Steamy Teacher Romances #3

Put Me in Detention

"You got married on your divorce-cation?"

That would unfortunately be correct.

I was hanging with the girls, celebrating my divorce when I saw him, my crush, sitting in the corner of the bar all alone. Being single and looking for a wild night, I asked him if he wanted to join me. To my delight, he said yes.

Drinks were consumed, fun was had and then . . . one drunken conversation with a cranky gondolier in Las Vegas led to an Uber lift through a drive-thru wedding chapel with the incredibly hot, British bad boy, Pike Greyson.

On paper, it seemed like I hit the jackpot. And if I wasn't fresh from a toxic marriage, I would have absolutely noticed the finer things about him.

But I wanted nothing to do with being married, so when I arrived back home from my eventful weekend in Vegas, the last thing I expected to see was a new doting husband already moved in.

I asked for an annulment, he pulled a Ross Geller and said no.

That's right, he said NO! Instead, he asked for three months to prove we could be good together.

Insanity clearly knocked him in the head and the only way I could convince him to give up on our sham of a marriage was to show him just how wrong we were for each other. Only problem with that was, he saw right through my every prank, every trick, and every yearning emotion I attempted to mask.

When I was in high school I occasionally read books but was consumed by other teenage things so I didn't take the time to appreciate a good book on a cloudy day, wrapped up in a blanket on the couch. It wasn't until I received a Kindle for Christmas one year that my world completely flipped upside down. When looking for books I came across the Contemporary Romance genre and was sold and I haven't turned back since.

You can either find my head buried in my Kindle, listening to inspiring heart ripping music or typing away on the computer twisting and turning the lives of my characters while driving my readers crazy with anticipation.

I currently reside in beautiful Colorado Springs where the sun is always shining and there is a trail waiting to be hiked on every corner. I share a lovely and warm home with the love of my life and my five, four-legged children.

DNF @ 6% - Beware, Rant ahead...

This was so annoying and was the first in a series of DNFs for me.

Firstly, don't give me a prologue that basically summarizes the first large chunk of your book. The prologue was fine, then I had to read the entire story long and drawn out when you already told me what happened? I tried to read it... then I tried skimming it after I got bored... I made it about forty pages in before I decided I didn't care enough to continue.

The characters were bad. The hero was okay I suppose, I hadn't gotten to him too much yet but the heroine was kinda annoying. It wouldn't have been so bad if her friends weren't off the charts, eye gougingly, awful. Keiko (yes, hers is the only name I remember because I wanted to reach through the pages and stab her) was atrocious and completely unbelievable. Whoever sat through that woman's entire story deserves a damn medal. I get that the author was trying to make her awkward and sciency but it was just ridiculously out there. I would have even been able to deal with that if there weren't just these HUGE blocks of dialogue for her. Eventually, I just skipped over those in entirety and guess what, they weren't needed. I still knew what was going on. Then again, maybe because the prologue told me everything already. Who knows.

Bottom line, this was so bad that I'm annoyed it's even sitting on my kindle and is enough to make me not pick up another Meghan Quinn book for years to come.

I've enjoyed Meghan Quinn's teacher's books and I was looking forward to Cora and Pike's story. I loved the beginning. It's a troupe I love and I was having a blast listening to it. Unfortunately, it went downhill for me. Especially after the half way mark. Cora was unlikable for me throughout so much of the book. I felt bad for Pike and thought he deserved better. Anyways, Meghan Quinn is an author I adore and I'm sad this was more of a miss for me, but you can't win em' all.

I had to google the dick piercing 😬 I wish I hadn’t

I didn’t think I’d like this book when I started it. The prologue threw me off as it wasn’t really a prologue but more of a spoiler for the first several chapters. Also, the premise of the book wasn’t quite believable; you don’t need to stay married because one partner doesn’t consent to annulment, you don’t need both partners’ consent to legally dissolve a marriage, so the idea of her trying to prank him to make him leave didn’t work. Even though MQ wanted us to believe it was because he threatened to tell her brother and she didn’t want him disappointed in her that wasn’t believable either. You don’t make your life a living hell staying married to a stranger and then constantly prank him because your brother might be annoyed at you. Because of this rocky start I put this book aside for awhile. When I finally got back into it is was a decent read. Not the best Meghan Quinn book but not her worst. I think if more work had been put in to the premise and the beginning this could have been better. Perhaps have him tell her about the foundation and they truly do work together to fool his father. I know Meghan Quinn loves to break her couples up in her books but maybe she could try something different for the integrity of the story. Staying so true to her formula has made her more recent books lacking in story and entirely too predictable. Anyway I rate this somewhere in the 3.4 star area as I liked both characters and the last half of the story. Side note: Keiko was the worst written and least believable, unfunny, annoying character I’ve ever read. She needs to be sent off to the planet where they foisted Jarjar Binks.

Love blooms unexpectedly in Meghan Quinn’s delightful romp Put Me In Detention. If you liked How To Lose a Guy in Ten Days you’re going to LOVE this.

While happily celebrating her divorce-cation with her friends in Las Vegas, Cora ends up married to Pike Greyson. The new history teacher at her brother’s school. The British bad boy she has the hots for but not in a ‘til death do us part kind of way. Cora desperately wants to get an annulment while Pike wants to remain married.

Things quickly spin out of control almost immediately. Cora and Pike clash at every turn, he’s attentive and caring, he’s patient and listens to Cora because he genuinely wants their marriage to work. While Cora plots silly and childish pranks to make him want to leave.

Even though he did have an ulterior motive, I loved Pike. Not just because of his delicious British accent, attractive tattoos, enticing piercings or his passion for tea. He was protective of Cora and helped build her up. He also established a delightful relationship with Keiko, becoming her best friend and even her Man of Honor. I must say I really enjoyed Keiko and Kelvin’s subplot.

This is an enemies-to-lovers, marriage of convenience romance you can’t help but binge. It was sweet and crackling with chemistry. It’s always a delight to read Meghan’s books which always leave me with a feel-good high.

Put Me In Detention is a standalone rom-com by Meghan Quinn. It’s told from both points of view with a happy ending. Tropes: marriage of convenience | enemies to lovers

My JOY has returned! GAAAaaaH!!

Equal parts sexy, sweet and swoony, this story brought the joy of this world back into my heart and soul!

This tight group of friends is JOY
This world Meghan created is JOY
Cora and Pike are JOY
Their story is JOY

My JOY for this world started in September of 2020 when I read Gunner’s novella and continued from there. Yes, I lost a bit of joy in Romeo’s story but in the big picture of this world, as a whole, it is joy tenfold!

Coraline Turner has not had it easy in the life department but with the help of her brother and her newfound friendships, she is coming out on the other side of her past with hope and enthusiasm for the future. Pike Grayson is also doing his very best to come out of his past and forge a new future but there are forces working against him who will stop at nothing to halt that progress.

Pike was a fairly new character for me in this world, but not Cora. Cora has been with me since the beginning of this journey, and I’ve always had a soft spot for her. I’ve been looking forward to her story for a while and I wanted her to have fireworks and triumph in her journey and Meghan Quinn delivered with a hardy dose of humor and #feels on all counts. This is easily by second best (her brother’s story still ranks number 1 for me :) ) story by Meghan!

I couldn’t have even imagined a better journey for Cora! Well done Meghan!

I enjoyed the humor and the drama of this all!

Summary:
During Cora’s divorce-cation in Las Vegas, the newly single woman temps herself to have a wild night with her brother’s nemesis coworker, Pike after seeing him at the same restaurant. After many drinks and a whole lot of fun with the British naughty boy leads to a drive to a wedding chapel drive thru and once again Cora ends up being married. However, Pike refuses to be annulled!
Thoughts:
I’m such sucker for any marriage type of story and this was one exceptional!!! However, I do want to call out that Cora is sort of childish- the girl went through a rough childhood and a toxic marriage. The amount of love Pike has for Cora was beautifully done *chefs kiss* All the families (minus Pike’s dad) and friends were hilarious and adorable!

I don't really know how I feel. I'm looking back at the notes I took while I was reading this one and thinking back on my overall feelings throughout and, largely, they're not great? The more I think about it, the more I overwhelmingly feel frustrated. First though, let's talk about the good.

The best thing about this book? Keiko and Pike. Absolutely these two were the cutest besties and I LOVED the two of them together and how their friendship progressed. While Keeks did sometimes feel like a caricature of a neurodivers character (basically like MQ watched a few eps of the Big Bang Theory and then said "yeah I got this") she was one of the best parts of this entire story. And her and Pike? *chef's kiss*

I also truly loved Pike. He was a TREAT of a hero, honestly, and I'm really freaking glad that, while there were some bits about him and his British-ness that were definitely um .. wrong? (they call nachos "nachos," Meghan) he was very well written. He was charming, he was honest, he was funny, he made me shiver, and he was a true delight. I loved him. I loved loved loved him and I want to keep him forever. He also deserved better than Cora but oops! I didn't say that (eek).

Why the lower rating, though? A couple things (at least the non-spoilery ones):
1) The length. We could have chopped this thing by about 200 pages and a few unnecessary plot points.
2) The entire first section of the plot. I didn't love the pranks, especially when they were a one-sided attempt, and honestly didn't quite know what was running through this one particular person's mind when they could have, I don't know, been a damn adult and used their words instead of being childish. It also made the first part of this book feel like a never-ending story.
3) Cora, just in general when we were in her head. I don't know what's been going on lately, but for some reason, I've loved most of MQ's heroines more when they were side characters or being shown from someone else's POV, not when they're actually the heroine or we're in their brain. They're not well written and, if anything, they're pretty unsympathetic characters and so it makes it very hard to empathize with them and what they're going through.
4) The cover. I said what I said.

Long story short - this one was okay. There was good and there was bad, and I liked it, but Meghan Quinn has definitely written better books and this just, was not it. I'm sure this is going to be well loved by a lot of people, but it just didn't work for me and overall it was a bummer.

A fun trilogy by Meghan Quinn.

The books (if you wanna read in order):
1. See Me After Class (Arlo & Greer)
2. Earn Your Extra Credit (Stello & Romeo/Romero)
3. Put Me in Detention (Cora & Pike)
(Keiko & Kelvin's story is in the background of the 3 books and concludes in Put Me in Detention)

Summary of all the books
The books primarily follow 4 ladies in a friend group. They from a book club, appropriately named the Ladies in Heat book club.

Book 1 follows Arlo, the Head of the English department of a high school, and Greer, the new English teacher in town and will be working with Arlo. Office/boss-employee romance ensues and it's great.

Book 2 is about Stella, the Spanish teacher at the same school and Romeo, ex-hockey star turned PE/Gym teacher after an injury (he was previously from Brentwood university, so this series is actually a spin off from the Brentwood books). Friends-to-lovers, with Romeo being infatuated with Stella for a long time. Turns into kinda enemies-to-lovers because he hates that she never realises his crush. All the friends in the group go on vacation for Arlo & Greer's wedding in Hawaii, and Stella and Romeo have to fake-date for reasons. Chaos ensues.

Book 3 is about Cora, Arlo's sister who is the only non-teacher character in the series. A recent divorcée who brings Greer, Stella and Keiko to Vegas for a ladies' night. There, she bumps into Pike, who turns out to be the new History teacher at the same high school. Pike is a British man trying to escape his father's clutches in England and moves to America. Pike and Cora get super drunk and accidentally get married. Cora wants an annulment but Pike wants to give the marriage a chance.
~ ~ ~

Books 2 and 3 were just alright, they were definitely 100 pages too long and there's so much miscommunication going on. Arlo and Greer were my favorites and I loved how even though Arlo's a teacher, he and Cora are hella rich from their grandparents' inheritance lol. I highly recommend See Me After Class!!

Made me laugh and cry

Story: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Trope: accidental marriage
Angst: 😱😱😱😱😱
Smexy: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Triggers: past suicide attempt

I have to admit I'm really conflicted about this one. I struggled with the characters. Cora's behavior in the first third of the book was so over the top, it made it really difficult to get into the story. And the impending drama with Pike was an easy "avoidable if I just had a conversation" situation that we all see coming. Additionally, this book just felt way too long and made it drag for me. On the flip side, I felt like there were some wonderful things. The story was well written and had some absolutely beautiful moments. It definitely made me laugh, had me shedding a heartfelt tear, and the ending gave me all the feels. So yeah, conflicted 🤷🏻‍♀️. Definitely not my favorite Meghan Quinn, but I'm still a big fan!

I didn't know this was attached to three other books, so I felt lost with the previous books characters.
Also, Keiko is so ridiculously overdone with her robot personality, it felt like a bad joke.

Pike and Cora are a match made in rom-com heaven! God did I love this story!

A drunken Vegas wedding that Cora wants annulled, yet Pike is desperate to hang on to...there's sure to be conflict, right? The way Cora tries to get stubborn Pike out of her life had me in stitches. So much banter between the two had me cracking up. And the plotting going on between Cora and her friends Stella and Greer on how to get Pike to give up on the marriage (some of it so diabolical) had me snickering. But the best part of the book was seeing Cora and Pike fall in love. *sigh* But inevitable in all MQ books you know that something terrible is going to happen that tears the couple apart (in this case, A secret that Pike keeps hidden for way too long ends up biting him in the butt...why didn't you TELL HER, Pike?) And that started me crying. But what happened after that (that I didn't see coming)...'where's that Kleenex?' Oh, to be tortured by the brilliant Meghan Quinn!

So no more plot details. Just read this book and experience all the feels. No one does funny banter and super hot sex scenes better than MQ. I'm telling you some of the scenes...wowza!

I've also come to appreciate Keiko, friend of Cora and now 'best friend' to Pike. I know in previous stories she drove me a little crazy, but in this story, yes she was crazy, but also wise. I got a kick out of her. But the stars of this surprisingly long book (I think over 400 pages which is awesome) are the fantastic writing that lets you know so much about both main characters and their motivations, the laugh out loud moments, the sexual tension, and the absolute love that develops between Pike and Cora. I got all the feels from this one, crying right along with Cora while silently begging her to forgive Pike. And any book that has me using handfuls of Kleenex is a 5 star read for me.

5+ stars

P.S.: I sure hope Pike's brother Killian gets his story soon...

“You have given yourself to me, which means I get all of you, the past, your thoughts, your baggage. I want all of it. No holding back.”

This book was funny, sexy and such amazing rom-com from Meghan Quinn.
I always love the way Meghan writes and her characters and stories, this books wasn't the exception.
Cora was an amazing character to read, and I love her friendship with Stella, Greer (I have to read their books) and Keiko (please, she is so nerd, was so funny, i love her). I love a book with a good friendship in it. Pike was a surprise cause at the beginning I thought he was grumpy and a lonely guy, but the way he was with Cora, im in love.
The trope “marriage of convenience” was amazing and funny to read specially when Cora wanted to get the divorce and Pike wanted to stay married. These two😩🥺.

This book is a MUST BE READ (like all the books from Meghan🤝) so I hope you enjoy it and love the characters.
Can't wait for the next Megan's book!

Thank you for the arc!

Cora and Pike’s story has been my favorite out of this group! A drunken Vegas wedding , that turns into a secret relationship into something more. But there are plenty of ups and downs and laughs along the way.

I loved Pike. He is the tattooed British bad boy history teacher. However, there is a lot more to him and I loved getting to know him throughout this story. Side note, I also loved his unlikely friendship with Keiko! I wasn’t expecting that, but I was all for it. I also really loved Cora. She is newly divorced, she has been hurt in the past when it comes to relationships and really hasn’t had the best experiences growing up, which also leads to her rather overprotective big brother, Arlo.
Yet, she is full of life and absolutely hilarious. She just wants her chance at freedom and happiness.

There has been chemistry between Pike and Cora since they met. So it only makes sense when the both end up in Vegas that things end up where they did, plus with some fireball involved that definitely will help. The tea…..I was DYING (seriously, if you have read it you know). There is steam, plenty of laughs and plenty of swooning where Pike is concerned.

If you’re looking for a secret relationship, marriage of convenience, rom com this is one to check out.

5 star review of Put Me In Detention by Meghan Quinn

There was so much witty banter, love and friendship reading Put Me In Detention that I was either laughing, smiling or swooning throughout.

Celebrating her divorce in Las Vegas, Cora Turner sees Pike Grayson, a fellow teacher at the high school and one she has fantasized about, across a crowded room and decides to throw caution to the wind. After all, what could possibly happen? What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, or does it?

After to much drinking, Cora ends up married to Pike but having just escaped a horrible marriage the last thing she wants or needs is to be married. The chemistry between Cor and Pike was impossible to ignore and I loved the dynamics of their relationship as they finally opened up and talked honestly to one another about their feelings as their relationship progressed.

Imagine her shock when she returns home and finds that Pike has moved in and wants to continue their marriage, requesting she give him three months too prove that they belong together. Cora is equally determined to prove that they will not work. WH will win this fight? Cora Pike?

I really loved Pike, Cora was a little harder to relate to but they were so good together that you couldn't help but cheer for them to get their happily ever after. Put Me In Detention is another well written, funny and entertaining book from Meghan Quinn .

Put Me in Detention by Meghan Quinn was laugh-out-loud fun, steamy, and super swoony! Meghan once again does what she does best bringing all her signature wit and charm to the characters of Forest Heights that we all know and love. I was so excited to listen to Cora and Pike's story! Once again Meghan didn't let me down, and I loved every single minute of their fake to forever romance.

Vanessa Edwin and John Hartley narrate this audiobook. This was a new narrator pairing for me, and I loved their chemistry together. Vanessa Edwin's voice was simply stunning as Cora! I loved how well she conveyed all of Cora's past pains, her hesitancy to trust, her flirty wild side, and her passionate loving personality. Plus, Vanessa's performance of all the side characters especially Keiko's quirkiness, was spot on and hilarious! John Hartley is a fairly new to me narrator, and his performance of Pike was absolutely dreamy! He did a fantastic job portraying Pike's arrogant, charming, and persistent personality perfectly. I loved how much chemistry Pike and Cora had, even when Cora was determined to fight it.

Meghan Quinn has written another hilarious story with all the steam and the feels! If you love a fake to forever romance with a hunky British motorcycle riding history teacher, a sassy fierce heroine who learns to love and trust again, a divorce-cation in Vegas that turns into so much more, an overprotective brother, loyal dedicated best friends, all the humorous pranks, holy hot steamy times, and the best HEA that will leave your heart feeling super happy, then I highly recommend Put Me in Detention!

i didn’t know if i should dnf or just finish this book and give 2 stars. god. cora was so ANNOYING. i know she is a broken woman. we know that. but god. she behaves like she is four. i hated that. and to end the story… she didn’t even give the chance to pike explain when things went wrong. i couldn’t keep reading this. and i love the characters. “see me after class” is one of my favorites books! and the pranks were funny there, but here… it just felt like it didn’t make sense.
pike… you deserve better. like me. put me in detention and meet me after class! (see what i did?)

Put Me in Detention is classic Meghan Quinn hilarity and sincerity- that laugh-out-loud, crazy-antic and banter-filled fun paired with a sexy and swoony romance that makes her books such a delightful escape. We’ve got the trademark wit and charm we’ve come to expect from any Meghan Quinn story in this fun visit to Forest Heights, and I quite enjoyed the lovable, at times ridiculous, chemistry between Cora and Pike.

In a fun flip of the trope, Meghan starts our story with a Vegas trip that’s all about celebrating a divorce. Cora is now a single lady, and while in the midst of her Vegas revelry she crosses paths with Pike, a fellow teacher she’s always been attracted to. Of course, Vegas ends up being Vegas, and a divorce trip soon turns into another marriage-to her fantasy man. Cora’s got plenty of marital baggage and isn’t interested in another, bur surprisingly sexy Pike is- and he’s determined to win her over on the idea. Their flirty chemistry soon makes it complicated, feelings emerge, and baggage is exposed- all with some delicious steam and trademark Meghan Quinn antics to keep us and this couple on their toes.

I loved how Cora is the hesitant one- how our hero is the one wanting to solidify the marriage. Cora has a lot of past pain and some understandable trust issues- and given that she has scars from the marriage that already failed, I loved watching her grapple with this unexpected twist. But I loved that she’s not mopey either- she’s fun and flirty. And PIke is as dreamy as always-british motorcycle riding teacher? UHM YES. He’s that alpha, persistent, a bit arrogant but somehow effortless charming Meghan Quinn character who finds his inner- woo and brings all the swoony feelings. I loved most when this story tapped into their emotional connection- when they started to open up. If only all the truths came out…

I did love our cast of secondary characters and lots of fun, but there were times I felt the story moved a bit slowly for me- and, dare I say, the pranks perhaps a little much. But the relationship itself has great chemistry and deepens throughout, even though I will say I was disappointed in Pike’s hypocrisy at first. But the HEA Is worth it all, and as usual, Meghan gives us a fun and sweet, heart warming experience.

As all books by Meghan Quinn do, this one had me laughing after barely starting. It had me not wanting to put it down, even thinking of how I might be able to get away continuing to read even after my lunch break was over at work. But alas, even though it was a Friday at work and I am a librarian, I did not give into my temptation to read. However I then spent my Friday night reading!

Things I loved about this hilarious fake-marriage story from Meghan Quinn include the hilarious phone call that they made to Pike’s brother while they were drunk in Vegas. Some of the most awkward conversations, like: “You know what they say, your clit, your name.” The texting conversations between the girls, with statements like: “Keep all the dicks in your mouth.” Yeah, there’s a total context missing, but even in the context of that conversation it was hilarious. And all the build up of the sexual tension between Pike and Cora was sooooooo hot! When they finally started giving in, man, I was fanning myself so much!

The part that I was reading on my lunch break was like halfway through and boy did it have me ready to cry! It was only about halfway through the book, so I knew there would be good times coming to make up for it, but I had to wait, and it was such an emotional part! But once I got past that, they got one of the speed bumps in their fake relationship overcome. And I was so happy for that and it made up for the angst I suffered through while I was waiting half a work day to finish it.

But the few issues with the book that I had include Pike not telling her when he had the chance why he wanted to stay married at first. I’m sure she would have understood and they could still have given it all a chance with her knowing. And the only other thing that made me mark it down to 4.5 instead of a full 5 stars on my blog was that it seemed a little long at certain times. But don’t take any of these issues I had as things that take away from the wonderful story this is. Because I am still thinking about it and loving it even after having finished it and moved on to my next read. Oh, one other thing that bothered me a little, do British people call their fathers “Pa”? I don’t feel like I’ve ever heard that in anything that I’ve seen or read about that culture. It really made me feel more like I was in a country-ish type of story, or Little House on the Prairie, when I read that.

4.5🌟

I really couldn’t start this review without commenting on the cover, because this one I can’t stop looking at! Pike Greyson is one good looking man! School never look so tempting.

It’s not a spoiler to tell you that this story is about a drunken night in Vegas where Cora and Pike end up married. Neither of them were expecting it and one wants it annulled. The other wants to give their marriage a shot, and asks for three months to see what happens. Three months can be a long time when your wife is doing her best to make you pack your bags and leave. Cora, sometimes with help from her besties, is doing her utmost to make Pike crack. He of course is taking everything in his stride and for the majority of the time is amused. But this tale is deeper than their funny antics which had me smirking so much. There is a huge lesson learnt on being able to trust and to tell the whole truth. I am not a fan of lying at all, not even when it’s an omission lie, so I was definitely on Cora’s side about that. Pike had his reasons, and strong ones to boot, and I adored his dedication to the foundation. What I loved most about him though was his devotion to Cora, and how he tried to show her daily how good their relationship could be.

His description of Cora was very accurate. When she’s relaxed and in her element, she is vivacious, feisty and her troubled past doesn’t take away from her overall demeanor. He loves her craziness as much as her caring side. For him, Coraline was the whole package. She just needs to trust in what they have built already and that it’s real. I feel Pike is going to be a favorite book boyfriend for a lot of readers. He is intelligent, commanding and enjoys dirty talking along with a healthy and steamy love life. Although he doesn’t have a relationship with his father, he is totally loyal to his siblings, which resonates with Cora.

This is a complete standalone novel, and even though it’s not marketed as such, there are other books previous to this one. They are all school teachers finding their HEA. They all make appearances in this book, as well as what I hope is setting up the next one - Pike’s brother Killian falling for his sister’s best friend Madeline. I’m very intrigued about that one. The epilogue was sweet and I feel appropriate for this couple.

5 SMOOCHES!

Put Me In Detention was a fun blend of drunk-in-Vegas, teacher romance with a splash of surprise wedding, and it came together fabulously in one of Meghan Quinn’s heartfelt and hilarious romantic comedies. Pike, a motorcycle-riding British teacher, works with Cora’s brother, Arlo. Cora is in Vegas commemorating her divorce with a girls trip. She’s looking to get her groove back on with some harmless, one-night-only fun when she runs into Pike, her not-so-secret crush. Together they paint Vegas red, and in a complete surprise to them both, wake up the next morning married.

Cora and Pike had natural chemistry, but having just come out of a long, drawn-out and nasty divorce, Cora is not at all pleased that she somehow wound up married again, even if it’s to the seriously hot guy she’s been crushing on. I enjoyed the utter ridiculousness of the situation Cora had gotten herself into, and her attempts to drive Pike off were hilarious. Pike had his own reasons for wanting to give this marriage a chance, and as she was trying to push him away, he was patiently trying to pull her closer. The only problem was that as Pike was developing real feelings that he genuinely wanted to explore with Cora, he was also concealing a secret that could upend everything. On the surface, Put Me In Detention was a funny romcom, but as is always the way with Meghan’s storytelling, she masterfully hides the emotion waiting for the exact right moment to spring it on her readers. Quinn doesn’t hold back when doling out those emotions, and beneath all the layers of humor and heat, she’s buried some serious feels. The reason I find her work so dang addictive is precisely because of the way she blends her humor and heat with heart-rending emotion.

Put Me In Detention was a slow-burning love story brimming with heart-tugging emotion. Readers get a full dose of the beloved side characters from the other books in this interconnected series of standalones, especially the curious Keiko. Full of charm, comedy, passion and heart, Quinn crafted another unputdownable story. I swooned, blushed and laughed my way through this book loving every single second of it. Five smooches from me for Put Me In Detention by Meghan Quinn!

“Coraline Turner. An emerald-green dress. Tequila shots. Poker. Fireball. Pretzels on a Ferris wheel. Bitching on a tour bus. A mouthy gondola ride. And . . . “Oh fuck,” I whisper.”

This book might be my favorite in the series now. Pike and Cora are already insanely attracted to each other, but one wild night in Vegas changes everything. What happens in Vegas doesn’t always stay in Vegas.

“Mr. Pin Me Down Pike is all kinds of deliciousness. Holy shit.”

This book is hot, hot, hot! Get ready for piercings below the belt, toys in the bedroom and lots of steamy scenes!

Pike’s reasons for staying married to Cora aren’t pure at first but once he starts getting to know her, he realizes that maybe their mistake might actually the best thing to happen to him.

Cora is not happy with Pike cramping her style in her efficiency apartment. She hatches a plan to get rid of him by cooking terrible food, telling half truths and generally making his life difficult. Pike takes it all in stride and they find their chemistry from Vegas still translates into real, everyday life. Maybe Pike is exactly what Cora needs.

Keiko ended up being one of my favorite characters who in the end, actually talked sense into Cora. Keiko’s unlikely friendship with Pike is also incredibly sweet and heartwarming!

The last 20 percent of this book is emotional and brought tears to my eyes. I was not prepared but the ending was perfection!

“You’re the only one who can mend my heart, Pike.” She presses her forehead to mine and whispers, “Please, help me mend it.” “Baby.” I reach up with my good hand and cup her cheek. “Open up and let me mend it, because I will. I’ll spend every minute until my dying breath making sure I mend this beautiful, loving heart.” “Promise?” she asks. “Promise,” I answer. I wipe at her tears just before she closes the last few inches between us and presses her mouth to mine.”

***5 Stars***

OMG. These two….I knew they’d give a run for my money. I KNEW…but for the love of…my eyes hurt from all the rolling they did because of Pike and Cora. The Kindle came really close to being thrown in the freezer…And then there are all the things I CANNOT even get into to fully explain the WHY to…well…everything…

But….

Overall, I honestly loved Pike and Cora. Both are good people with huge hearts, witty and crazily enough, both have similar insecurities/vulnerabilities ~ just from different situations. Their chemistry was intense, which only added to the frustration that they couldn’t get their shit together. As far as the issues they face…I honestly went into this thinking that I’d be team Pike, but I was proven wrong. I ended up being Team Cora. This isn’t to say that she was always in the right ~ because she wasn’t ~ but let’s just say that IMHO had a couple things been done earlier, like at the start, things would have still been crazy, but maybe I wouldn’t have had such a headache? Maybe…but, in the end, I’m happy with how it all turned out.

As I said, this one drove me batshitcrazy but, it was fun. And as for the rest of the crazy crew…I loved hanging out with Greer, Arlo, Stella and Romeo, but Keiko stole the show…again…and actually bumped my rating up a star. She drove me nuts with how clinically proper she can be, but I love how blunt she is and how golden her heart is.
