THIS IS HOW IT LOOKS IN SACRAMENTO. WE ARE LOOKING TO THE EAST. THESE ARE DECAYING THUNDERSTORMS. POP UP LITTLE RAIN SHAFT HERE. PA REALLY INTERESTING WEATHER DAY. COOL. 66 DEGREES. WINDS OUT OF THE SOUTHWEST AT 15. THIS TIME OF YEAR, THE AVERAGE HIGH IS 82. WE DIDN’T GET ANYWHERE NEAR THAT TODAY. IN STOCKTON, 64 DEGREES. EARLY CLOUDY. 65 DEGREES, LITTLE RECEIPT. WINDS OUT OF THE NORTHWEST. 60 FIVE DEGREES. IN SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, EARLIER THERE WAS SNOW, NOW THERE ARE RAIN SHOWERS IN THE VALLEY. 39 DEGREES. NO CHAIN CONTROLS IN THE SIERRA. WE DID EARLIER TODAY, BUT NOT NOW. THIS IS WHAT’S HAPPENING NOW. THE LAST THREE HOURS, THUNDERSTORMS DEVELOP AND DISSIPATE. THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST ACTIVE AREAS. PLACER COUNTY, ONE THUNDERSTORM AFTER ANOTHER. HERE’S LAKE OF THE PINES, HIGHWAY 49. BETWEEN AUBURN AND LAKE OF THE PINES, THERE IS A GOOD CELL. THIS ONE OVER HIGHWAY 193, IT IS STILL DELIVERING A LOT OF RAIN. THEN UP TO VIRGINIA TOWN, ANOTHER THUNDERSTORM. . THEY HAVE SEEN A FEW OF THEM TODAY. FURTHER TO THE SOUTH, MODERATE RAIN ACROSS EL DORADO HILLS AND ALL THE WAY DOWN TOWARDS I OWN. FURTHER TO THE SOUTH, RAIN AROUND SONORA. THIS IS A DISSIPATING THUNDERSTORM HERE. AS WE HEAD THROUGH THE NIGHT TONIGHT, WE WILL SEE THIS WEATHER SYSTEM PIVOT INLAND. WITH THAT, TOMORROW, THE ONLY CHANCE OF SHOWERS WILL BE IN THE SIERRA. THERE MIGHT BE THUNDERSTORMS AS WELL. A MIXTURE OF THUNDERSTORMS IN THE MORNING. SHOWERS AROUND 4000 FEET AND HIGHER, LEAVING HIGHWAY 49 AND DOWN THE HILL DRY. A LOT OF ACTIVITY. A RAIN AND SNOW MIX. IF YOU NEED TO TRAVEL OVER THE PATHS TOMORROW, YOU MIGHT FIND WET ROADS, BUT NOTHING TO REALLY GET IN YOUR WAY. FOR THE SIERRA, SHOWERS TOMORROW, DRY WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY. A CHANCE OF SHOWERS ON THE EASTERN SIDE OF THE SIERRA FRIDAY. THEN THAT LEAVES US DRY INTO MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND. FOR THE VALLEY, A WARMER DAY TOMORROW. BRIGHTER AND PARTLY CLOUDY. HIGH OF 76. Storms pelted Northern California with rain and snow on Monday – with some areas seeing hail and even a funnel cloud.Most of the severe weather passed through the Sacramento-San Joaquin Valley and the Sierra by Monday evening. THUNDERSTORMS

The thunderstorms dissipated by sunset.

SNOW

The Sierra saw snow during the day Monday.

Officials put chain controls into place for parts of the day, which were lifted by the afternoon.

Accumulating snow also ended by the afternoon.

Snow continues to fall in the Sierra, but will not accumulate.

WHAT’S NEXT

Tuesday will bring showers -- rain and snow -- to the Sierra, but lower elevations will stay dry. Roads will be wet in the mountains but there will not be much impact on Sierra travel.
