San Fernando Valley-bred fun bunch HUNNY — Jason Yarger, Jake Goldstein, Jason Grimmett and  Joey Anderson — spent much of the pandemic churning out almost 100 demos. And today they released only their second single since the summer of 2019, when the quartet’s bouquet of affirmatives, “Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes.,” arrived via Epitaph Records.

Clocking in at just over 2 minutes, “Speed Dial” is a satisfying mix of the alternative rock, pop-punk and new wave influences the band has dabbled in since their inception. “We’re trying to get to the root of the music we want to make at this point,” the band says, and to do so they’ve continued working with producer Carlos De La Garza (Paramore, The Linda Lindas), who helmed their debut album.

“Speed Dial” is the first single from a new EP, “Homesick,” which comes out July 22.
