Betty V. Cedergren was born and raised in midwestern Minnesota. She has been passionate about early childhood education throughout her adult life and career. With a Bachelor Degree in elementary education, her teaching experience includes more than 30 years of teaching K-2nd grade in the Minnesota public school system, as well as, teaching in two different Christian elementary schools which used the ACE and Abeka curriculums respectively.
Her missionary experience is just as rich having served in lay missions for three years in the 1960s in Liberia, West Africa, together with her husband, John, and their three children, Mark, Alan, and Karen. From 1983 – 1995, Betty and John, lived as missionaries in the Philippine Islands, where her teaching skills were put to use in educating adults in the Bible and Ministerial Training Center the Cedergrens founded together with their adult daughter, Karen. In 1990, while living in the Philippines, Betty also founded one of the first Christian Preschools in the Province of Tarlac. The Bible School and the Preschool are still in operation today. Betty and John have been married for over 64 years. They have four adult grandchildren and two great grandchildren (with a third great grandchild on the way). Her favorite verse is Romans 8:28, “And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.” To God be the glory!
