MY FAVOURITE AUTHOR
I am a voracious reader
of different kinds of books by different writers. Of all these books, the works
of Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay have impressed and attracted me most more than a
single reason.
I like Sarat Chandra
mainly because he wrote about the distressed and downtrodden people of our
society. He was against all sorts of social injustice and Sarat Chandra had
great sympathy for the helpless women of the then Bengali society.
All his characters are
common men and women of flesh and blood. His 'Datta', Debdas', 'Bipradas' and
Bindur Chhele' are some of the wonderful works of Bengali literature. Another
important thing about his writing is his style. Sarat Chandra wrote in a very
sweet and simple style.
Mention must be made of his short stories which have made him so famous. It is mainly as a short story writer that Sarat Chandra is known to the world. Thus, he was not only a writer of Bengal and India but of the world.
