Here’s what you need to know:
THUNDERSTORMS
Dozens of thunderstorms moved through the Valley on Monday.
Many of the cells produced hail. One cell in Wilton around 5:40 p.m. was particularly strong, dropping hail was near 1-inch in diameter.
The thunderstorms dissipated by sunset.
SNOW
The Sierra saw snow during the day Monday.
Officials put chain controls into place for parts of the day, which were lifted by the afternoon.
Accumulating snow also ended by the afternoon.
Snow continues to fall in the Sierra, but will not accumulate.
WHAT’S NEXT
Tuesday will bring showers -- rain and snow -- to the Sierra, but lower elevations will stay dry. Roads will be wet in the mountains but there will not be much impact on Sierra travel.
The rest of the week will be dry in the Valley with a warming trend.
