As a Talent Development Adviser you will focus on planning, designing and delivering
innovative and engaging talent development programmes, toolkits and career pathway initiatives. As well as this, you will play an active role in co-ordinating mentoring and coaching for our colleagues to help them to achieve their full potential whilst ensuring we have a motivated and talented workforce for the future.
You will work closely with internal stakeholders to identify and develop internal talent, providing career development advice on appropriate learning programmes and career pathways. You will also deliver effective and engaging development sessions, facilitate group and action learning sets to develop individual and team engagement and capability.
You will support programme enrolment, provision of learning resources and acting as key touchpoint for guidance whilst and reviewing learners progress and support internal assessment of development as part of force career development pathways and where appropriate liaise with external bodies to ensure courses meet national standards and accreditation levels.
You’ll need the following essential skills and experience:
• Passion for the professional and career development of others
• Experience of developing talent programmes in a large or complex organisation as either a talent specialist or a HR / L&D generalist
• Good knowledge of learning needs analysis and experience in learning design and development tools
• Great customer focus with experience of establishing and maintaining effective relationships and networks
• Confident presenter, the ability to facilitate through excellent listening and questioning skills
• Excellent communications skills and ability to inspire
• Ability to gather and analyse information to identify skill, competency, behaviour and value requirements
• Good planning and organising skills with the ability to meet critical timescales
• Self-motivated with the ability to demonstrate initiative and suggest solutions
• Strong experience of developing others through mentoring and coaching, a qualification would be desirable

Vetting level:
Recruitment Vetting (RV) Applicants must be a resident of the UK for a minimum period of 3 years to ensure vetting checks can be successfully performed. A job offer will be dependent upon vetting clearance, medical information and references.
All staff including those appointed on fixed term contracts must successfully complete their probationary period before they are eligible to apply for a Northumbria Police vacancy.
