For a limited time, Glazed Donut Works in Dallas will sell doughnut bread pudding and ice cream

You read that right: bread budding made out of glazed doughnuts.

Formerly shuttered Deep Ellum sweets shop Glazed Donut Works has not reopened, not yet. But owner Darren Cameron is continuing to experiment in the kitchen, and he’s testing another batch of goodies ready for pick-up during a pop-up on Dec. 23.

Starting at noon Wednesday, Dec. 16, customers can pre-order Cameron’s doughnut bread pudding drizzled with butter-whiskey sauce. He’s also going to sell five flavors of ice cream, each based on a popular doughnut flavor.

Ice cream flavors, sold by the pint at Glazed Donut Works:

  • red velvet with cream cheese
  • blueberry mascarpone
  • chocolate cold brew coffee
  • maple bacon
  • Jim Beam vanilla bean

Forget about your diet: Cameron says he wants to “help put a sweet ending to the year” with this pop-up sale.

Cameron closed Glazed Donut Works in 2018 while he dealt with some health issues, and at the time, it wasn’t clear if the 5-year-old shop would reemerge. But Cameron still has the lease at that same Deep Ellum address, and mid-pandemic, he started baking again.
