby might flip. Ikea is not a next door store so returning or purchasing a new one is another headache. This product is dangerous and should be recalled or discontinued or redesigned. 1
Horrible traySarahThe tray is basically impossible to take off. The FIRST day we had it, part of the connecting piece to the tray broke off immediately. The tray is now broken on one side and honestly useless. You’d be better off spending money on a better quality product elsewhere. I really wish I could get my money back. The positive is that it is easy to clean. 1

Story

Let the youngest ones join the table

All children, no matter where they grow up, have similar needs the first years – for example to try out new exciting food and practice their eating skills. A good way to learn is to watch how others do. These insights guided our engineer John Forsén as he developed ANTILOP – a highchair that lets children and their parents spend time together around the dining table. Along the way, John also learned that one way to create affordable furniture that simplifies people’s lives is doing things a bit differently.

IKEA products are normally developed through collaboration between a designer and an engineer – the designer does sketches and the engineer makes constructional drawings. But with ANTILOP, John went straight to creating a computer model. "I had an idea of how the finished result should look, so I started by calculating where the legs had to be, and at what angle, to get a safe and stable construction", he explains.

A smart construction led to a low price

To get a low price, a simple construction was needed. "I focused on the necessities. ANTILOP is optimized to be strong and easy to manufacture. The fact that we use plastic and steel, and very little of it, enabled the low price", says John. The construction also makes it easy to bring the chair with you whenever it's mealtime out of the home. Or have an extra chair waiting at the grandparents when the grownups are out for dinner on their own.

A low price, but not at any cost

But the definition of good furniture covers more than a low price. The quality has to be there, too. And it is. We take the toughest demands in each region and by regular quality and safety inspections we make sure ANTILOP lives up to all of them. If a new law or standard is introduced we test the chair again. All in all, ANTILOP shows that doing things differently when creating good furniture can be just the way to do it.
