Taos was tired.

Tired of everything that came with living. Not to the point where he was suicidal or anything, but tired enough that he just didn’t give a crap anymore.

He’d seen all the ugliness this world had to offer due to his job as a police officer for way too many damn years of his less than stellar life. After finding a way to sustain his spending habits that didn’t include having criminals point guns at his face, he quits without a backward glance.

Only, he just can’t step away from old habits.

Old habits that have to do with a beautiful young woman that makes his heart feel like it isn’t nearly as broken as it is.

Fran has experienced more than her fair share of crap. After an attack that nearly took her life, she stays hidden in her house, fearful that stepping out of her comfort zone will be the final nail in her coffin.

Then her sister forces her to face her fears, and she joins Madd CrossFit.

There, she meets the man that saved her life a year ago, and realizes rather quickly that he doesn’t even realize who he is to her.

He’s everything she ever thought a man should be and wants nothing to do with her.

Maybe she’ll have to give him a reason to look her way.

And damned if she doesn’t find a way to do it.

She didn’t plan on nearly getting killed for that to happen, though.

At least not again.

No Rep was written in such a refreshing way that I was honestly surprised by the tone this story took. As a long time LLV fan, I. Was. Shook!

While there were plenty of familiar things, such as the light and fun vibe typically found in an LLV novel, it was a touch more serious. And it had to be. Fran survived a serial killer and Taos hunted them. Makes sense. On top of that, there was no rush for the intimacy that was growing between the main characters. It wasn't a slow build, but it did grow organically.

Am I a fool for hoping that one day the author ages up baby Vlad to give him his own story? Man, that baby was sooooo cute!

I have digressed...

Fran almost fell victim to a serial killer. Taos was the cop who rescued her. She disappeared from life due to fear until her sister tried to inject some hope inside of her. That's where Taos' crossfit gym came in. Fran came out of her shell and she blossomed. Was it being around other people? Testing and building her strength? Or was it all due to Taos?

I'm going with a huge helping of Taos!

I enjoyed the suspenseful elements of this story. I couldn't figure out who the new serial killer was and it was exciting to see how everything would unfold. I loved what eventually grew between Fran and Taos and the way their happily ever after developed. I also appreciated meeting all of the side characters and I'm looking forward to reading their own stories. Jerk It, the story of Murphy and Mavis, is next!

Say what? 6$ for plus tax for what I’m pretty sure is something similar that she wrote before? Let’s see.. a virginal pathetic heroine with a loose dick hero.?
Feel free to correct me or not. I’ll wait! 😁

God.. I don’t miss reading at all! 😏

What's better than a new book from Lani Lynn Vale? A new series, obviously. Although to be honest I still have so many of her original series that I need to read, but a new, new series is just icing.

So as mentioned above I still have a large library of books that need reading, so all of these characters are new to me. I don't know if they are new in general, or part of her other series and I don't really care cause I loved them. And all of these books can be read as standalones anyway.

Naturally the secondary characters were as awesome as the main characters. And the main characters were all that I've come to expect from a Lani Lynn Vale book. Taos was sweet and protective and a massive ball of sexy. And Fran was completely adorable.

The book was exactly what I expected and I love that it was the perfect weekend read. I just dove in and was washed away in a great story that kept my attention completely. And I'm really looking forward to getting Mavis's book next, cause that chicks a firecracker.

I wasn't feeling the couple.. they had great moments but that spark didn't sizzle for me.

I was confused why they both didn't up right and tell one another hey I saved your life/you saved me years ago? It wasn't a big deal honestly.  And I love Taos he was such a good ex cop/gym guy and boyfriend.. at one point I thought he was a jerk (that 7% of the story about h weight) but he wasnt.. so he grew on me! Fran idk I thought she was way to coming on and clingy.. I wish she toned it down that thrist.

You get more friendship at first then it turns into more.. we also have some ow drama the ex wife.. who is catty and annoying..idk I wish we had more romance instead of the gym workout stuff... I wish he talked more about his book writing.. or more date stuff outside the gym..

Would love to read the sisters book but idk how I feel about her and Murphy... still haven't been sold.. plus I figure her baby daddy drama shall happen.

No om drama/Ow drama, no cheating, drama, slight secondary character, sexy times, no virgins

Can we take a moment to appreciate this cover, y’all? 🔥 This new series is off to a really good start. I don’t remember reading any series tied together by CrossFit so this was a refreshing tie in.

Taos and Fran had an instant, almost instinctual, connection. Their past brought them together and their present was simply meant to be. As always, LLV has a formula that just works. We get the suspense with a dose of humor and a generous helping of steam.

The secondary characters definitely piqued my interest. I am more than ready for book two!

The storyline is all over the place, the chemistry between the main characters is non-existent, the h is a nurse (a-FUCKING-gain), the shit/fart "jokes" ever-present. People are coming and going for no reason at all. There is no character development. And the procedures to catch a serial killer? Seriously, a small town Chief of Police, a detective, an ex-detecive turned horror author/crossfit instructor conducting the investigation for the murdet of 17 women? 17?

And that thing that the h has had sex once in her life and bad sex for that matter and after she meets the H she turns into a sex kitten has gotten old. And she's a nurse. I can't even.

And stop demonizing the exes. Bitches and sluts and cheaters. You are supposed to be a woman. You can't shame the OW every time. Be a little creative. If you need to create drama, think of something else. It's not funny anymore!!!

This was an easy,quick read. I just felt I wanted more substance to it. LLV skims the surface but never really goes quite deep enough for me. I’d like for a more padded out story and characters. I am looking forward to the next couple of books in the series though.

Disclaimer-Lani Lynn Vale consistently incorporates the placement of mobiles in underwear, perhaps she remains unaware of the medical warnings of electronic devices next to skin being a risk for breast cancer.
“I shoved the phone down into the front of my underwear—seriously, I wasn’t wearing a bra so where was I supposed to put it?—then headed to my closet.”

Taos is a silent partner at Madd CrossFit, he is also an author of horror fiction. Ten years ago, he’d never considered that he might go into business with his best friend, Madden. Rather, Madden had forced him out of the shadows and coerced him into instructing a bootcamp class at their gym. Why he’d agreed to teach this bootcamp, remains a mystery.

Her sister Mavis treated Fran like spun glass, an incredible force of nature.
Ever since her attack, she became overprotective. At first, it was because she was worried that Fran might die due to her injuries. Then she was worried that Fran might be suicidal. After surviving she didn’t have a death wish, but it was hard to remain engaged when one is depressed.
“Seriously, come on,” she urged. “Let’s get this started. Once you get your mind off of him and on dying instead, you’ll be able to do fine.”

This is the first time that the real Francine Pope has emerged in a really long time. Fran could’ve easily stayed holed up and lived in fear the rest of her life. Very comfortably. The Pope was synonymous with money. The Popes had founded the f……’ town. The matriarch Pope, however, was a b*tch. He hadn’t met her but one time, but that one interaction made him realise that she equated him as a lowlife without an office job that made him a lot of money. Two, he didn’t have a lineage of aristocracy. They were rich and powerful.

Lesson-when a loved one at ninety-four asks to spend time with you, do it. Life can end without warning.

“I’m dying, kid. I’m ninety-four years old. I’m dying. There’s no other way around it. Whether or not it’s going to be anytime soon, I don’t know. But it’s probably going to happen sooner rather than later. I can feel it in my bones.”

“Taos, I’m dying.”
I looked over at my grandmother. The woman that would’ve raised me after my parents had passed away if she hadn’t been so ill—she’d battled cancer for many years before she’d finally beat it.
She was ninety-four.
“You’re not dying,” I tried to argue.
“Tomorrow, I want you to go pick up Fran. And I want to go with you. Spend the day with you two.”
“I can’t spend the day with you tomorrow. We have a new lead that we’re following up tomorrow. But as soon as this is all over, you’re going to come with me to Vegas and watch me marry the woman that I’ve fallen in love with.”
My grandmother’s breath hitched.
“Then come over to dinner tonight,” she ordered.

Days later…she passed away in her sleep.

Fran realizes her new CrossFit coach doesn't recognize her, but she remembers him alright. His eyes were the calm when she'd wake up with nightmares after the night he saved her. Now that she's in his class, she intends on getting his attention again, but she didn't want to have to go through what she did before to have to get that attention.

Taos may not have wanted to teach this CrossFit class, but once he sees the gorgeous Fran, he's thanking God his friend made him do it. And once he realizes his deeper connection to her, he's even more glad because he can explore their chemistry all he wants. Now he just has to keep her in his home, in his life, because he wants her there forever. Which means he'll protect her with all his skills as a former detective when his past comes back to haunt them.

I loved Fran and Taos. They fit so easily, so sweetly together and they offer each other a sense of peace, and their attraction is intense. The Madd CrossFit series is off to a great start with these two. Now I can't wait for Fran's sister, Mavis, and her former best friend, now enemy, Murphy.

Bet nu, it is what it is.

No Rep is book #1 in Lani Lynn Vale’s new Madd CrossFit Series. The book features Taos Brady and Fran Pope. Taos is a CrossFit gym owner, mystery author and ex-cop. Fran is a tough, resilient, strong quirky woman recovering from a horrific attack. Fran has become a bit of a recluse since her attack, preferring the safety of her home to going out in the world. Her sister trying to help her regain her life convinces her to get out and try a CrossFit class. What she doesn’t expect to find is this intense attraction to the instructor, Taos Brady who is also the man that saved her from her attack. Their attraction and chemistry burned off the pages, and although a bit of a slow burn all the build up and mystery surrounding them made this story impossible to put down from beginning to end. I love the dynamics of these characters and the development of their relationship/romance. Taos built Fran up in his love and protectiveness and Fran was the woman he never knew he needed in his life. This was a fantastic start to the series! I love how LLV laid the ground work for the next two books in the series and cannot wait to read them next.

No Rep is the first book in Lani Lynn Vale’s new Madd CrossFit series and I am so here for it. I am not a fan of CrossFit but I am a fan of this new series and the Madd Crossfit crew.

Taos is big, buff, burly and underneath that tough exterior beats a heart of gold. Ex police officer, best selling author and reluctant CrossFit coach - the whole sweaty, knit short and grey sweatpants wearing package. Fran is the woman who has caught his eye and lit a spark in him. She’s working her way through a brutal assault, that unbeknownst to Taos, he helped her overcome. She is a pretty strong women despite her issues and I enjoyed watching her blossom under the tutelage of her CrossFit coach and friend Taos. Their chemistry proved undeniable and when they finally gave into their feelings, it was hot!

No Rep was the perfect read in one sitting romance romance and has me looking forward to the rest of the books in the series. TBR and Enjoy.

This book was another kitchen sink of writing by LLV. We have Taos who now co-owns the CrossFit gym and is teaching the class that Fran is now taking. He sees her and feels an instant spark. Fran, for her part, has been trying to overcome an attack that has left her quite shaken for a long time. It turns out that Taos played a part in helping her that night but she is afraid to let him know. There is now a serial killer who is targeting women with curly hair (which happens to be the kind of hair that Fran has). There was also the workouts that Taos would teach Fran how to do. It was kind of a mess and I had zero investment in either character. They were both kind of shallow and the whole "Pope" thing was utter nonsense. I don't even know why that was put in there. The whole serial killer angle could have been good it it wasn't for the supposed why of it. It didn't even really make sense. I am kind of upset that I paid $6.00 for a book that was pretty ho-hum at best. I am also over the constant drooling over men in gray sweatpants. It got old 10 books ago.

I was busting in excitement for this new series because just like with her Souls series, Lani is steering this one down a slightly darker more raw and gritty road that I am loving. Now with that said... this book still holds the classic Lani wit and humour with all the crazy I love dearly. It just has a little more edge that usual.

Taos is the man who made his life hunting down serial killers. It was also what made his quit his job doing so to become a gym owner.

Fran is a victim and the only survivor of a serial killer. Thanks to the cop that saved her life, she actually gets to live her life and try to move past the trauma.

These two have a unique history that binds them. Maybe not in the best way, but it was definitely in the stars for them to land up together. Their relationship dynamic was everything. A slow burn teasing pace with a whole lot of getting to know eachother mixed with a tonne of sexual chemistry that really set the mood in all the right ways.
I loved the sincerity between them. Fran and Taos didn't mess around when it came to being open and honest with what they felt and I appreciated that. They just felt easy together despite all the crazy surrounding them. That didn't mean it was easy. They both had trauma that really did effect them in many ways but I felt like Lani did a great job of working them through that and giving them the time they needed to heal.

The story seamlessly moves from one page to the next with just the right amount of punch heartache, sweetness and laughter.
My love for all things Fran and Mavis really is strong and I just adored that sister bond between them. But there is also a whole slew of epic side characters that also leave you wanting more in all the best ways too!.

I love the idea of their journey centering around the gym and finding love in CrossFit. It was fun and different and gave what would have been a really dark read, a lighter tonne that created a nice balance. I also feel like a learnt so much about the sport which was pretty cool!.

As a whole I just loved this book. Some of the subject matter is hard but balance is key and Lani nailed it here with Taos and Fran.
Honestly I'm so excited to see where this series takes us and obviously I'm dying to read Mavis's story.

Taos has always been a silent partner to his best friends gym Madd CrossFit. When he is asked to coach a class, he is not a happy camper but when he sees Fran he is intrigued. Fran is the reason for this particular class and she has a horrific past that has kept her living in a shell for the past couple of years but with her sisters help Fran is hoping this helps her gain more of her old self back.

Taos knows that Fran is something special and wants more time with her but as a former Detective he has been asked to help with a serial killer case that seems to be ramping up. Taos is dividing his time between Fran and the case but the more time he spends with Fran the more he knows she is his future. Can Fran find a new beginning letting go of the past with Taos or will a threat tear them apart.

I was not sure how this series would go because I don't know a lot about Cross Fit but it was explained thoroughly through the book and you are rooting for Fran as she begins her journey. There is a lot to this story and the chemistry between Taos and Fran was fantastic. Loved all the characters and cannot wait for the next book.

Another start to a fabulous series!! I know nothing about CrossFit but this book makes me want to join, lol. Taos is an ex detective, military man and current silent partner in a CrossFit gym with his best friend Madden. Let’s not forget a best selling horror author because of the things he has seen in the military and being a detective. He is forced to teach a bootcamp class when he sees HER. Fran has hidden away from the world for two years now following a horrible, crushing workout experience. Mavis, her sister, is forcing her to return to the land of the living and accompany her to her beloved CrossFit gym. With a serial killer on the loose targeting people with curly hair Fran is in the crosshairs once again. Will Taos be able to protect her or will he lose her before he even really has her?

No Rep is the first title in the Madd CrossFit series featuring a saviour and a survivor.
Taos is a former detective, turned mystery writer, who is also part owner in a CrossFit gym, who sometimes gets roped into running classes. His tough and gruff exterior hides a big hearted, protective, sexy, and sweet hero.
Fran is a survivor and despite a grueling attack is resilient, strong, and determined.
The attraction and chemistry between this pair is undeniable, but there’s more to their connection than meets the eye.
With intrigue and suspense added to the heat, heart and humor I’ve come to expect form Lani Lynn Vale, I was completely captivated, and thoroughly enjoyed this start to a new series.
The side characters captured my interest and I look forward to future additions to the series.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A nice romance, not quite in the same style as those by this author usually (darker / more serious with the serial killer and less drama with the exes (well there it ended quickly xD)), but I still read it with pleasure ! The Taos/Fran couple was adorable and so much fun (loved seeing them falling in love =))
In short, a romance nice to read =)
Gahhh! This book was awesome. I love how the characters at first resisted at all costs and then built on top of the friend foundation. It made their bond stronger for sure. I fell for them instantly and this story was so different and unique. Lani as usually does a great job with the opening hook of the story and doesn’t let you go until the end. I just wished there was more. I felt like the end was a little quick. Other than that the book was great. Steamy and intense. I mean...it’s kinda hard to not be intense with a serial killer on the loose. The suspense was awesome!
Taos and Fran have both been through some incredibly difficult times and are both working to try and moved past them. When they both meet in Taos's crossfit class they have instant chemistry and unbeknownst to them shared trauma. I very much enjoyed this slow burn romance and how we get to see them build a relationship by spending time together and getting to know each other. Both Fran and Taos work hard to try and hide their trauma, but together you see them be okay with being open and vulnerable to each other. Definitely a great start to a new series!
I can't give a fair rating because I only got a few pages in, but, for me, there were a few things an editor should have caught. Hero is talking about how he met the partner, says they were both in foster care, well did they meet at a home? at school? and says they married and divorced, moved into each others homes, then graduated college...wait...what?!? I was SOOOOOOOOO confused. Little shit like that pisses me off, and I just said forget it. Maybe I will try again another time.
Conclusion is annoyed within a few pages.
Woohoo! I am just excited for LLV's new series and it's definitely a great introduction to it. I was pulled right into the story. Fran and Taos' story is filled with laughs, suspense, secrets, and mystery. They had me laughing out loud but also sitting on the edge of my seat, wondering what was going to happen next.
This storyline was captivating from the very first page. Though it was a slow burn, the chemistry and undeniable attraction between them made the story exciting. The suspense and mystery were a page-turner.
I can't wait for Mavis' story and the next books!
I struggled to find all the workouts interesting, there was a lot of working out.
It’s a book about working out. The author does CrossFit, I don’t. I don’t even know what a burpee is, it might be what my gym teacher used to call a squat thrust- I dunno- sounds awful. Lot of swearing, huffing and puffing and falling to the ground and laying there after working out. Glue drying, paint drying, watching anything drying is comparable to how I felt while reading much of this book. Until Pearl Pope appears. She’s a fire cracker and adds a much needed spark to the book. It grew legs at this point. Thankful for Pearl. Pearl’s Frank and Bean Casserole is exactly what was needed to make this book memorable.
This series was a great start to a brand-new series, the character were awesome and oh so loveable.
Tao a man of many talents, he was a writer, ex-cop, gym owner. We loved the guy, and we thought he was super sweet, especially with Fran, As she was a wounder dove. We thought that they were perfect for one another, it was almost like they had an instant connection, and maybe they had connection had started many years ago with a chance encounter.
I thought Fran was a hoot, and we loved her personality, and we loved the way she was with her sister and nephew Vlad there was a lot of love there between them all. Mavis was a character that we loved the sh-- out off.
The story had a perfect mix of romance, amazing chemistry and parts made you laugh and smile and was infused with a bit of mystery and danger and self-healing. Can't wait to see what happens between Murphy and Mavis they got me intrigued. Loved it through and through.
I just love this one!
It was different then the other books by Lani and it just made it that much better.
Taos has got to be one of the best names ever. He was amazing. I just loved him and Fran they were perfect together.
Both have pasts that intertwine with each others.
This one was fun, exciting and sexy all at the same time. I just can't wait for the other books in this series.
