Did you know that our gut #bacteria can affect our social #decisions? 💬 A recent study revealed that increased bacterial diversity in the gut induced by our dietary intervention was associated with a heightened sense of social #fairness when making financial decisions. This happens because our gut bacteria affect the gut-brain interaction, which in turn impacts our decision-making behavior. The Problem with Peer Reviews 🔎 With traditional manager #assessments prone to bias or limited perspectives, an increasing number of organizations are turning to #peer #reviews for a more holistic evaluation of team members. However, recent research suggests that when peer reviews are transparent, individuals #strategically navigate these evaluations to shape their own image and improve their chances of success. For example: 💡 Individuals carefully select whom they evaluate, especially when they are about to be evaluated themselves. 💡 People tend to avoid negatively reviewing active peers or participating in pivotal evaluations in order to minimize potential backlash. With this revelation, organizations must recognize the strategic aspect of peer evaluations and implement safeguards to promote constructive feedback and mitigate biases. What does Business Leaders Really Think About Generative AI (#GenAI)? 👾 In a comprehensive survey conducted in July and August 2023, an INSEAD team delved deep into the minds of over 1,200 INSEAD alumni to uncover some fascinating insights 🔎 Here are a few of them: 🤖 A whopping 68 percent of respondents reported using GenAI in their personal lives, with an impressive 64 percent using it at work. 🚀 Nearly half of the respondents expressed excitement rather than concern about the rise of AI. Why? Mainly because GenAI saves time and increases efficiency while relieving humans of mundane and tedious tasks. ⚠ Interestingly, the primary worry among respondents was not that AI would kill jobs, but instead its potential misuse with the associated ethical and safety implications. 🌎 While respondents worldwide were enthusiastic about GenAI, those in Europe were more likely to see organisations benefitting more than individuals. This group was also less likely to be using generative tools than counterparts in North America and Asia, perhaps reflecting a higher scepticism around new technologies and concern about digital privacy in Europe.
