Understanding and Responding to your Child’s Mental Health Needs
in the Time of COVID Workshop

Parenting is a tough job, and it is even tougher now due to the drastic changes many children and youth have had to face over the past year due to COVID-19. The full scope of the impact of the pandemic on our youth is yet to be determined. However, we may see our children experiencing a heightened degree of frustration, unsure of their standing academically, excessive concerns for personal and family health and safety, and uncertainty for their future. This FREE workshop will be held on Thursday, May 13th @ 4 PM. Space is limited. To learn more and register, click here.

CVCHS Clubs, Clubs & More Clubs!!!

Want to get involved, meet other students, and make new friends? Join a club! Check the list for new clubs being added! There's something for everyone. Look for more information about club meeting dates and times on Schoology and in upcoming newsletters.

College, Career & Guidance

Class of 2021

Don’t forget to complete your Senior Survey ASAP. Each year, seniors are required to complete it in order to provide CV with feedback about their high school experience and future plans! This information also helps aid CV in planning end-of-the-year celebrations for the graduating class. As part of the survey, you will also be requesting your FINAL TRANSCRIPT for your selected college. Please contact Ms. Domian if you have any questions.

Class of 2022

Whether you’re ready to begin applying or are unsure of which college is right for you, we’ve added guides and tools in Schoology to help you get started (Class of 2022 > Resources > College Counseling).

If you haven't already, we would also highly encourage you to watch the 11th grade orientation video. The counselors provide an overview of the college application process (timeline, requirements, etc.) and instructions for your Naviance task.

Please check your student email for a timeline that covers all of your important tasks, month-by-month, leading up to your graduation! And, don’t worry! There will be a lot more information to come, but we’ll keep a steady workable pace as you begin this exciting process!

Scholarship Opportunities & Info

Don't forget... There are tips and resources for financial aid and scholarships posted on the Counseling webpage. We update scholarship opportunities weekly in Naviance, which also has a built-in national scholarship search database!

Summer Opportunities

Looking to add to your college resume this summer? Interested in learning more about a specific career? We’ve posted a list of programs that cover a wide array of academic interests as well as local internship opportunities. These opportunities provide students with a chance to further explore their interests, gain hands-on experience, get a taste of college life, and develop new skills. Plus, taking part in a summer program or internship demonstrates to colleges that you’re committed to learning. Check out the Enrichment Programs section in Naviance! (Naviance > Research Colleges > Enrichment Programs)

Volunteer Opportunities

If you need or want volunteer hours, you can access projects – plus STEM, medical, internships, and virtual opportunities at Volunteer Crowd. Volunteering is one of four important items on a college application. And, it's fun to do with friends.

Find your next volunteer opportunity at TeensVolunteer.org. The site is free and lists more than 500 opportunities, including ones conducted in-person in the Bay Area and those conducted virtually.
