Collegewood Chronicles
Developing Minds Nurturing Hearts- April 12, 2020
A Note From Dr. Wendland
We are excited to jump back into learning new things when we return from Spring Break on Monday, April 20th! Students will be required to check-in and participate in online learning where teachers will be moving forward with the curriculum. Teachers have shared schedules and learning plans directly with parents. Some of the learning will be live via online platforms and some of the learning will require students to view videos and submit work in online classrooms. Although the events in our local community have pushed us to explore new ways to meet the needs of our kids, I am confident that we have grown and improved practice in a way that will continue to strengthen the education we provide our students.
Some things you can do to help prepare your child for a successful online learning experience include:
1. Setting a schedule that is similar to the school day. Have your child wake-up, eat breakfast and get dressed to prepare for learning
2. Making sure the device being used is charged and ready to use
3. Provide a designated space for your child to participate in online learning that includes room to use paper and write
4. Listen in and be sure to reach out to your child's teacher with questions after the online class has ended
5. Monitor your child's completion of assignments. The teachers will be providing instruction, but students will have assignments to complete before their next meeting.
6. Consider providing your child with headphones if you have multiple children accessing online learning
We continue to update COUGAR TV. Please be sure to check out the latest information and resources by clicking HERE. You will see learning videos and read-alouds done by our teaching team. You can also access learning videos made by people throughout the district at https://learn.wvusd.org where learning resources are added daily.
I will be hosting Coffee With The Principal on Wednesday, April 22nd at 4:15 PM. During this time, I will be available to answer any questions you may have. A link to join the forum will be included in our next newsletter. As always, if there is anything you need or any questions you might have, please reach out to me via email and I will continue doing all I can to help. Enjoy the week ahead with your family.
Be safe and Be well,
