Mid-Atlantic 2021 Symposium:
Integrating Place and Pedagogy to Foster Active Learning: What Works

June 16, 2021
Online | 2:00 PM-4:00 PM ET

Over the past year the pandemic has brought many challenges to higher education as well as opportunities to shape future learning spaces. Planners from four universities will explore how active learning environments are evolving on their campuses, leading to more engaging learning experiences and improving student outcomes. Come join us for a lively discussion about how space optimization, thoughtful furniture selection, and strategic technology implementation all contribute to the design of “the perfect active learning classroom”.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Discuss how you can transform a wide range of campus environments—from new buildings to recaptured spaces—into active learning classrooms of the future.
  2. Identify elements such as furniture, technology, and other tools that can evaluate the efficacy of space, elevate the student learning experience, and improve outcomes.
  3. Explain how the pandemic has influenced teaching methods and changed the future of active learning environments.
  4. Define hybrid/hyflex space and describe how you can apply it on your campus.

Please Note: This session will include an interactive, hands-on breakout rooms as part of the program.
