ALTOONA, Pa. —Sheetz's latest own-label beer is brewed with a special ingredient: Watermelon gummy rings.
The wheat ale, named Project Watt-Ahh-Melon Ring, is made in partnership with Richmond, Va.-based Hardywood Park Craft Brewery. It is available for a limited time in select Sheetz convenience stores across Virginia and North Carolina.
Project Watt-Ahh-Melon Ring is a "light and refreshing" tart watermelon beer with 5.3% ABV, Sheetz said. Four packs of 16-ounce cans sell for $7.99.
Because the beverage was made as a small batch craft beer, it won’t be restocked when sold out.
- Sheetz is No. 14 on CSP’s 2020 Top 202 ranking of U.S. convenience-store chains by size.
“We are thrilled to partner with Hardywood Park Craft Brewery, a beloved brewery and destination in the heart of Virginia, to create this limited-edition craft beer,” said Ryan Sheetz, assistant vice president of brand at Sheetz. “Our first-ever craft beer release in Virginia and North Carolina, this beer is the perfect way to cap off the end of summer.”
Sheetz, Altoona, Pa., has partnered with breweries before. In spring 2019, it created its first craft beer, Project Coffee Hopz, with Rusty Rail Brewing Co., Mifflinburg, Pa.
