About this ebook

I'm an illusionist, not a psychic.

Going on TV is supposed to advance my career, but things go wrong.

Like vampires and zombies kind of wrong.

My name is Sasha Urban, and this is how I learned what I am.

You get what you pay for, I learned as a kid. This one, while an interesting idea, is so full of contrived situations that you just get bored with it. While chasing Beatrice, there are suddenly corpses to be reanimated in the dozens .. in a Vegas hotel. What's wrong with that? And there's a rush from action scene to action scene, like there's no tomorrow - and Sasha is cool with that (ok, there's some internal monologue, but never to the point). i think the idea was interesting, but the execution was done to chock the reader with perma-action (if that's a term) so you wouldn't spot the plot holes. DNF at about 50% or so due to the illogical scenes.

Series started strong, but Book 2 turns it all to trash. Book 1 had a unique character with a real sense of humor plus comedic action scenes. BUT eventually, the innuendo and shock factor are all that's holding up the plot. Book 2 comes around, and it just feels like a stage for the author's skeevy fantasies. No real action, no answers on character's powers or bg, and the whole book is "will she or won't she be sexually assaulted by one of the 5 characters that are using their powers to manipulate her mind and body without her knowledge?" In Book 2, suddenly all the character thinks about is how sexy everyone is, and OH, ALSO-- she goes to learn magic with highschoolers and creeps on young girls between humiliating them with her "illusion" tricks. Cuz that's normal for a straight adult woman to do (who tf calls a child a sexy librarian??). Book one was a 3.5/5, book two was a 0/5. The red flags made it impossible to read.

Loved it! The characters are very well developed and very likeable. The story line is original with a plot that easily lends itself to a series. Unlike some I've read lately, this book is a decent length. It grabs you from the first page and never lets go. Plenty of action, a bit of romance,a mystery where a small part is revealed. All this leaves you wanting more. One of the best I've read lately. Definitely adding this author to my list of favorites.
