Vans Founder Paul Van Doren Dies At 90

One of Vans’ founders, Paul Van Doren, passed away from kidney failure yesterday at the age of 90. Van Doren famously “didn’t see the point” of high school, dropping out at 16; 20 years later, in 1966, he would create one of skate culture’s most enduring institutions. Here’s a quote from the man that should give you a pretty good idea of why he is so revered in skate, surf, and anywhere else you might find a pair of Vans:

“Do what’s right. Stand behind what you do every single minute of every day. Take care of people.”
