Shadowlight Ultralight Backpack

The ShadowLight™ Ultralight backpack brings a new meaning to "ultralight backpacking". No longer do you have to sacrifice everything to get below a 2 lb pack weight!

Shadowlight- named for its ultralight weight and how well it rides on your back. Due to its geometry and weight, it feels like an extension of your body.

  • Ultralight and Ultra Comfortable: Coming in at under 2 lbs (including a durable 24 in. frame & wide hip belt,) it comfortably carries up to 35+ lbs. The shoulder straps, hip belt, & removable back panel were all crafted to fit anatomically, making the Shadowlight Backpack feel more like an extension of your body.
  • Ultralight With Extra Organization and Access: The Shadowlight Backpack is equipped with side pockets, large hip belt pockets, stretch-mesh pockets, & a full length main panel entry zipper to keep you organized on the trail while keeping your pack weight under 2 lbs. The adjustable roll-top gives you additional access & customizable space for packing.
  • High Strength Ultralight Fabric: We used our own special Spectra / Robic Ripstop fabric, which gives you the benefits of both a high tenacity nylon & UHMWPE fibers! Enjoy the strength and durability of a much heavier fabric, but now in an ultralight package.

Embrace a better kind of ultralight exploration that doesn't sacrifice comfort & organization with the Shadowlight Backpack.

Great back pack.

This pack lives up to its reputation. Great size at 60L, comfortable to carry and it is so light. With OV quality included.

Great pick for my big three

Unbelievable price for fantastic gear.
We have two of these BPs now- 10/10

if you're looking at OV products you probably already know this:
Your backpack, tent, sleeping system are the big three that you be spending the most money on. As far as options go, I'm incredibly happy that wr went with this cottage option.

Shadowlight 60L fits well, its versatile, and durable as hell. I took my pack out to Philmont Scout Ranch (North side). My crew put over 80 miles on trail that trip. We're past 100s of miles with this BP now.

I thought I'd use the vertical zipper a lot more. But found this wasn't something I really needed because my packing order was done right. -still a nice feature.

My favorite thing about the Shadowlight series is the material used for the mesh pickets. That material is remarkably stretchy and strong. Everything I could need easy access to can be neatly crammed and adjusted within those pockets without worrying about losing them.

The Backpack foam pad on the back keeps my back ventilated better than other packs. I think Osprey has some options that are better ventilated, but, not a huge difference and will run you over $400-$500.

Using that back pad as a sit pad wasn't bad; I mean it wasn't a helinox, but, it wasn't bad. The flexibility is really appreciated when you're looking to shed those ounces.

The load lift straps work well and are easily adjusted.

The waist belt l, likewise, works well. Considering the width and weight of the belt material I was surprised that the belt holds its place after tightening actually.

Make sure you look at the sizing chart; and, consider how big you might be when you hit the long trail. I lost a lot of weight and I ran out of belt to tighten. Had to order a smaller waist size to replace my big boy belt.

Big pockets on the belt too! Though the zippers on mine seem to get bound with one handed operation. Having my hip bag and waist belt pockets is ideal for me. I can keep all my snacks, essentials, and trash up front and operate without slowing down for a few hours without slowing down to fumble with silliness.

One design addition I'd love to see on this pack would be set of small eyelets sewn into the corners of the pack silhouette top and bottom for a line of shot chord to tie into.

I know Titus doesn't like to tie stuff onto packs.. but, the flexibility of a small bit of stretchy line would be nice for quickly securing wet clothes/ tent fly into, hold my six moons BP umbrella, stage my water filtering system, hold my rolled foam pad, exc... and to have the option of where the lines need to run for my needs day-to-day would be... *chef's kiss*

The OV quilts, sleep pads, and UL wool hooded long-sleeve shirt are all fantastic as well BTW.

Best pack I have ever owned

I have 5 other packs that I have collected over the years. The ULA was my most comfortable pack, but the shadow light now takes that #1 spot. I believe the load lifter strap design is what makes this such a great pack. I am usually making adjustments to my shoulder straps all day while backpacking due to discomfort in the shoulders. I adjusted the shoulder and lifter straps once on this pack and not once did I feel discomfort with a fully loaded pack on a long trip. I love that I can reach my water in the lower side pockets without doing yoga moves. This pack is well thought out. Not a fan of the zipper in the front, but the split netted pocket does work well to keep me more organized. I would highly recommend this pack to anyone looking for a very functional lightweight backpack.
