What is really happening on the “other side of the wire”? Is Beyond Revelations what it claims to be—a reclusive religious order preparing its flock for the Second Coming—or is it a cult with much more sinister intentions? New York City TV reporter Francine Vega is thrown out of her comfort zone when she travels from ‘the City’ to a small New England town to hunt for a friend who has gone missing. Her search reveals that the disappearance is tied to Beyond Revelations and a nationwide conspiracy that could shake the underpinnings of the American government. To find the truth, Vega must involve the Press, the FBI, religious leaders, civil rights leaders and even the President as she races against the clock to rescue her friend and avert a national calamity.
However . . . the editing was bad along with the proof-reading. Many words were misspelled, commas missing or in the wrong place, in other words a hot mess. I am going to look up the first two books because this one was interesting in spite of all the “boo-boos.”
I was given a free copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review. Francine Vega returns in this third novel in the series. When a friend disappears, the search leads her to investigate a religious organization, with the help of the FBI, family, friends both new and old, and even the President of the United States. This was the first novel I had read by John Hazen, and it won’t be the last. Even without having read the first two installments in the series, I was able to completely enjoy this novel. It was fast-paced and exciting, while still taking the time to develop new characters and keep the reader invested in the returning cast. I loved the twists and turns and appreciated the fully resolved ending. I will definitely be reading the first two books to catch up on what happened before. A must-read.
Sinister plots from a religious organization are thwarted by investigative reporter, Francine Vega.
I would have given this story three stars but I had to deduct one for the poor editing the book has had. Quite sloppily done, actually. Otherwise, the story was okay but unexceptional.
John Hazen’s “Beyond Revelation” is a contemporary thriller about a plot to manipulate timely social issues to disrupt and possibly destroy our democracy. Readers who enjoy international intrigue and government thrillers will love Hazen’s book.
What I found refreshing about “Beyond Revelation” was the heroine was not your run-of-the-mill, over-done, stereotypical former Seal Team Six commander-turned-Cia Analyst or burned out detective seeking to find redemption for letting the killer get away or caped crusader with out-of-this-world superpowers. Francine (Fava) Vega is a television political talk show host. Basically, she’s a journalist who stumbles upon a mystery with international repercussions while searching for a lost friend. In a time when journalism is demeaned and dismissed by many as “fake news”, I enjoyed reading about a reporter who uncovers a plot to destroy our country as well as a way to prevent its destruction. Fava doesn’t rehash fictional blog posts or make up lies in her work, but performs careful research, in-person exploration and real discussions with informed decision makers. That’s what journalists do. And in doing so, she uncovers a dangerous terrorist plot and helps save our democracy. Not bad.
I put off reading this book because, to be honest, I thought I'd be bored to death reading it. I was delighted that the book took off at a fast pace and only increased speed and depth the more I read. Francine and her family found a soft spot in my heart along with her friends she already had and the new ones she picked up along the way. I wanted to read the book straight thru but my grandchildren thought Memaw needed to stop and pay attention to them for a few hours, which I adored! They are precious to me even if I had to put my book down for awhile several times to cater to them. I hope to read more bout this managerie of friends that have woven a special place in my heart. I hope to read more books about them in the coming months! Thank you for such a wonderful book! ❤
Beyond Revelation, the third installment in John Hazen's Francine Vega series, speeds along with the energy of a fast-moving train. As Francine (Fava), making use of her well-honed TV reporter’s instinct, delves deeper into the secrets and shady goings-on of the sinister group Beyond Revelation, we as readers as hooked into wondering what she is going to find. In chapter after chapter she peels away the layers of mystery, each bringing us closer to the answer and eager to turn the next page to find out more. Is Beyond Revelation a doomsday cult in the tradition of the Manson Family or The People’s Temple? And if so, what is it planning? Only one way find out: Read Beyond Revelation and get ready for a genuine thrill-ride.
I found this book to be well written and riveting. The characters are compelling and easy to relate to. The storyline takes the reader to picturesque places and extraordinary predicaments. Francine Vega is the main character and is a talk show host on her own network. Her husband, Will, is an FBI agent so she has access to information that others don't. She gets involved in a missing person's case through her long-time friend, Jonas. I recommend anyone who enjoys a thrilling mystery to curl up with this book when you have the time to read it straight through. It is nearly impossible to put down. I received this books as an ARC in exchange for an honest, unbiased review.
A fast read with strong characters, ripped from tomorrow's headlines
Beyond Revelations is fearless, full of heart, love-able characters, and twists and turns that will take you to the very heart of darkness. Hazen creates in Francine Vega, the protagonist you not only root for, but wish you were fighting alongside. The tension continued to ratchet up with each page turn with each chapter flowing effortlessly into the next.
In this story, the media the media and the FBI join forces against a group of white power doomsday cultists hellbent on destroying democracy. Francine is a strong woman, who more than holds her own when fighting alongside her FBI agent husband
This is the third book in the Francine Vega series. I was intrigued after reading the blurb and wasn’t aware that I’d be jumping into the midst of a series. Thank goodness it stands on its own and gives just enough background to bring you up to speed. The storyline is one that could very well be ripped from current events. This had the potential to be a higher rated book from me because I truly did enjoy it, but there were too many editing errors to justify a higher rating - 3.5 stars rounded up to 4.
Francine Vega is a journalist and now owns her own network. Is married to Will, a FBI agent and they have 3 children in the family. I like her and her friends. Quite an adventure (and not necessarily a good outcome for her family) investigating the Beyond Revelation group. Are they true believers in the rapture or are the recruiters in it for the MONEY and power over lesser valuable people? When she is shot at for merely being close the barb wire fence, she is highly motivated to research the people beyond the wire... Good book
WHAT AN AWESOME NOVEL!! I liked that Francine Vega took her FBI husband's suggestion that she open a new television station when she got fired and blackballed. She was leery but after she convinced Frack to come out of retirement to help get the station up and running, she ended up in a small town and into a cult named BEYOND REVELATION and people of color missing!! THIS NOVEL SEEMED SO REAL THAT IT COULD HAPPEN THIS YEAR AND I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE NEXT BOOK!!
What a tremendous and heartwarming thriller. I’m blessed to be retired so I didn’t have to put it down very often as I breezed through this story of Francine Vega, a journalist and her husband and friends in the FBI. Some of her contacts have disappeared. As she tries to find information on these disappearances, she finds a nearby religious cult. This makes for a fast-paced passion producing novel.
A church, a cult, or something else Francine will find out.
Warning don't start this close to bedtime, you mihht have a hard time putting it down. Something has happened to oe of Francine's friends and is determined to find out what it was. As in the first couple of the Vega books there is plenty of action, suspense, lose, and happiness to keep you guessing while sometimes cheering and at others wanting to cry..
Great commentary on current events hidden in a mystery
I enjoy a goid mystery but I'm also aware and involved in environmental and social justice issues. This book has a great plot interwoven with current controversial events. I couldn't put it down! Great summer read.
A awesome read. Non-stop action throughout book. Criminal activity and protocol keeps you on the edge of your seat. I received ARC copy and this is my honest opinion.
