What are you doing this Friday, May 29 at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT? If you’re willing and able — and have a subscription to Amazon Prime Video — why not join the #RocketmanWatchParty and watch the 2019 biopic with Sir Elton John himself?

That’s what the legendary musician/cultural icon has planned to begin the weekend. At promptly 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT, as mentioned above, all you do is hit ‘play’ on the film, which is streaming on Prime Video at this link, and you’re in:

This Friday, May 29th, join in the party by loading up Rocketman and hitting play at exactly 7pm ET (4pm PT). We’ll be running the conversation on Twitter using the hashtag #RocketmanWatchParty, with Elton sharing his own thoughts and insights throughout the film. So make sure to follow Elton and add the hashtag to your tweets so we can all see what you’re saying. If you’re wearing your Rocketman merchandise, let us see!

This virtual watch party idea has caught on lately as a great way to pass some time during COVID-19 pandemic quarantine — a few weeks back, Motley Crue hosted one of its own geared around the band’s 2019 Netflix biopic The Dirt.

Rocketman was released to theaters on May 31, 2019 — so this #RocketmanWatchParty is basically a one-year anniversary party for the biopic, which starred Taron Egerton as Sir Elton and was a real treat.

The film, which came out a year after the Freddie Mercury/Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody, eventually earned an Oscar for Best Original Song for “I’m Gonna Love Me Again,” in addition to near-universal critical acclaim.

Said Rock Cellar’s Ed Rampell about the film in his review (click here to read):

Rocketman enthusiastically gets this critic’s seal of approval. It’s a must-see for Elton John fans and with its ingenious fantasy sequences and riveting story, a great ride for general audiences. The music alone makes this biopic about one of the greatest rockers of all time worth seeing (and hearing).
