From USA Today bestselling author Prescott Lane comes a standalone second-chance romance between a Hollywood heartthrob and the small-town girl he left behind…

Sexiest man alive, scene stealer, Hollywood headliner.

That’s what the world calls him. I’ve got more colorful names for him, all of which would be bleeped out if I was on air doing my radio show. Even if he hadn’t broken my heart, he would just be Knox to me. Not a famous movie star.

Just a boy.

The boy who grew to be my first love. That is, until he ripped my heart out of my chest and stepped on it, live on the red carpet.

I thought that was all behind me. Until he decided to come waltzing back into my life. Granted, he looked hot as heck doing it, but that’s neither here nor there.

He may have acted alongside some of Hollywood’s hottest “it” girls, but being my leading man is a much harder part to win.

Knox is book one in the Merrick Brothers series by Prescott Lane. I actually read book two of this series, Ryder, quite some time ago and loved it so much that I always meant to come back and read the first book. I finally did and ended up loving it as well! This is a second chance romance with lots of steam, swoon and sweetness.

Knox Merrick first met Mae Sheridan when they were six years old and he had just lost his mother. Their friendship was cemented that day and continued over the entirety of their growing up. Mae’s parents were in the military, though, so much of their friendship was long distance, only seeing each other in the summers when Mae stayed with her grandmother. But they sent cassette tapes to each other instead of letters. Eventually, their friendship turned to love and they were each other’s first everythings.

Knox’s dream had always been to be an actor, to be famous and walk the red carpet. And his dreams were all coming true. One victim of his new stardom, though, was his relationship with Mae. Whether he broke her heart or she broke his, it didn’t matter, they ended. Now it’s five years later. They are twenty six years old. Mae was the one that got away, the only girl he ever loved. He can have any woman he wants and often does but never for long. Because his heart only ever belonged to Mae. It was only by accident that he heard that voice on the radio, a voice he would never forget, and he just knew that he couldn’t go on any longer without her. That he needed her back in his life. And he would do whatever it took to get her there.

Mae Sheridan grew up moving constantly with her parents. So being back in Haven’s Point, Colorado, living in her cute cottage and seeing her grandmother whenever she wants, is a dream come true. Her career in radio came along accidentally but she loves it. She’s good at it and her show has become syndicated. With one call, though, one voice she would never forget, her life was turned upside down. He was back, after five years.

Knox and Mae’s lives couldn’t be more opposite. Knox’s home and life is in Los Angeles, and often elsewhere while filming a movie. He’s a superstar and lives with paparazzi and crazed fans. Mae’s life is quiet. She has no interest in living in the spotlight. But a lifetime of friendship and love can’t be ignored. The feelings between them are still there, maybe even stronger. Forgiveness is easy when you love someone so much. But how will that life ever work? And, Knox seems to have a fan that is a little more disturbing than the usual. He wants to ignore it but his agent is concerned.

I loved these two together. And wow was their chemistry hot! I adored the way they were both so determined to make things work, even with so much against them. I also really like the connection between Knox and Ryder. They live very different lives but their love for each other is easy to see. This book kept me turning the pages, I couldn’t put it down. I’m so glad I finally read it and I highly recommend both books in the series. I hope you love The Merrick Brothers as much as I did.

I couldn't take any more of this mingin' rubbish but I'm by God going to rate it because I might have struggled but I made it over half way. Then I was seized by the urge to beat someone's arse and I knew I was done.

We've all read sooo many versions of this story before. Young couple in love since they were kids. The boy has big dreams to be a famous actor and leaves the girl. He gets caught up in celeb life and on national telly announces that he's a single man, destroying her in the process. Obviously, they break up. She cries for months, wasting away as she grieves the loss.
But him? He becomes a horny goat, banging countless women over the years, but oh yeah, readers are supposed to believe he is so deeply and passionately in love with the heroine.

What. The. Fuck. 😡

He was shagging his co-star two weeks after he and the heroine split up. TWO. WEEKS. THAT'S how much regard this bog-sucking nematode had for the girl he had been with for five years. He mourned (maybe) their relationship for two weeks before moving on, because he was so in love with her.
Riiiiiight 🙄.

And no surprise here, but after staying mad a few minutes and showing some backbone, she just lets him steamroll her into taking him back. Stupid, weak b*tch with no self-respect. This so-called 'hero' humiliated her on national tv in front of all her friends, in front of everyone in their town and then hooks up with someone new a fortnite later, and she barely puts up a fight when - FIVE feckin YEARS later - HE decides they should be together.
This man who is soooo in love with the heroine walks away without a fight and spends five years whoring and living the entitled celebrity life. In fact, that's how we meet him, waking up with a ONS in his bed. He doesn't even know her name.
🤮🤮🤮. Oh aye, he's a real prince of a guy, he is.
No. Gimme a goddamned break. Feck that. Feck him and feck her too, for being so pathetic and USELESS, for even looking at him or speaking to him when he graced everyone with his presence after years away.

And you know why I quit this book? Even if I'd have liked the story, I STILL would have quit it when I did because they are into kinky bondage sex. 🤮
What the everloving hell is wrong with most of these writers? Do they just think that every woman WANTS to read graphic sex scenes that are basically porn? That we relate to women who are weak and repeatedly go back to someone that doesn't deserve it? Women with so little self-regard they crave being tied up and smacked and ploughed into so hard they are sore the next day? That shit is disgusting. Just stop it already.
That's not love, and it's definitely not romance.

And shame on you, Ms. Prescott Lane, for not posting a bloody goddamned WARNING in the blurb that this book had BDSM. A writer with some class and respect for her readers would include a trigger warning, but I guess you have neither.

I will never so much as glance at anything by this writer again.

Three fingers up for this one -

This book brings me back all the sweetest memories of a good old romance novel.
I'm saying this because lately you can't easily find a book without angst, bully, jerk hero, weak heroine or all of these options.
Not that I don't like these books... But it's been too much in the past months.
Anyway... Back on track.

Since the beginning of the book, it's clear as day that Knox and Mae love each other. It's not a growing connection or awkward relationship.
It's a second chance after 5 years apart.

Knox Merrick is Hollywood royalty. Always on spotlight, paparazzi following everywhere, hottest man of the year, ladies man... You know the drill.

Mae Sheridan is the girl that he left behind... She runs her own radio show, but she didn't get credit for it, doing it under an alias, since she doesn't want the spotlight. Small town girl to the heart.

I love that they were highschool/college sweethearts.
Love that he chased after her since first chapter! Love that she were fierce to herself, to her friends and family, and didn't put everything behind to go after him and his dreams.
Love how protective he was... How loyal, after everything that he already had done in the past.
The cassette thing was just another trip into memory lane, cause I used to record all kinds of cassettes way back then, in my pre teen years.

It was a sweet and emotional story.
Definitely a good cliche with HEA.

Can't wait for Ryder's book!

The hero is a pathetic excuse of a human being. And the heroine is stupid enough to take him back after he has completed his man-whoring years.
Yayyy... how nice! Do you really think we, romance readers, need that... love that? 😡😡😡

Such a cliched story...
•boy and girl fall in love
•boy and girl break up
•boy waits the mandatory 2 weeks before he screws another girl (u know cause he’s hurting so bad)
•5 years later after rolling out of bed with ONS, boy is reminded of girl and wants her back (u know cuz she’s been the only one)
•boy makes a video to remind girl of their past
•Poof she’s back in bed with said boy (cause no one fuck like the boy)
•Throw in a stalker, leaked photos and a kidnapping...voila you have a 2020 romance!!

Wut wut😏

ALL MY REVIEWS CAN BE FOUND ON MY BLOG: ABSTRACT BOOKS

'Knox' is Standalone novel written by Prescott Lane. It is the first book of the new 'Merrick Brothers' and is told in dual point of view.

This was the first book that I have read by this author and I must say I am fairly impressed. There were parts of the book that were majorly boring and I could not cope to read further , but the story started out good.

Knox is a leading actor in the film industry and Mae is a simple girl living her plain life. Before his fame , both of them were dating and have known each other for like ever. That is until Knox messed it up! Now after 5 years of no contact , Knox hears her voice through a radio and decides to call her. Mae freaks out when she hears his voice and cuts the call. So he goes to see her in her town. From there starts a story of love and redemption.

The storyline of this book was good , however I could not find myself getting connected to the characters. The emotions that were portrayed in the book felt artificial and I just could not relate or anything. Which is why I stopped reading this book at about 45%. However these are my opinions and there may be a lot of you who might like this contemporary second chance romance , so don't hesitate to go it !

When you spend more time laughing at the characters and feel like your eyes are going to roll out of your head, you know this isn’t the book for you. So bored with all the overly used tropes authors tend to favour these days.

Hollywood Romance + Second Chance Romance?! YES PLEASE!

Knox & Mae met when they were 6 years old and were friends first then they became more in their teenage years. The majority of their friendship was spent apart because Mae is the daughter of a military family and she moved around a lot. Instead of traditional letters they taped recorded their voices and sent their letters through cassette instead. This part of the storyline was the SWEETEST. I couldn’t get enough of those. Later they began a relationship in their teens but due to a misunderstanding they separated and were both left broken hearted.

Mae is strong and sassy! She is full of humor and heart and I loved her spunk! She is tough as nails but deep down she has never gotten over her first love. She hosts a radio show called "The Breakup Bible" in an era of social media and pod casts she is determined and her radio show is doing extremely well. She lives solo and enjoys a nice quiet life.

Knox is a hardworking, famous actor but he has never ever forgot his connection with Mae. The moment he hears her voice on her radio show he is determined to track her down. Getting Mae back is not going to be an easy feat and mix in the drama that a celebrity life entails he has his work cut out for him.

Prescott Lane has written a true gem with Knox. One that I could not put down from start to finish. It is an emotional journey given the past and present filled with a bit of angst and mystery to uncover. The characters have crazy chemistry and all these things made for the best kind of second chance love story. Pick this one up for all the best FEELS! I cannot wait for more in this series to come!

"Love is not something to regret."

Maybe.....just maybe this was a ME issue. Maybe this was me hoping for just a little more strength in the storytelling. While the actual story could have been really amazing, there were a multitude of issues that kept me from really enjoying this one. The majority of it, unfortunately, had to do with the writing, the style, as well as the storyline as a whole. Even though the story did have some things that I enjoyed, it bugged me enough to want to DNF and skim quite a few times. And that makes me sad.

THIS entire story was frustrating beyond belief. The whole "I don't need a bodyguard, BUT I have a super famous boyfriend" with an "I told you so" caveat was irritating and made me quit the book MANY times. I literally wanted to shake Mae (by her hair) and call her every name in the book for being an idiot. I am sorry, but I don't find myself agreeing with being your "strong self" when everything is pointing to something dangerous and you think being stubborn is ok because that's who you are. Give me a break. It was a hair-tugging, frustrating read.

My next biggest issue was, we have all read this story so I was really hoping for a new spin or stronger writing to actually carry a regurgitated story. It's the same ol, same ol about a stubborn chick in love with some famous guy that breaks her heart....and then he comes back into her life after some epiphany but has to fight for her. I didn't like it and felt it was more angering than not because I literally hated the heroine. There was way too much inner dialogue from her that was boring and didn't carry the storyline forward. It actually stunted the progression because I found myself skimming quite a bit just to get through the actual story.

I'm bummed about this because the second book, Ryder, looks like a really great book but after this one, I am not going to waste my time on it. I really hoped this was going to work for me better than it did.

"Time is a failure because nothing can heal my heart from Mae."

I cannot recommend this book. I will not be gifting a copy out.

Prescott takes us on a Rollercoaster plane ride which takes off from the quiet and laid back Havens Point, Colorado and lands in the glamorous blinding lights of Hollywood, L.A. It's stuff celluloid dreams are made of.

description

Prescott captures perfectly, the nuanced emotions of starry eyed, second chance romance between a small town boy who makes it big & his childhood sweetheart. Knox Merrick is A perfect hero, who's heartthrob of millions but his heartbeats belong to the girl next door- Mae Sheridan. She's a radio show host and loves to solve Breakup Problems I loved their Cassette tape flirting ritual, which was both endearing and refreshing.

description

Their love dream bubble pricked by the widening gulf of their worlds. One is flying high, ones grounded firmly and has grown roots.
"My ex. He’s not just any ex. He’s THE EX. The shouty caps ex. The one that still haunts me. The one who still makes my heart sting."

description

There's a sinister subplot in the background that keeps the danger alive. We know it's coming, we know it's waiting in the shadows to pounce on the lovebirds blissfully unaware in their idyllic lake side cottage, but Prescott manages to stun us with the OMG I didn't see that coming
surprising, completely blindsiding twist!!
"No! This can’t be happening.
Not to me! Dear God, please!
I drop my phone to the ground.
It doesn’t shatter, but it doesn’t matter.
My life just went to pieces."

description

It was unexpected and changes the climax with alarming consequences.
The story flows steadily, it makes you feel vulnerable and hopeful in the same breath. Makes you want to believe in the power of love to bridge gaps of years and miles in the static moment when eyes meet and heartbeats fall in sync
I've always loved Prescott's style of writing and always await her books with eager delight.
5 stars for a combination of heartbreak and rage all rolled into one big ball of shit.

~ 5 Second Time Around Stars ~

Are you a fan of the Hollywood story that is also a second chance romance ? Then you should definitely read Knox by Prescott Lane. This is one of my favorites!!

I know I have said this before in my past reviews for this author, but it still stands true…. Ms. Lane has done it again, she has created a story that I was completely invested in. This story sucked me in and took me on an emotional rollercoaster ride. I don’t think I have found a book by Prescott that I haven’t been totally invested in. She is an amazing story teller.

Knox is the first book in Prescott’s newest series of standalone books about the Merrick Brothers. As I said this is a complete standalone novel, but we do meet Ryder in this book also and his book is next so I would recommend reading these in order. This story is told in Dual POV. I thought the flow and pace worked well for this couple. I loved that Mae wasn’t a push over when it came to Knox coming back into her life.

I thought this was a thoroughly enjoyable read and had everything I look for in a 5 star read. There was angst, laughs, romance, hurt and healing and of course some really steamy scenes that will melt your kindle. I also loved that as this story moved along, Prescott added the element of mystery to the story. Even though I figured things out kind of quickly, Prescott was still able to surprise me when it all played out and the reasons behind Why it happened. That will make more sense after you read the book.

In this book we meet Knox and Mae. Knox and Mae have known each other since they were 6 years old. They formed a friendship that eventually turned into more in college, but then things changed when Knox left home for Hollywood to be an actor. Things ended badly!!! Now Knox is back after 5 years and wants to get back with Mae and is willing to do anything to make that happen. Will Mae forgive him?? What happens when Hollywood gets in their way?? Can they get their HEA??? Read this book to find out.

I loved the secondary characters that we met in this story (except for one ;)) Although little 5 year old Gracie stole the show….what a sweetheart. I enjoyed meeting Ryder in this story as well and I look forward to reading his book!!

Like I said, if you love a second chance romance with a Hollywood A-Lister, then this is the book you should read. I think this is a great place to start if you haven’t read a book by Prescott Lane.

Celebrity themed stories makes me wary. But the blurb of this one had a nice feel to it, I wanted to see how they would handle a celebrity and small town thing. I've enjoyed Prescott Lane's books previously so gave it a go. This also has a second chance romance childhood best friend theme to it. Knox and Mae were best friends first then became more. As Knox gained popularity the whole Hollywood scene came between them.

I appreciate that Mae that moved on no pining, they both tried to. They were with other people just that the feelings they had were so strong they never really lost it. The radio show brought them together. It didn't seem fast as we got flashbacks in form of cassette letters from them that established their closeness and is present throughout the book. It was still there that connection. The pitfalls of fame and Hollywood are present here so the struggles they faced are real. Since they both had different lifestyles, it was an adjustment for Mae in a big way.

Mae is a firecracker and faced things after she got over her initial trepidation. I like the honesty between them will all the navigating the uncomfortable stuff. It tackled the privacy, paparazzi and stalkers all part of the celebrity life. It wasn't like smooth sailing or ignoring those aspects. So I liked that. My only thing I feel the ending felt a tad rushed and tied things up quickly. Still overall a pleasant read and easy read that kept my attention.

This is my first Prescott Lane book and it won’t be my last. I flew through this one, invested from the very beginning. This is a second chance romance between Knox, a hot Hollywood movie star, and Mae, a girl he’s known since they were six years old. They were best friends that turned into something more until she was hurt by Knox when he announced very publicly (on the red carpet) that he was very much single—when he was very much in a relationship with Mae!

It’s been five years since that happened and now he is back in her small Colorado town claiming he never forgot her and wants another chance. Mae is a very private person who is a radio host of a very popular talk show where her identity is a secret. Can she handle the Hollywood limelight that comes with Knox?

There is a mystery element added when Knox starts receiving threatening letters and strange things start happening with Mae. I enjoyed it, but it was no big surprise to who was behind it. I thought it still added to the story, though.

This is the first book about the Merrick brothers. Book two is about Ryder, whom we get to meet very briefly in this book. I am definitely looking forward to his story.

Thank you to Valentine PR and the author for an electronic advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.

WeCelebrity and actors....I usually like to imagine the romance possibilities but we rarely think of how hard it is to be a celebrity until you love one.

I really liked how this story laid out these two characters. It's very in depth because they've known each other since they were six. They were best friends and lovers until Knox said the wrong thing at a red carpet premiere.
Five years go by. This was the telling time....she takes her grief over break up to a career specializing in break up. This part is where I was disappointed in Knox. He wasted no time in getting in with other women. Granted she rejected all his pleas of asking for explaining or forgiveness. I did get annoyed at her upset at his past five years. She's pretty intense at times. But she's strong and once she clear she's doing the right things.

I love Gigi, Thomas, Every, Grace, and Timothy. We see Ryder, Knox's brother enough to see him as next story and that it will be interesting too, as he has a big mystery around him.

The book is so cleverly written. I'm savoring it for a second read soon.

Knox is a sweet second chance story. Knox and Mae were best friends from the moment they met. Not always near each other, they stayed close at heart until Knox’s career choices put a wall up between them.

“I wasn’t going to grovel or beg. I was Hollywood’s hottest up and coming actor, the world was my oyster.”

When Knox shows back up as a caller on Mae’s radio show, Mae has to decide if she is willing to risk her heart on a second chance.

“How am I supposed to trust my heart? It’s been wrong so many times before. I’ve made a career out of how wrong my heart is,” I say, throwing up my hands.
“Your heart only has to be right one time,”

This story was easy to read with an exciting twist at the end. It is a stand-alone and the first Merrick Brothers book. And I definitely can’t wait for Ryder’s book!

This is an ARC review. All opinions are solely my own.

Knox by Prescott Lane is book one of her Merrick Brother series. This is the first book I've read by Prescott Lane and it definitely won't be the last.

Knox is the superstar who left his hometown to make it big. But when he left he also left Mae. And it was not a good separation. Now, Knox is back and ready to win Mae over.

What I really loved was that Mae is a strong woman but she still has her feelings. As we all know, those feelings can ebb and flow. She wants to forgive but then there's always that little reminder in the back of her mind. I like that this is a dual POV book since there is so much backstory. It helps to really get drawn in.

I will be reading more by Prescott Lane and I can't wait for Ryder's book.

My Musings

I read Ryder first, so of course I had to read Knox too. This book is amazing. I loved Knox, Mae, and the other cast of characters. The plot is emotional and had my heart aching for the hero and the heroine. I have to mention little Gracie, what a sweetheart! I am so glad I found this series on Kindle Unlimited. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves emotionally charged romance with compelling characters and a fantastic plot. Happy ☺reading 📚!

I really wanted to give it a 1 star. It gets a 1.5 because it didn’t make me angry (didn’t care enough about the characters or story) and its not as bad as other cliche books with horrendous writing, just mostly predictable writing and extremely terrible execution. It wasn’t outright dreadful, just very basic and cliche. I got sucked in by the blurb and like the other Prescott books, it’s slow, boring, simple and the MCs are not very likable or exciting. It’s just meh. Everything happens way to fast: Boy wants second chance with girl. Girl fake resists. Boy does one nice thing. Girl forgives him. That’s all by 30%. Book should be over? The rest is an unrealistic timeline of events. Just silly stuff like stalking, kidnapping, and insta love (like after 1 meet up). And mad amounts of uninspiring sex to just fill the pages because there’s not really much of a story after all.

Review by Jen Skewes

A Hollywood love story, a second chance romance and it’s written by Prescott Lane? Sign me up!!! I think it’s been a little while since I have read a book by Ms. Lane. So, when I saw that she was releasing a new book I could not eve tell you how excited I was. I honestly didn’t even need to read the blurb, because I knew I was reading it, regardless of what it was about. And one case Ms. Lane did not disappoint! I devoured this book in one day, and it’s been a while since I have done that. From the moment I started reading, I did not want to put this book down. And when I was finished I wanted to go back and read it all over again, just so U could hold onto these characters. That is how much I loved this book!!!

Knox and Mae met when they were six years old. She was visiting her grandmother who lived across the street from Knox. Mae walked herself across the street to say hello to Knox and then did something that shocked him but is also the reason that the two of them became best friends. Even if they didn’t live near each other, they were constantly in contact. They had the sweetest friendship until it became more. But then Knox went off to become an actor and completely broke her heart. It’s been five years since that night and she never expected to see or hear from him again.

Knox Merrick is now a famous Hollywood actor. Mae still lives in the small town that they met in. She has her own radio talk show where no one knows her real identity. They were just six years old when they first me. It’s been five years since that night, and also the last time that she spoke to or saw him. Until one night she takes a phone call on her show and it’s the voice that she never expected to hear again. Knox Merrick is on the other line and she has no idea why. And if that wasn’t confusing enough, he is back in town and is looking for her. Mae is still hurt over what he did. Knox wants her back and regrets what happened every day. Will she give Hollywood’s hottest star a second chance?

First of all, I completely adored Knox. Yes, he screwed up 5 years ago, but he has never stopped loving Mae and will do everything to prove to her how much he loves her, and how sorry he is. He is a Hollywood star but at the same time he is not so much your typical Hollywood playboy. There is still a part of the small hometown kid in him, and being with Mae, wanting to protect her and love her, makes you see that.

I loved Mae and how she did not give in so easily. She was hurt and she was not about to let him back in her life so quickly. I loved her relationship with her grandmother, and I loved how she sticks up for herself.

Knox and Mae belonged with each other. There was never a doubt. Mae just needed a little more convincing. The way Knox showed her how much he loved her and all that they have been through was absolutely heart melting. It was so sweet and thoughtful and showed his love.

Prescott Lane has been one of my favorite authors for some time bow. And Knox is the exact reason why I love her writing. It is filled with swooning moments, laughter, sexy times, and just the right amount of drama ang angst. The pace at which their story was written was perfect. The way we were brought back in time to experience the special moments between them was done in such a unique way and just added that much more to the story. I loved every part of this book. I devoured this book in one day which has been rare for me of late. I was completely submerged in their story and never wanted to let go. Knox is a flawlessly written second chance love story that make you feel all of the feels. I cannot wait for Ryder’s book

Prescott Lane does it all in this book. Second-chance romance? Check. Movie star romance? Check. Small-town romance? Check. Mystery subplot? Check.

Knox crushed Mae when he appeared to dump her during a red carpet interview five years earlier. They were childhood best friends-turned boyfriend and girlfriend, and then they're nothing. Mae has tried to forget him, but their bond was so tight, so resolute that it doesn't crumble as easily as she would like. It's the same for Knox. Mae is the standard he holds all other women to, and they are found wanting. When he hears her voice on the radio, he knows he has to go get his woman.

The mystery likely won't be as big of a mystery to you as it is to Mae and Knox. Prescott Lane drops clues, and from the first one, I suspected that a particular character would be up to no good. The romance, though, moves differently. Mae is not the pursuer here; Knox is the determined one.

There are some hilarious moments in this book, and there are some that will make you tear up. And then there are the sexy times, which will leave you in NEED.

I enjoyed this book, and I'm excited about Knox's brother Ryder's book. He intrigues me a great deal.

Knox was the type of book you get lost in. This book had me hooked right away. I picked it up and all of a sudden I was lost in this small town world .

“Love is not something to regret. Even if it doesn’t last, you should never look back and wish you didn’t love someone. Even if they hurt you. Because taking the risk to love is an act of bravery.”

I didn’t stop until I was finished. You know a book is good when you look up when you are done to see when the second book comes out. Knox and Mae were characters I just wanted to know more of them from the moment I was introduced. I really loved these two and the realities they faced together.

“See, that’s the whole problem with falling for your best friend. When the love ends, so does the friendship.”

Second chance romance with a celebrity. YES PLEASE! I am a huge sucker for a book with a celebrity that goes back to their home town looking for the girl that got away. This also has a bit of a suspense element to it. I am so excited for book 2.
Thank you Valentine PR for the arc

Prescott Lane writes some really heartbreaking, all the feels kind of books. This one had a little bit of suspense thrown in there. Knox and Mae were childhood friends, each others better half, until all was gone one day. Years pass, and one voice brings memories back for him and something he isn't going to let go again. He wants Mae back in his life, and he won't stop until he gets back in her good graces again.

Second chance romance with feel good, emotional moments. Hollywood life has made him a bit cynical, so he goes to the one place where he knows he can just be him as much as he can. I liked Knox and Mae together. They really shared so much growing up, the recordings, so unique and sweet. I'm really looking forward to Ryder's book!

Be careful when offering up your heart, because you might not ever get it back. Knox is a larger than life romance that will grab you by the heart and refuse to let go. The one that got away turns out to be not easily forgotten. Gracie and Knox are the best kind of heartache. They pull every emotion to the surface and give them the chance to breathe. From sexy to sensitive these characters know how to keep the heart invested. There is no calm, cool and collected when it comes to a Prescott Lane novel. "There's only naughty, delicious anticipation.

This is a first time read from this author and I loved every minute! I loved the flow of the book. That characters were awesome and down to earth even if one of them was a big time celebrity!
The book is kind of a mystery but a beautiful love story none the less.
You know when you just know this one girl I’d the one for you?
Well after listening to Mae on her talk show on the radio after not hearing her voice in so many years Knox just had to see her again and win her back.
The problem is that Mae is the small town girl. She likes her anonymity. She loves to live a simple life. As opposed to Knox who is in the limelight.

Just love to see these two in love and willing to make it work. Beautiful love story. I cannot wait to read more from this author if this book was any indication on how great she writes!

Mae and Knox were friends then in love during their childhood and when Mae moved away. The two kept in touch by letters until Knox listens to advice and breaks both their hearts. Five years later Mae is working at a radio station and Knox is a Hollywood heartthrob. They never forgot each other and the fire is still burning between them. Will they be able to settle their differences and have a second chance? A good read.

5 star review Knox (Merrick Brothers #1) by Prescott Lane

Prescott Lane is a relatively new author to me and I have no idea why that is. From the first to the last chapter I was fully invested in the story that she wove. Knox ticked all the boxes for me and I fell for him, hook, line and sinker.

This is a second chance at love story that was well written and I had a hard time putting it down. Knox and Mae have been friends for over 20 years and the history that lies between them of friendship and love was heartwarming. Knox hurt Mae badly and she is determined to hold her heart and love back fearing that she will be hurt again, however she does not count on Knox’s determination to win her back.
There was also some suspense which really added to my enjoyment and although I guessed who the “villain” was it took me a little while to work it out. The chemistry between them sizzled and you could almost feel the tension as Knox worked to convince Mae to give them another chance.
The secondary characters were entertaining especially Mae’s grandmother and little Gracie was adorable. I cannot wait to read more in the series.

This book. Just wow. To start with, I LOVE Mae’s drink at the coffee shop. I love her, too. and Knox is just like super swoon. He was once a jerk and he knows it. One of the best second-chance romances I’ve read!

All my reviews are on my blog, https://jaylisdevilishreads.blogspot.com, so you can go check those out.

"You know the day is going to be crap when the hair tie on your ponytail isn't right. Two loops around is too loose, and three loops is too tight. The day is doomed."

This novel has a little bit of everything for everyone. It has the small-town celebrity hero, second-chance romance, and an adorable relationship.

Summary:

He may have acted alongside some of Hollywood’s hottest “it” girls, but being my leading man is a much harder part to win."

Characters:

I like the characters, but I didn't fully connect with them. I feel like I understand the feelings and emotions they have, rather than experiencing those with them. There are not too many characters in this book because it mainly focuses on Mae and Knox.

Mae is an average girl who stands her ground when she should. She worries about her body image, and is extremely relatable at times. She likes target, (That for me is an automatic yes! Who doesn't like Target?)
I like her and her perspective, but I feel like I didn't really know her well enough to be fully invested.

Knox: I also like Knox. He is really sweet and cute. However, we don't see him a lot in the fame aspect, except for the last 20 percent, so I didn't really witness him in that light. In the majority of the book, he is just a regular guy, and I completely forgot he was famous.

The secondary characters play a really small part in this book for me. I didn't really connect with any of them. (Some I just

Plot:

The plot is great! There are some really fun and entertaining scenes, as well as some bland scenes.

I love the radio host part of Mae's job. It is super fun and entertaining, even interesting to see the behind the scenes! I love how original the concept of this radio show is, which is why I wish there was more!

I like to read about how characters are independent, even though they are in a relationship. It's interesting to see how the characters "shine in their own light". I feel like this book has the opportunity to do that with this character, if there was just a little more elaboration on their separate lives.

One point I love are the cassette tapes! These characters use these tapes in such a fun and cute way, I can't help but love it! The idea is amazing, and I really need to go out and buy cassette tapes now!
loved to see their beginning/childhood relationship, how it all began

main focus of this whole novel is Mae and Knox, and their relationship. I like how the author put them as her main focus, but at times I was a little bored. There are moments when the relationship just seems kind of repetitive. For example, the characters have the same talk numerous times, and yet nothing really changes.

Rating:

Overall, I give this book 3.5 stars! I like the characters and their personalities, but I didn't love them. I feel like I couldn't really connect with all of them.

The plot is interesting and intriguing. I like the originality it has in some of the scenes. I love the inner monologue the characters have at times.

The relationship between the characters is really cute and sweet. I like seeing how that evolves with time.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
