In Date Night, Carell stars as a man desperate for a romantic evening out with his wife, played by Tina Fey. The couple steals a reservation at a popular Manhattan bistro, which kicks off more thrills than the duo bargained for. But had his character taken advice from the real-life Carell, he'd know that sometimes all you need for true romance is beer and pretzels.

What was your most memorable date night?

The first date I had with my wife. We went to Green Mill, a well-known bar in Chicago. I believe we ordered beer and pretzels.

Have you ever cooked a romantic dinner for your wife?

I love my wife dearly, and, therefore, I've never cooked a meal, romantic or otherwise, for her. Keep in mind that we've only been married for
14 years—there's no need to rush these things.

What do you consider an aphrodisiac or romantic food?

I find pork chops with those little white underpants around the bottom to be very romantic.

What's your favorite dish to make at home?

I don't cook, but I do grill. My favorite recipe is for marinated flank steak. I've convinced myself that I'm actually pretty good at it, but most likely, I'm not.

Name three things that you always have in your refrigerator.

Soy milk, because my daughter has a severe milk allergy; Diet Coke; and strawberries.

Is there something you like to eat, even though you know you shouldn't?

I love In-N-Out Burger.

Do you have any comfort foods?

My mom's lasagna.

What's the perfect snack?

Potato chips and dip. Then it's time for my morning coffee.

What's the most unusual thing you've ever eaten?

My son's Play-Doh. It was disgusting. I think they make it disgusting for a reason.

Of all the places you've traveled, where's the best food?

The best food is in Chicago. There are great restaurants everywhere, from fancy places to burger joints.

What's your drink of choice when you go out?

Amstel Light or red wine.

What would you never, ever eat again?

Smelt. My dad used to eat smelt and mayo sandwiches. Yikes.

Tell us about your most unforgettable meal.

It was a Thanksgiving when my parents came from Boston to visit me in Chicago. They actually brought the entire meal on the plane with them, including a fully cooked turkey.

What would people be surprised to find in your kitchen?

I think people would be surprised to find a unicorn in my kitchen. So would I.
