From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Carly Phillips comes a new story in her Sexy series…

Learning curves have never been so off-limits.

Professor Shane Warden is on the verge of getting tenure. He never thought he'd see the day, after a false accusation from a student years ago that nearly destroyed his career, and decimated his ability to trust. But the moment he walks into class and lays eyes on the seductive blonde with legs that go on forever and lips he immediately wants to kiss, he knows he’s in trouble.

This time for real.

Single mom Amber Davis is finally living her dream of going back to college. In the ten years since she dropped out to have a baby--and recover from his father's death--it's been the goal that always felt just out of reach. Until now. But one look at her hot, sexy professor, and Amber is head over heels in lust. It doesn’t take long before their attraction blazes out of control.

Neither of them can afford a forbidden affair.
Yet it's the one thing they are powerless to stop.

It will only take one hint of a rumor to destroy everything they’ve worked so hard to achieve... and in this case the rumors are true.

**For fans of Carly’s Sexy Series, Sexy Love is book four in that series.**

Cute professor/student love story!

I enjoyed this Insta-Love romance about a professor that had been burned by a scorned student in the past and a new student returning to college years after quitting to raise a child when her boyfriend tragically died. The dialogue seemed a bit stilted at first, or possibly it just took me a while to get into the story. But after a bit I really liked the characters of Professor Shane Warden and Amber Davis and the story flowed much better.

The story begins with Amber Davis moving into a new house in a college town with L.J., her 10 year old son. Amber had been living with her parents in Florida since L.J. was born. She quit college her second year when her boyfriend Levi died in a hazing incident and she found out she was pregnant shortly after. Levi’s twin and his two friends helped Amber buy the house and are helping her pay for school with profits from their successful night club in New York.

L.J.’s Grandparents are taking him on a trip for the summer so Amber can get settled and start summer classes to get back in the swing of attending college again. She meets Shane on her first night in town and they are attracted to each other but soon find out that he is her professor so seeing each other socially is not allowed especially given Shane’s history.

Though both Shane and Amber haven’t dated anyone in quite a while and are very attracted to one another. The story gets quite steamy and is pretty cute as well. It is insta-love so they move pretty fast. There are some side storylines as well.

I have a ton of Carly Phillips' books on my TBR shelf but this is the first one I have read....what’s taken me so long?!?!? I have no idea, but I have said this time and time again THANK YOU to 1,001 Dark Nights for bringing us these novellas. Books like this one gives the authors a chance to bring readers characters they normally wouldn't have written a story for and it gives readers a chance to enter the series without having to start from the beginning.

Sexy Love
By: Carly Phillips

REVIEW-☆☆☆☆
I always look forward to reading a new 1001 Dark Nights Collection novella. The latest is Sexy Love by Carly Phillips. This story has the forbidden element of a teacher student relationship, but it's not the typical kind. The teacher had a previous student accusation years ago, but he has earned the respect of his peers through hard work. Doing anything to jeopardize his standing would be foolish now. The student is a beautiful blonde, and there is much more to her than first appearances suggest. She is a single mother with a young son. The child's father is, tragically, dead, yet she dreams of a better life for her son. I admire her ambition, and obviously, she doesn't wish to mess up her life in any way. Fate conspires, however, and when teacher and student meet, trouble begins brewing in the air. Try as they might, some attractions can't be denied. They share an excellent chemistry and the dynamic between them is electric. This type of thing, a forbidden teacher student romance, is often mishandled and treated as a trashy kinky joke. This story treats the subject with appropriate respect and sensitivity. I'm glad because not everything is what it seems on the surface, and actual love can form this way. Will they be together outside of the classroom? What about the consequences for this situation? I enjoyed this novella as a compelling delightful read. I definitely recommend for fans of the 1001 Dark Nights Collection and Carly Phillips!

~ 5 Forbidden Stars ~

What another great story by Carly Phillips. This novella was perfect for this series. I loved Amber and Shane’s story.

This story had a little bit of everything I like in a book. It’s a forbidden romance between a teacher and his student but it was also a single parent story which I always gravitate towards.

Even though this is a novella it lacked for nothing. Carly was able to invoke all the same feelings I get when reading one of her full length novels, all wrapped up in this novella. I thought this story blended right into this series perfectly. We meet Amber throughout this series but I don’t believe you have to read the other books before reading this book. Carly fills in the blanks when something might be missing. You won’t feel lost at all while reading Amber and Shane’s story.

Sexy Love is the 4th story in Carly’s Sexy series. It is a standalone novella that is told in Dual POV from the third person. I loved the storyline and characters. I thought the flow and pace worked well for this couple.

I truly loved Shane and Amber’s story. I was sucked in from the beginning. I actually couldn’t wait to read this book from the time we met Amber. I thought Carly wrote the perfect story for Amber and her son and Shane.

I loved seeing the other characters in this story as well. It is great when a series wraps up perfectly with everyone getting their HEA. This is definitely a series/novella I would recommend to all romance readers. Pick up a Carly Phillips book, you won’t be sorry!!!!

Sexy Love is a novella in the Sexy series by Carly Phillips. It's stand-alone and if you have read any of the other books in the series you will know Amber from there. She is the mother of Levi's child and we have seen her around. I was happy to see that she would get a story and ever happier to read it.

I really liked this story. When I think of Shane and Amber's relationship the first word that pops into my mind is natural. These two were simply great together and everything felt like it happened like it was supposed to do. Of course, there is the forbidden element that was added to the story since Shane is Amber's teacher, but I thought it was handled very well. Both characters were likable. What I would have liked to see was Shane and Amber's son together. Other than that there wasn't a single thing I didn't like about this book. I would recommend it.

Loved this student/teacher romance. Shane and Amber were so good together. They met before they find out that they are going to be student/teacher and Shane has gone through this before. Amber is just trying to go back to school after a loss in her life and moving to have her son closer to his father’s family. Will they be able to stay apart or will the pull of the attraction between them pull them back together. Loved this story so much. You never go wrong when you pick up a Carly Phillips story and this was no exception.

Loved this fun and flirty insta-love romance between Amber and Shane as it was fun and flirty and "oh", so cute.I loved the characters they were amazing and a whole lot of fun.I loved how Amber and LJ had such a large support system and although they suffered a horrible loss they made a incredible family forged through amazing friendships and a whole lot of love.

Shane's and Amber connection was immediate and their chemistry amazing but, obstacle's are in their way but, I loved how they worked around things and began courting in an unconventional way but, perfect for them.

Overall I loved everything about the story right down to its characters and as I was reading the story I had a smile on my face the entire time. What's more perfect than that ?

The first thing I though when I finished this story was how cute and mature it turned out to be. Both Amber and Shame dealt with their insta-attraction in a mature way which turned the story into not such a cliché for me. When a story is this short and you throw in a taboo trope, the stories seem to follow the same trend in plot points but Sexy Love didn’t do that for me. It didn’t even read taboo to me. It was perfect and I enjoyed it very much. There was a lot of heart and emotion and plenty of sexy to keep me glued to the story! Well done!

I really enjoy these 1001 Dark Nights books because they give us another story in the world that the author has created but they aren't always necessary to the storyline. Amber's story wasn't totally necessary to the Sexy series but I'm really glad we got it. It was a cute professor/student story but the fact that Amber as a character accepted that she was different than the other students in her class was really great. The story also moved along quickly with not every day or even week being discussed. I highly suggest this one as a great conclusion to the Sexy series.

SEXY LOVE is the fourth instalment in Carly Phillips’ contemporary, adult SEXY erotic, romance series, and the latest instalment in the multi-authored 1001 Dark Nights series of novellas. This is college professor Shane Warden, and single mother/student Amber Davis’ story line. SEXY LOVE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous instalments is revealed where necessary.

SOME BACKGROUND: Several years earlier college freshman Levi Bennett was killed during a hazing incident at college. Little did anyone know that Levi left behind a pregnant girlfriend, whose son would never know his father, but gain 3 uncles in the process.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Shane and Amber) SEXY LOVE follows the building but forbidden relationship between college professor Shane Warden, and single mother/student Amber Davis. Amber Davis moved from Jacksonville Florida to Linton Connecticut in an effort to live closer to her son’s extended family. With plans to finish college, Amber would accidentally meet Shane Warden, a man who stirred something deep within our story line heroine but to both of their shock, Shane was Amber’s economics professor, and Shane had already experienced the fall-out of one rumoured affair that almost destroyed his career. What ensues is the building but secret relationship between Amber and Shane, and the potential fall-out when as their affair is about to become public knowledge.

SEXY LOVE is a story of starting over and second chances for both Amber and Shane. Shane is getting a second chance to teach, and Amber is given a second chance at love.As our couple navigate a potential minefield of damaging situations, neither one expected from where, was a likely source.

The relationship between Amber and Shane is one of immediate attraction but neither one was aware of the possible teacher-student match up. Amber was returning to college to finish her degree, and Shane was starting over in an effort to recoup his career. The $ex scenes are intimate and intense, without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

The secondary and supporting characters include Amber’s son LJ, Levi’s brother Landon Bennett (Better Than Sexy #3), Landon’s parents, several fellow students, and Dean Frost.

SEXY LOVE is a fast paced, feel good romance with a little bit of the forbidden although both Amber and Shane were thirty years old. The premise is captivating and engaging; the romance is passionate; the characters are energetic and colorful.

~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads ~~

This is the fourth in the series - and if you have not read the previous ones, you will undoubtedly enjoy this lovely novella, but let me tell you ready the series is even better!

Fans of this series will be delighted that Amber, Levi's girlfriend at the time he dies, also gets her HEA. The trio of previous books gave the three men who were with him at the hazing, and have lived their lives with the guilt of not saving him, have also supported Amber, and been great uncles to their son, L.J. Their latest actions enabling her to return to college and finish her degree. The story is fun even without this intense backstory, but is really lovely for the reader who has been on the journey with them all and seen how much their lives have altered.

Student / Professor romances are often fun, although usually the age difference does lead to a significant issue of power - but here the pair are matched in age, and in life experience, so it all comes down to ethics. I really enjoyed how the exposing of the romance was done, a very clever twist indeed.

I really enjoyed the escapism this well written romance afforded me, thank you Carly Phillips!

Sexy Love is a nice addition to the Sexy series with the story focussing on Amber, who we already know was Levi’s college girlfriend and mother of the son he never got to meet 😢

Amber has moved closer to the Ten29 team in order to regain control of her life by completing college and moving forward with the career she put on hold to care for her son. She certainly doesn’t plan on falling for the sexy man she bumps into on her first day at the college campus.

Unfortunately, and despite the intense attraction between Amber and Shane there is an unforeseen barrier to them pursuing a relationship. Shane is a professor at the college and just happens to be taking the course Amber is attending for a colleague. There is also an issue in Shane’s past which prevents him from acting on his desire for Amber, which would make anyone cautious but Shane more so than others.

Regardless of the barriers between them, Shane and Amber are inevitable with their interactions developing naturally. Sadly, their feelings for each other are able to be used against them via vindictiveness.

Will Amber and Shane be able to withstand the forces against them? What will happen when Summer is over? Read Sexy Love to find out…

This book was as hot and as fun as you want a forbidden teacher romance to be.

Shane and Amber meet before they know he is her professor...and once they realize that they can't be together, they fight their attraction.

It doesn't work.

And, that is to the benefit of the readers, as this title is a lot of fun and I recommend it.

Sweet, steamy quickie...

Amber is a sassy, stubborn, independent, single mom, but she knows when to take some help. So when her son's uncles, both honorary and genetic, help her buy a house where she wants to go to school, she accepts their help, and so finds herself in a new journey where she has a meet cute with a mysterious stranger named Shane.

Who turns out to be her economics professor, surprising them both.

Initially, because Shane was burnt in the past he tries to resist his draw to the lovely Amber. But eventually passion wins out.

Just the right mix of passion, drama, and a hint of the bookiverse. You don't have to have read anything else but you will probably have your curiosity roused by it.

Loved this little quickie.

M/F Romance
I was given this book for an honest review by Wicked Reads.

Professor Shane loves his job. He enjoys watching his students learn the material and really understand it. While he knows that sometimes people will take advantage - as he has first hand experience, he wants to believe that most people are good.

Amber loves her life, but she wants something more. After leaving college when she found out she was pregnant and that the love of her life was killed, she has allowed herself to be helped by her very best friends and now she's back to college.

These two have to dance around their own preconceived notions and while they want to move their relationship along, know that it's best that they keep their relationship professional.

I really enjoyed watching these two figure out how they were going to navigate what they want with what they need, in the moment. I really enjoy seeing all of these characters and this story was sexy, funny and sweet.

Pretty romance with good feelings, a good man, and family warmth all over.

I enjoyed the maturity of themes throughout this novella. It actually ties to a trilogy of stories around a club that I also liked a lot, the Sexy Series. In this case, the female character is a single mum with a sad past but full of plans for the future. I admire her ambition to study in order to provide a better life for her young son. That’s how she meets a handsome man with whom she has great chemistry. However, he ends up being her economics teacher. Thus the conflict.

A combination of things make this story well developed, serious yet also hot and romantic. They act responsibly, yet they can't deny their special bond. They respect each other’s needs and safety, yet they also fall into a passionate relationship.

I liked how she supports him in a delicate matter, and how he protects them both regarding the classes. The danger of discovery is handled bravely and I think the resolution is perfect. Very nice wrap-up to all the characters involved.

What a great quick read. I love novellas because they are just the right size for me. I really enjoyed this book because I could feel the connection from the start. This was sort of forbidden love but it was more of a single mother and her struggle to balance life while going back to school. It is definitely harder as you get older and I loved that she was able to achieve her dreams while finding the love of her life.

I loved reading about Levi’s girlfriend and her son ten years after Levi died in college. I was glad to see that Amber let Levi’s twin brother and other two friends help her move, get a house, and start back in college. I know it was hard for Amber to see her son leave for a few weeks to be with Levi’s parents. It was nice that she will have time to ease back into school without her son there. I loved how she met Shane, but was sad to see that he ended up being her professor. Especially since Shane had a bad experience with a student in his last University. There is a student that wants to make trouble for Amber. I wanted to punch him! I enjoyed this short story and strongly encourage you to read the book.

This was a quick and absorbing novella featuring Amber and her son L.J whose dad Levi was killed in a hazing incident during college ten years ago, and whose uncles Landon, Tanner, and Jase own and run ClubTEN29. And it was certainly an enjoyable, sweet and easy read with likable characters and little angst, and for me it perfectly rounded off the Sexy series.

Would happily recommend.

I love 1001 Dark Nights books. They are quick little reads that give me the escape I need after a long day at work. I was happy to read this one. First because I am a huge Carly Phillips fan.

After Amber’s college boyfriend tragically dies in a college hazing incident, she finds herself pregnant with his baby. She was fortunate enough to have a strong support system. Not only from her parents but from her boyfriend’s best friends, twin and parents. She loves being a mom but she always wanted to go back to school. Finally willing to take the plunge, she moves her and her son from Florida to Connecticut to attend college.

While exploring her new campus, she runs right into Shane. They hit if off immediately. All seems great until she shows up to class the next day to find Shane is her professor. Shane has career goals and falling for his student is one sure way of derailing them. But can they resist each other or will they give into what they both wants? Consequences be damned.

This book made me a swooning, happy mess. I couldn’t get enough of Shane and Amber. Amber’s strength and Shane’s honor and integrity. He’s a man any woman would want.

As I haven’t read the three previous books to this series, I came in not knowing anything about Amber and Lj, her ten-year-old son. I immediately felt a connection to Amber’s character, having been a single mother before and trying to better my education to better our life. She comes across as a strong, resilient woman willing to make sacrifices for her son to have more family close to him.
Shane appeals to me as a smart, sexy, sensitive hero who’s been burned by life but hasn’t let it get him down. This character always appeals to me because they seem more realistic than others I’ve read. He is dedicated to his career and also about what he does and doesn’t want in life and love.
Of course, as it always happens, life throws curveballs when we least expect it. Shane and Amber’s attraction is instant, and their lives combine in a whirlwind of emotion, sex and keeping their distance. Their want of each other and reluctance to pursue it because of their teacher/student relationship are written well.
Lj appears briefly but seems like a fun, loveable boy and his biological and surrogate uncles (heroes of the previous series books) are predictably protective and platonic but endearing in their interactions with both Amber and Lj.
I wish there had been more book in the build-up, flirting and trouble staying away from each other. I didn’t really see it necessary for Amber to think less of her relationship with Lj’s father because of her feelings for Shane. Both loves were valid and big parts of her life.
This is a great fast, sexy read guaranteed to make you want to read the previous books.

So this happen; Amber finally found her HEA. And what a man Shane turned out to be. He was thoughtful, caring, hot and would do anything for her. After everything that happened to her she deserved to end up with a man who worships the ground she walks on.

As a conclusion to a series this was awesome ending and I'm kinda sad to see this group of friends and their significant other go.

I enjoyed the perfectly sweet ball of fluffy goodness that was this novella. A sweet way to cap off a sexy series!

Amber Davis has had some unexpected things happen, that altered her life from what she thought it might be. When she was 20, her college boyfriend Levi died after a terrible hazing incident, and she found that she was pregnant shortly after. She dropped out of college and went home to her parents, and they've helped her for the last 10 years. Her son LJ is a great kid, and she wants him to be closer to his father's family too, so she moves them up to a small college town in Connecticut. That way, Levi's parents can help her out with childcare, and she can go back to school. She needs to be able to provide a better life for LJ, and the best way to do that is to finish college.

Shane Warden is an economics professor, and he LOVES to teach. It's what he always wanted to do. A few years ago, a false accusation from a student almost cost him his job for good, and ever since then he's been vigilant about focusing only on his job, and staying on track for tenure. When he meets Amber on campus one evening, and they share a meal together, he knows how difficult her life has been. He likes her, and he was raised by a single mom too, so he understands her life better than most. But, can he overcome his trust issues and let someone in?

I really loved Shane and Amber's connection. They were trying to be responsible, but they really wanted each other so much. Amber was no young girl, but a 30-year-old woman, so dating her professor didn't seem like that big of a deal. But, due to his past experience, Shane was understandably reluctant. Additionally, Amber had the summer term to herself, as LJ was staying with his grandparents, but her life would be much more complicated once he came home. They each had to decide if their connection was strong enough, and important enough to them, to pursue it, against all odds.

Of course I loved seeing the heroes from the prior books in this series, though I always wish we could see a bit more. I loved their connection to Amber, and how they wanted to care for her and LJ. I loved how Levi's family embraced Amber, and of course LJ, all these years, and were good to her. I wish we had gotten a little more insight into Amber as a person before parenthood, and how she dealt with Levi's death, though I know in a novella, there's not space for much deeper introspection.

I loved Shane and Amber's connection, and I liked how they were unable to stop thinking about each other, even while staying apart. This was such a sweet story, while still steamy, and I liked that the drama between them was external, and not internal, once they agreed to take the risk on each other. This was a sweet end to the Sexy series and I loved these characters so much. I can't wait to see what the author will be tackling next!

Must read

I love Carly Phillips' books. This little nugget is no exception. This novella is part of the Sexy series. However, it is a stand-alone with no cliffhanger. I do suggest you read other books. Not because you have to, just because they are fabulous. This story is a single mom who wanted a new start. Amber decided to move closer to her son's grandparents. She also decides to return to school. Before school starts Amber wanted to walk the campus. Not looking where they are going, Amber "bumps" into Shane. After having a meal together and going their separate ways, their next meeting was in class. To their shock Shane is Amber's professor. After leaving Shane's last job for being wrongful accused he know it couldn't happen again.

This is the fourth book in the Sexy Series and it can be read as a standalone. Amber is a young woman who is getting a fresh start by moving to be closer to her son LJ’s grandparents, uncle and non-related uncles as she returns to college to get a degree and give her son a better life. Shane is an economics professor who is on track for tenure and teaching an introductory economics class over the summer session. Prior to the actual start of the session, Amber is out and about and gets lost in her new environment when she literally bumps into Shane. There is an instant spark between them yet it was not meant to be. When classes actually start, Amber is shocked to see that the man she bumped into is now her economics professor. Will Amber and Shane be able to keep everything professional between them or will they succumb to their feelings? This is one fast and enjoyable read that will give you that happy feeling inside. The chemistry between the characters is palpable. If you like reading the student/teacher romance genre then this is one to add to your tbr list. I volunteered to read an advance copy of this book.

Solid addition to the series

A side character brought to the forefront. Amber had been mentioned it a few of the other stories in the series. We get her story past and present. We even see a bit of her future. Shane finds a connection with a woman. An attraction like he has never felt before. He 's not sure he wants to feel it now. See how this professor and student find a way to make it work.

Can one person get back the life they used to have before adulthood took over? Can one man teach his school lesson without losing his heart in the process? We have Shane Warden who has worked on the good side yet when it comes to Amber Davis he is well confused. Shane is taught to do good and never fall to well the old student/teacher releationship everybody is fond of right now. He has tried to be a good teacher never becoming a cliche but something about Amber makes him want to be there for her. Then we have Amber who at a young age became a mom to the most cutest little kid ever but now is ready to follow her dreams. I loved that Carly Phillips brings us well all back together and finally see the girl that could have been Levi's. The attraction between them is cute and sweet but dang once everything is out there it gets explosive. We see a young woman getting back in the saddle so to speak and a man who cannot stop loving a woman his heart wants. All in all this series is one you don't want to miss and almost feels like we have come full circle with everything that has happened. Loved it.

The story opens with Amber relocating with her son L.J. who gets to spend the summer with his grandparents while Amber settles in and gets accustomed to her new town and returning to school.

Amber's first venture into the small college town finds her a bit lost - but never fear because Shane is here (come on it was cute) and for the first time in a long time Amber finds herself a bit sidetracked.
These two hit it off right away
Maybe they should have shared a bit more personal info?

This is inst-love and it works. I admit I was a bit unhappy with Shane in the beginning. His defensive mechanisms were a bit skewed but he makes up for as their relationship progresses.
Both of them are a bit tentative to dive into uncharted waters especially with their past experiences but thankful the draw they each feel is more powerful than any reservations they may have.

This was another spot-on addition to the 1001 dark nights collection and I found a new series/author that I intend to explore more
