The Edge #3

The Edge of Redemption

Rate this book
Jace Walker is a master illusionist, but he can’t keep up the act anymore. His family and friends thought he was happy and healthy and at peace with his past. But that was a lie. Every single moment from that awful day has been a lie. Just one big exhausting routine that he can’t stop. Always having to pretend to deal with the pain of his life lost.

All he wanted to do was feel her again, and the pills always helped. That is until they didn’t. Being forced to open up about his feelings is now his life. His newest distraction is this stranger in town with pink hair and an attitude problem who’s tormenting his mind while slowly bringing him back to life.

One look at AJ, and you’d think she has everything together, but things aren’t always as they appear. After leaving home at 18 to forge her own path, she’s pulled back to her old life by the death of her sister and brother-in-law, now being the only next of kin for her 7-year-old orphaned niece.

With her heart still aching to be free, she now fights the courts for custody of her niece, desperately trying to go back to the life she had. The only problem with her plan is the attractive asshole in the grief support group that she hates with every fiber of her being but who also feels like home.

To an onlooker, these two Grumpy Gus’s are the definition of toxic, but as fate would have it, they’re partnered together to complete their healing journeys.

With darkness around every corner, will the stars align on their road to redemption?

I was expecting heartbreak and pain, of course–the previous books were like that, and considering Jace as a character, it was obvious that it was going to be heartwrenching–but I wasn’t expecting such a profound reflection upon grief, guilt and the loss of someone loved.

It starts where the previous book ended, with Jace overdosing. Bam! It can only get better after that, right? Wrong. It’s only the beginning of a long journey through healing and grieving. And Jace has a long road to walk, given he’s lost his girlfriend ten years earlier and still suffers.

Pairing him up with rainbow hippie AJ was bold. They’re like fire and… more fire. They’re so alike in their grieving process they can’t see it, and they keep getting in each other’s face. Sometimes it was playful banter–more and more as they get to learn about each other–and sometimes it was dirty. Great to move the plot, and their relationship. It was like they were blind to their own problems but could see them reflected in each other.

To anchor volatile AJ to this small town, the author introduced Beatrice/Belle, AJ’s niece that she wants to take care of after her sister’s death. The presence of this young soul forced AJ into introspection, and sure helped her–and Jace–in their healing process. Add to that the whole crew seen in the previous books, and Jace and AJ clearly weren’t alone, as much as they thought they were. And don’t forget the support group. That was a weird collection of people, and some of them had some real impact on the characters and their story.

Maybe I didn’t see love as much as attraction and companionship. Maybe I felt it looked like two amputees leaning on each other to stay upright and didn’t think it was healthy. Maybe I should just take the author’s words for granted and believe it when she wrote it was love. And maybe that’s okay, because it didn’t take away from the beauty of their relationship.

Quickie

- Series: The edge #3 (can be read as a standalone)
- Hashtags: #small town romance #new adult #enemies to lovers #child’s guardian
- Triggers: suicide and attempted suicide, addiction, overdose, death, grief, domestic abuse, mental illness
- Main couple: Aurora Jane & Jace Walker
- Hotness: 4/5
- Romance: 4/5
- + the reflection upon grief and loss
- – the characters weren’t always consistent

Wow.
This was… heavier than I expected. Jace & AJ have both had some serious losses and are in the process of fixing what’s broken within themselves.
Grump meet sunshine, but a more complex take on it for sure. Each person battling their own demons, each one doing the work to find out who they could really be if they shed the things that are keeping them mired in grief.
Jace was an incredibly difficult character. I understood his pain, but I really felt for the people that were around him. His coping mechanisms were practically nonexistent for a good portion, and it was incredibly taxing on me to be in his head and see the inner workings and demons that were causing his reactions.
AJ was just as complicated in her own ways. Her story was sad from the word go, and setting to see how it impacted her views on the world was definitely a different take.
Overall, I did enjoy my read, the cast of side characters provided some relief, and I really enjoyed Belle especially. I will say that, for me, she was written a little more maturely than her age would indicate, but it wasn’t a detraction from the story.

Ive been anticipating Jace’s story since The Edge of Happiness. He is a character that automatically stood out to me. I just knew there was going to be such a great story behind his character l but I was not expecting this.

In order to get a feel for all the characters I suggest reading the first 2 books in the Edge series (though I may warn you, all of them are heavy on the HEAVY). The author does not shy away from writing heavy topics and giving all our characters a fighting chance into moving on.

Jace, my sweet haunted Jace. I was so happy he was able to heal and move on. Im glad AJ was introduced and paired up with him. While this book may have some triggers to some it was still beautiful.

Beautiful, emotional and raw!

The Edge of Redemption is a powerful story of loss, anger, and the fight to find your way back to living. Jace and AJ are an amazing couple that have overcome so much to find and fight their way to love. This is a wonderful story of strength and love.

My heart is so full and happy. This book made me feel every single emotion I could think of and many others I wasn't aware I was able to feel and then filled my heart with goodness. A story about healing, redemption and the type of love that brings people together forever and makes you whole. A work of art, a romance for the ages!

I'm in love with Kristin's beautiful writing, engaging storytelling and heartbreakingly beautiful characters. AJ and Jace are imperfect perfection! They met each other at their breaking points, their lowest low, when they couldn't handle the pain in their lives anymore and even though they didn't have the best first impression and were opposites in many ways, it didn't take too long for them to find out they had more in common than they thought and were each other's missing piece to finally move forward from the painful past that was blocking them from living their lives to the fullest.

I loved AJ so much! her creative soul was screaming to be out and be the artist she always wanted to be, but her pain and insecurities didn't let her. I loved how she was willing to leave everything behind to be with Beatrice (little Belle). She wanted to be what she needed to be able to heal, even if it made it hard for her to heal herself. She resisted Jace because of her own fears but once she opened up and let him in, she found a love that she didn't even know she needed. I just felt so whole seeing her realizing how much he was worth all the love and all of her, even if she wanted to deny it to protect herself. Her journey to find her way to him made me swoon so hard because both of them deserved a love like that after so much heartache. I loved how at home she felt with Jace and his family and friends, the warmth they brought to her and Belle and how welcomed they made them feel because they genuinely cared for them, even if they didn't know them for that long. The bond and connection they found with Jace's family made my heart flutter, it was heartwarming and so sweet.

Jace was the sweetest broken man ever! I loved everything about him, I hurt for him, cried for him and rooted for him every step of the way of his journey to healing. I understood his doubts and anger while he put every single drop of his effort to make therapy work, even if he didn't understand it and was so scared to open up. His brokenness broke me completely, I cried many times as he recalled his past and opened his wounds. I loved how he didn't take that long to find out how wonderful AJ really was and how serious he took his job to help her when he found out how much help she needed her, because that's how he ended up realizing he also needed her to finally start living and loving with his all heart, because that's what he did, he loved with everything in him. He melted my heart with how sweet he ended up being with AJ, how supportive he was and how much he showed her and reassured her when she needed it the most because that's what he also needed for himself, someone who could understand him and be there for him in the darkest times. He deserved someone like AJ, he deserved to be loved as much as he loved in return!

They literally complemented each other in everything, her strengths were his weaknesses and vice versa, which made the bond even stronger. I loved how they switched form not liking each other to be each other's support system right when they found out how awesome they could be together. They not liking each other was just a reflection of what was happening inside their heads. They just needed to talk, get to know each other and find all the ways they could help one another to find true healing. They built this strong connection and I instantly fell in love with their chemistry, their banter and bickering and how well they worked together as a family. Even little Belle got her own healing and new family, not to replace the one she lost but the one she needed to fill the void to feel whole and safe again. She was the cutest kid, her backstory and journey also broke my heart and put it back together again, it's different when you see kids suffering, even in fiction, because you know there are kids out there going through the same thing and you wish a happy ever after for the mas well.

I loved how Kristin described their pain and suffering so well, their body language, facial expressions, tone of voice, habits, inner dialogue... everything was so real and vivid and it made me feel everything they were feeling. My heart ached so bad seeing them going through so much (believe me, they did go through so effing much) inside and outside their minds, but got out of there stronger and with such a realistic hope and true joy. The romance was intertwined with their healing journey so perfectly and it was so beautiful that I couldn't stopped sobbing during the last few chapters... that epilogue? Aaaaaaahhh... the most adorable thing in the world. It couldn't end more perfectly than that.

Kristin Turnage didn't only give me a swoony, hot as hell, romantic story. She dug in deep in the hearts of these beautiful characters and brought up beauty from their grief and pain, she made them learn and grow in a wholesome, life-changing way. It was a love story of helping others heal while finding your own healing!

I cannot recommend this book enough! It will break your heart but I promise it has the happiest of endings.

Many thanks to my talented friend, Kristin Turnage for gifting me this ARC in exchange for an honest review. I'm in love! Can't wait to know how this series will continue!

My heart!!! If you're like me, you probably have read books that you just can't forget. The books that are number one on your list to recommend to avid readers. This book is the epitome of those books. The emotions that Ms. Turnage evokes are downright savage and extremely beautiful. She presents grief in all of its essence and how it affects everyone differently. Prepare for a journey of devastation, awakening, hope, and peace in the most profound way possible.

I hate that I fell in love with a girl who ruined every piece of me and dragged me into the darkness.

Grief doesn’t have an expiration date. Jonathan “Jace” Walker’s life has been in limbo since her death a decade ago. The nightmares, the triggers, and the guilt has eroded his confidence and his relationships with his family. Why can’t he move on? Then a pink-haired, tattooed, sassy ball of brightness starts tearing away his protective layer exposing all kinds of anger and avoidance. He can’t open his heart to another woman who plans to leave him behind.

Was my sister proud of me? Why? I haven’t done anything to be proud of.

You can’t run away from grief. Aurora “AJ” Jane's life has changed as she returns to the town that holds so many bad memories. Her estranged sister and brother-in-law are dead and AJ is responsible for her 7-year-old niece, Beatrice “Belle”. Taking one day at a time and waiting for the courts to grant her custody of Belle, AJ is adjusting to being responsible for a small human being and attending grief counseling with a rude jerk who doesn’t respect people’s feelings. All she wants to do is run, but the bonds she is forming with the people of this town are going to be difficult to break.

There are no two people who deserve each other than Jace and AJ. Their first encounters are brutal and jarring, but when they start to open up and listen to each other, they become a force that cannot be denied. Jace’s story is so tragic. I can’t tell you how many times I tear up for that man. He’s so broken as he insists on keeping his life controlled and tidy to hide his fear of moving on. It’s AJ who challenges his uptight ways and gets him to confront his fears. AJ is a person who is trying to find what’s missing in her life and finally realizing it is right in front of her with Belle, Jace, and a whole plethora of loving family and friends.

I have so many favorite scenes in this book. AJ’s Happy Stars idea is brilliant. Since she was a child she thinks of happy memories, draws them on a piece of paper, and makes it into a paper star to keep. They are used throughout the book in so many lovely ways. I was bawling with Belle’s dance recital scene. More favorites are Jace’s first tattoo, Belle with Jace’s family, Jace’s first family group hug since his painful journey, and I could go on and on.

This is undoubtedly the most gut-wrenching and memorable contemporary romance I’ve read in a long time. Ms. Turnage’s raw subject matter on suicide, grief, and guilt, is so wonderfully written with unforgettable compassion and courage. There are a number of truly happy and funny scenes as well. This is book 3 in a series I plan to devour. Pick up this phenomenal book; you won’t regret it.

Thank you to Ms. Turnage for giving me the opportunity to read this book with no expectation of a positive review.

Oh my sweet Jace, I want to give you a hug but I know you will hate it!

I have been waiting for Jace's story since book 1 and it did not disappoint. Jace is broken after the death of his girlfriend 10 years ago, he blames himself and does not know how to move on while still respecting her memory. His family and friends are at a loss as to how to help him anymore.

AJ is back in town after the death of her sister and brother in law. She gets custody of her niece and wants to make sure that she gets to keep her. AJ is used to doing everything on her own and being a free spirit, she has no clue how to be a parent, but she will do whatever she has to in order to keep Belle.

When Jace and AJ first met it is full of hate, they cannot stand each other, and then when they see each other in the same grief group, still hate. When they start to talk and listen to one another is when a friendship forms. They are both dealing with trauma and trying to overcome it. They are polar opposites but that is what they both need. Jace needs AJ's free spirit while AJ needs Jace's tight control.

Kristin Turnage writing is what makes this story so beautiful. You will get sucked in on the first page what to devour this book. She has a way of just bringing you in and making you feel like you are apart of this story. The story is emotional but so beautiful at the same time. These two characters are trying to overcome tremendous grief in their own ways, but when they come together and help each other is when they learn to truly move on.

And I loved the way that AJ was not jealous of Jace's girlfriend!! She never compared herself to her or got jealous, she knew she was important to Jace's life and loved her because Jace loved her.

Also, be prepared to shed some tears, I was fine until "hug time" and church....ugh beautiful!

Fit Perfectly for me at the Moment!

The Edge of Redemption was the perfect fit for my reading rut. After a few light-angst books in a row, this darker storyline was what I needed. There's nothing like broken souls finding and trying to mend each other. The blurb says it all, however it's in the details with these characters.

Jace and AJ have different kinds of past trauma and end up in grief counseling for different reasons other than for themselves. AJ is there for her seven year old niece and Jace is there for his entire family. Neither one thinks they need to be there and don't realize it's the best thing to happen to them in years.

"You find the beauty in what the world deems useless or unimportant."

Along with tortured souls, this book is a bit of an opposites attract. I loved the free spirit AJ molded herself into due to her upbringing and how it contrasted with the rigid Jace. These two completed each other in more ways than one. It's a struggle chapter after chapter dealing with the past and present, buried feelings and complete despair. While it didn't seem so on the surface, this couple had instant chemistry.

"I'm not okay," I whisper.
"Me either," she whispers back.

They aren't ok and that's okay. The book is well written and heavy. Not dark and not necessarily angsty, but heavy with some light for a nice balance. I loved these characters, as well as the family members we meet that round the story out. The Edge of Redemption reads well as a standalone, however I think I'm going to check out the first books in the series.

"It's hard to grieve someone who's already been dead to you. The day my sister chose the life she wanted to have over me, was the day that she died. The accident that took them away from this world was just the final piece of the puzzle."

AJ's life is turned upside down with the death of her sister and brother-in-law. She's not sure she's ready to handle the niece who was left without parents. But she knew she would step up. No way would she allow Beatrice to go into the same foster care system that destroyed her. Foster parents who made it clear she was not wanted and pushed her desire to head out of town the moment she turned 18.

Jace's loss is too big. It's bigger than he can manage and happened while he was too young to try. After losing his childhood love, he can't get past the darkness. So much so that he tries more than once to stay in the darkness.

AJ and Jace shouldn't work - that's for sure. They have more than one negative run-in. Yet, everything about them does work. The heartaches they share, the losses they've been through - those are just a fraction of what brings them together.

This is my first read by this author. I haven't read others in the series, but this stood on it's own just fine. That being said, I liked it so much, I'll be going back to read the first two.

Ok, this book had me cycling through all of my feelings! I don’t know if I can coherently express the love I feel for this wonderful story. It really is a story of redemption, a story of coming back from the edge, from the brink of irreversible repair. I found myself laughing until I was completely out of breath and dizzy to crying where I couldn’t see the words on the screen. Kristen was so masterful in telling this story of two individuals Jace and AJ who initially meet in passing and instantly disliked each other, but keep coming in contact. Then they find themselves connected by grief and loss as they are a part of the same grief group. The more time they spend together, the more they find that they’re pushing each other back into the sun, into the light, and out of the pain of their shadows. They become more than each other’s partners in grief, they become a part of each other’s lives, they’re pulled into each other’s orbit, and not wanting to let go. KRISTEN, you made this pain real! I felt Jace and AJ’s every emotion. I felt Bella’s heartbreak. Grams…she made my stomach hurt from laughing at her, and I will absolutely refuse any candy that little woman offers. This book was amazing, emotional, heartbreaking, romantic, sweet, deep, and beautiful! The supporting characters were amazing as everyone were family and banded together to help and support each other. I can’t recommend this book more than to say GO READ IT NOW!

Jace and AJ were worth all of the tears spilled over my kindle. There may be some water damage...but again worth it. I am in awe of Kristin's writing and the way she was able to take these beautifully broken characters and make them whole again, right before my eyes. She healed them in a way that felt so real, so raw, I almost forgot they were fictional characters.

"Grief is the master teacher, and if you choose to learn, you can experience love, acceptance, and peace but if you choose not to listen, you run."

Jace has been blinded by his own grief for a long time, struggling to find meaning to his life after the loss of his girlfriend. He's hid the pain well though, or so he thinks until finally it becomes too much. He just wants to be free again like he once was. See his firefly girl again and feel the sun on his skin one more time. When he as no other choice but to suffer through a grief support group he meets the infuriating, tattooed, pink haired, AJ.

AJ has one thing on her mind and that's getting her and her now orphaned niece back to California but the only way the courts are going to let her get custody of her is if she can appear to be stable and fit to care for her. She doesn't need a grief support group but she'll do whatever she has to to keep the only family she has left out of the system, she knows all to well of. but the universe has a funny way of putting you right where you need to be, even if it's the last place you want to be. She hates this town and the sexy grump she can't seem to avoid.

"I've been trying to convince myself that I need to go, but I want to be here, with you, because you're what I've been searching for."

"Yeah, people are meant to come and go in your life,"

Jace & AJ love story is one full of hope and inspiration on keep fighting. Both are healing from past lost that still affect their hearts even now. Over the time they have togther they heal each like they are the missing pieces in their lives.

It was not a smooth sail. This is a grumpy guy meet little sunshine. What I love about AJ even though she smiles & laugh with everyone she is hurting too just doesn't show it when Jace is a difficult man he keeps his pain deep down and shield with humor.

The pace of their love is perfect and yes they started from hating each other to undying love for each other. I love with Beatric / Belle calls Jace, Uncle Jace and I think she brought some life back into him too. Little Belle is going through grief too from the lost of her parents and she has 2 amazing people in her life to understand grief. She is only 7 years old and she is still learning about lost. I love that all 3 of them help heal each other and let's just say their family until gets bigger...no spoilers

Their is a happy ending & it's perfect loving ending. Life is messy and it can drag you down but remember their is light in the darkness. Don't give up and always speak up for whenever you are lost ❤️

4 Stars for this heart-wrenching story!

Make sure you have the tissues handy as this is a really emotional read. Jace is just a mean jerk ... I know he went through a lot but he didn't have to take it out on others. I loved AJ ... she is such a free spirit despite her upbringing. This story deals with very sensitive subjects that tugged at my heartstrings. I love it when a book has kids in it and Belle is a real sweetheart.

Jace has been broken for the last ten years, ever since his girlfriend killed herself. He used to be carefree, but now he has trouble concentrating on anything but Bailey. AJ and her sister grew up in foster care and as soon as she finished school she headed to California and never looked back. But when her sister and husband die in a car accident, she goes back to care for her seven-year-old niece as AJ is the only family that Belle has. When Jace and AJ meet in a grief support group, they immediately get on each other nerves. But there is an attraction between them and neither one of their lives will be the same.

Jace endured a devastating loss a decade yesterday, but he still feels the pain as deeply as if it happened yesterday. He is filled with guilt and regret about what could have been and has distanced himself from everyone in his life. It is only when AJ comes into his life that he begins to feel again.

AJ has endured a devastating loss of her own and now her only focus is being there for her niece Belle and ensuring that she doesn’t lose the person she loves the most. As infuriating as she finds Jace she can’t stay away but will the tragedies they have been dealt bring them closer or tear them apart?

This is an emotional story about love, loss and starting over as Jace and AJ and their struggles draw you in and have you invested in seeing them find the happiness they both deserve.

This was a great emotional read. I went on a emotional journey that I wasn’t expecting to take, but I’m so happy I did! Jace has been on an emotional roller coaster that he can’t seam to get off of. He has a extremely supportive and loving family he just can’t get off the ride. AJ had a extremely dysfunctional childhood and has just recently suffered a loss. She now has to pick up the pieces and help her niece. I truly enjoyed this well written sometimes raw story. The characters had amazing depth and found each other when they truly needed to find someone who understood each other. I look forward to reading more books by this author.

Absolutely LOVED Jace and AJ's story.

Both of these characters have been through so much in their lives, and they are still healing from it. I will say that Belle stole my heart though, and I just wanted to wrap that little girl up in a great big hug. Oh my heart.

Have the tissues handy, because you will need them. Especially if you are an emotional reader. (like me)

Highly recommend this book, as well as the series in general. This small town romance series is absolutely fabulous.

(and it was completely worth staying up way too late so that I could stay in that world a bit longer)

Oh wow, I wasn't sure what I was getting myself into with this book as I was bawling by the second chapter and I never really stopped while reading this book.

This book is covered in grief and all different types from pets, parents, partners, and siblings. It felt like a love letter to both those who have lost someone and those we've lost along the way. The title of this book is spot on with the feelings both Jace and AJ have after the deaths in their lives.

Guilt is a tricky thing and it's even worse when it connected to things we wish we had done after someone dies and that's what both Jace and AJ are dealing with. It causes their personalities to be wildly different and I loved how their differences is what helped them both process their grief. Along the way, a romantic relationship was built but it wasn't a easy road for them as they are still learning so much about themselves.

The Edge of Redemption is book 3 in the Edge series and in my opinion the heaviest book. I feel emotionally drained. Don't get me wrong, I loved it, but I didn't expect the book to be that heavy. The moment I read The Edge of Happiness I desperately wanted to read Jace's book and oh god, it was so beautiful and so painful at the same time. It's full of emotions, it's sad, but it also makes you happy. Highly recommended <3

3.5 stars. *CHECK TW’s* This was a beautiful story about finding yourself after experiencing a trauma. While I loved the message behind it, I struggled to connect to the characters. I do think this is a great book for someone who really connects to these characters in a way I couldn’t. *I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I devoured this book in a day. Yikes I still feel overly emotional thinking about it. What happens when angry grump guy meets sunshine heartbroken girl? Read this story and you will find out. Jace and AJ have a unique telling that leaves my throat tight and stomach in knots.

Grief and loss is a huge part of this book. Yes you will get some sad but more importantly you will experience some touching moments that still have me swimming with a variety of feelings. The icing on the cake is AJ’s niece as well as the bonus of a full cast of characters.

I had a little confusion a couple times with some storyline elements but truthfully it could have just been me. Overall I loved this book. The evolution of this story felt authentic in its view of grief and what a beast it is. As the details are revealed in the simplest of ways, all I could do was read faster. This book felt worthy of 4.5 stars.

I can’t wait to experience other stories from this author. Happy Reading Everyone! XOXO

This is a book full of hope. The main characters have faced many difficulties in the past and they are slowly moving forward toward a better future but are struggling how to get there.

They find each other accidentally and start opening up to each other more even though it’s tough.

AJ lost two people close to her and she’s struggling with raising her niece who she never truly knew. She is going day by day, one step at a time, and learning her new reality.

Meanwhile, Jace is lying to himself and the world. He lost someone many years ago and still can’t find his way out of the darkness.

The Edge of Redemption is full of everything and I felt like I grieved and grew up with the characters when I was reading a book. It’s one of the best books I have read this year and the book that made me hope that there are great books out there after having so many DNFs lately.

This book just completely wrecked me. My heart was shredded to pieces but slowly was pieced back together. Jace and AJ started off of the wrong foot but they slowly started to see beyond the surface. It took sometime but they got it right in the end.

I just finished The Edge of Redemption, book three of The Edge Series by Kristin Turnage, and I have to say, I’m a bit of an emotional wreck right now.

This book is really two love stories in one. Aurora Jane (AJ) arrives back in her hometown of Oaks, North Carolina, after the deaths of her sister and brother-in-law in a traffic accident. She’s there to take care of her niece, get things settled, and return to California so she can get on with her life. While attending group counseling for grief, AJ meets Jace, a man who is still struggling with grief over the suicide of his girlfriend years before. They immediately dislike one another, but as they work through their trauma and grief, they begin to have feelings for one another. As AJ takes on the job of parenting her niece, a little family of friends begins to form, and AJ’s feelings for Jace begin to deepen.

There’s such an emotional depth to this book, and I think everyone can relate to experiencing the loss of a loved one. The way the author crafts the relationship between AJ and Belle while at the same time slowly developing her relationship with Jace is amazing. It’s not just a romantic love story, it’s a love story about family, friendship, and self. There are some triggers related to suicide, drugs, and loss of a loved one, but the author handles these topics with sensitivity and without judgment. I loved the slow opening hearts of the characters.

This book is part of an interconnected series, but can be read as a stand-alone. I know you’ll love it, so be sure to let me know what you think! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Book 3 in The Edge Series. I've been anticipating Jace's story since the very beginning and it packed quite the punch. Jace and AJ's story is heartbreaking, emotional, sweet, heavy but all heart. Losing her sister and brother in law, Aurora is the only family her niece has, and she is doing everything she can to gain custody of her sweet niece. While trying to navigate her new life, she meets a grumpy, handsome fella, Jace, who already has some hostility towards her. They are so different, yet going through something similar. They need each other more than they realize. Although they butt heads quite a bit, walls slowly start to fall, and AJ starts to feel more at home, but is this home? She is supposed to return home to California.........

I really enjoyed their story, small town romance with a great community and circle of friends who would do anything for each other. Grieving, growing up, moving on but never forgetting who was important in their lives. Belle, her niece, such a sweet little girl(make sure you have kleenex!!) Jace and AJ were fantastic together, the friends were great. They brought the humor and just all love each other so much. "Church" is one of my favorite parts of this series. Heads up, this book does involve subject of suicide and grief. I loved seeing the characters from the other books in AJ and Jace's story. Looking forward to the next book!

This is the third book in this incredible series and is Jace and AJ’s journey. These two meets each other when they are both at the lowest point in their lives, and from the moment they meet they butt heads, until they listen to each other and find out that they have more in common than first thought. These two complement each other perfectly. This is a beautifully written story which has challenges, secrets, emotions, grief, loss, communication, trauma, healing, and love, which leads to a riveting and addictive page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

This is the first book I've read by the author and I'm really glad I picked this one up because it was such a great intro to the author's writing. I loved all the feelings that Jace and AJ gave me while reading their story. Their story is emotional, the kind that will rip you apart. But you're still going to love it. Their journey was not easy, filled with struggles, trauma, grief and loss. But beautiful nonetheless. I highly recommend reading their amazing story.

This book made me feel all the feels and the emotions kind of ripped me to pieces but in the end the author did make it better.

Jace and AJ are two individuals with a very heavy past and a very complicated history of issues. I do not envy either of them in any capacity. It made me sad at times to see their journey. It hurt me to see and feel everything but this story is definitely 100% worth it.

This story will rip your heart out and you will hurt for them but its also a read that will stay with me. Definitely pick this read up!
