Daphne

I knew who I was before Olivier Durand came along. Despite growing up among the privileged elite, I never cared about corporate ladders or dream weddings. I proudly wear the label of social justice warrior. Until a car accident changes everything overnight. A video goes viral: Chicago’s Hottest Bachelor, billionaire Olivier Durand pulling me from my burning car. When he sets his sights on me, the whole world is watching. He can chase after me all he wants, but my answer will be the same: I loathe the ultra-wealthy. Even when they’re handsome, persuasive and...I have to admit, charming. It’s a hell no from me, though. Until suddenly, I’m not sure I’m the woman I thought I was.

Olivier

Now I know how the players on the NHL team I own must feel. Relentlessly hounded. Once the video of me pulling a woman from her burning car goes viral, privacy becomes a thing of the past. For whatever reason, Twitter has collectively decided this woman and I should become a romantic thing. A hashtag combining my name with hers is trending daily. Absolute nonsense. But then I meet her, and realize Twitter got it right. Daphne Barrington is beautiful, funny, brilliant and sweet. Now I just have to convince her to date me. Easier said than done. She’s maddeningly stubborn, and my deep desire to be with her soon has me writing massive checks. Not for jewelry or cars, but to charities. Winning Daphne’s heart is going to cost me, and I’m not sure even I have enough money to do it.

Olivier Durand is the owner of the NHL Chicago Blaze team. He is a single dad to his teenage daughter Giselle and being as present as he can in her life takes up any time outside of his job. This leaves little time for romantic interests but he has no problem finding someone to share a bed with when the need arises.

Daphne Barrington is the daughter of a Senator who pretty much abhors her parents way of life. She finds wealthy opulence and their ignorance of problems in society unacceptable. She has devoted her career to help those less fortunate, she is passionate about helping others and caring for the homeless.

Their paths cross one fateful day when Daphne is involved in a car accident, leaving her in a life threatening situation. Olivier is the man that pulls her from the inflamed car, saving her life. Two well known names soon become the subject of social media fixation with people romanticizing the hero saving the beautiful girl.

In an effort to quell the interest they decide to meet each other in person, give the media the photos they want and be done with all the crazy. However, nothing could have prepared them for the connection they both felt the first time they meet. It’s a bit of a conundrum for Daphne, Olivier is the epitome of what she dislikes about her own family - wealth and privilege.

Olivier is completely taken by Daphne and sets out to prove to her that he is nothing like her family. Just because he is successful doesn’t mean he has forgotten where he came from. He plans to bide his time to slowly woo her into seeing that together they could be truly amazing.

This is the 9th and final story in the Chicago Blaze series and I’m so glad it was Olivier :) The perfect way to end this fun reading journey.

At last Olivier Durand gets his happily ever after!

I loved when Olivier and Daphne finally got together—that they finally realized that they had so much more in common than not. And once they did, wowza! Allllll the feels!

I loved getting to know Olivier better. Learning more about his background and what drives him to succeed. I love how much his players and employees respect him and adore him too.

Though, I have to admit, I struggled a bit to warm up to Daphne. While I understood her hesitancy to become involved with Olivier, I found myself wanting to sit her down and tell her that they both wanted the same things. That they both wanted to help people and make the world a better place—and that it takes money to make it happen. And Olivier, even though he was ridiculously wealthy, wasn’t just throwing his money at a cause—he was giving money to causes he truly believed in. And hold his wealth against him was only hurting her—and holding her back from getting her happily ever after!

But when Daphne finally opened her eyes and her heart, man, things with Olivier were off and running! I fell in love right along with them and my frustrations with Daphne were completely forgotten.

And now we have a new series to look forward to and I can’t wait! ~ Missy, 4 stars

Olivier is the final book in the Chicago Blaze Series and what a perfect story to tie everything together with because this is owner of the Blaze and Daphne story. My only regret with this book is it ended way to soon and I wanted more but all that’s means is I will certainly be re reading this series because I love every member of the Blaze Hockey Team and I loved reading each and everyone of their stories.
Olivier may be rich and powerful but that doesn’t stop him coming to the rescue of Daphne when he comes across a road accident and he risks all my pulling her out of a burning car. Daphne comes from a wealthy family but she has put that life behind her, she instantly dislikes anyone with money but what she doesn’t know is Oliver will do what ever is needed to get what he wants because he wasn’t always rich, he has had to fight to get to were he is now. So will the attraction this couple share give them a chance at love or will money tear them apart....
This book ticked all my boxes, I swooned and I sighed, I smiled and I giggled as I joined this couple on their journey, it was wonderful getting to know the owner of the team I have come to love and it was also fantastic to catch up with the team but what took this book to another level was the love this couple shared even when they didn’t realise it themselves. Great job from the very talented Brenda Rothert and I’m excited for her next series.

5 star Review Olivier (Chicago Blaze #9) by Brenda Rothert

From start to finish Brenda Rothert drew me in and held me captive with the story she wove about Olivier Durand and Daphne Barrington . This is the ninth book in the Chicago Blaze Hockey Romance series and was a fabulous addition.
Although Olivier is not a particularly long book, Ms.Rothert certainly packed a lot into it. I knew that the woman who captured his heart would need to be special and Daphne is certainly that.
Olivier is the owner of the Chicago Blaze team and when he rescues Daphne from her burning car, someone captures it on video and it goes viral. Olivier is attracted to the beautiful Daphne and is determined to have her, however Daphne is equally determined to have nothing to do with the wealthy hockey owner.
However the attraction that sizzles between Olivier and Daphne is explosive and once Olivier convinces Daphne to take a chance on him, all bets are off.
I loved these characters and it was wonderful to see familiar faces make an appearance as Olivier and Daphne finally get the happily every after that they deserve.
This is one of my favourite hockey series and I am sad to see it end with this book but Ms.Rothert certainly ended the series on a high.

I have to say that we did indeed enjoy this story.
Oliver was a character that was so easy to fall in love with, that man had such a kind and giving heart and if that was not enough the way he put his daughter first in their life just melted my heart.

Daphne was a character who you had to warm up to, she was not one of those you instantly love or even like. You love Daphne for her huge and generous heart but, her constant protestations about the wealthy got old real fast and became annoying she had no right throwing shade at Oliver without even getting to know the man first yes, he was wealthy but, he was not like those she chose to hate because of that wealth. With that being said, you had to admire her for her Independence to breakaway from the toxic things in her life and carve out a rewarding life for herself that made her happy and one she loved. Oliver, on the other hand, just won Daphne over with his devastating charm!

Overall the story on the whole was a lot of fun especially Daphne grandmother she was a hoot who made us laugh. Oliver was a sweetheart and although fate brought this couple together, he was a one to make them a family. The story itself though was filled with a ton of realities people face today, and it's a reminder that we need those generous souls like Daphne and Oliver to make the world a better place to live.

I love Brenda’s books and I think I have read just about everyone of them. This is the final book in the Chicago Blaze series and I’m really sad to see it end. Instead of a player, this book is about the owner of the team, Olivier Durand. His life is entwined with that of Daphne Barrington, daughter of a well know politician and social activist in her own right, when he saves her from a burning vehicle, risking his own life in the process. They are both young, single, attractive people so of course the press gets hold of this and they become famous, and is there a romance?

Surprisingly enough there is an attraction but neither of them want it to be known and Daphne in particular wants nothing to do with some wealthy millionaire. She’s lived with that all her life and doesn’t approve of the lifestyle at all.

As I said, I think I’ve read all of Brenda’s books and have liked quite a few. This one is right up there with the best of them. I read it a while and I’ve read a number of other books since then and I still remember this one very well. So it’s getting a 5. I’m sad to see this series end but I know whatever she comes up with next, I’ll be reading it.

Series: Chicago Blaze #9
Rating: 3 stars - I liked it

When Olivier Durand saves Daphne from a car accident, her whole life changes. She is determined to be single after her nasty breakup with her ex-fiancé but Olivier is determined to show Daphne that he is worth the chance.

This was a quick sports romance. Olivier is the owner of Chicago Blaze and spends his life managing his various businesses and raising his 16 year old daughter. I liked Olivier in the previous books and like him even more now. He is a hard worker, a great father, and very generous with his money. My only complaint with him was that I felt in the beginning of his relationship with Daphne it was a little uncomfortable, for me at least, that he kept giving money to charities in order to convince her to see him. I did think he was a great dad though and wish my father had been that supportive when I was 16.

Daphne is the daughter of a senator and has spent her life wanting to get away from the wealth and privilege that she grew up in. I had some issues with Daphne. I liked that she was determined to help as many people as she could and worked at a homeless shelter. Her reasoning for pushing Olivier away because of his money was a little childish, especially after she got to know him and learned he earned his money with hard work. She was just a very judgmental woman towards anyone with money, but considering how her parents are it wasn’t extremely surprising that she had so many issues with billionaires.

Their romance was slow and enjoyable outside of those few issues. I think they made a good couple and will do a lot of good for the people of Chicago. Overall, a good ending for this series and I look forward to reading the next hockey series from Rothert.

Trigger Warnings: Daphne’s parents are very toxic. Car accident. Olivier’s daughter has depression.

This is the finale of the series and you can easily read this as a stand alone. I don't know what that says about the book. It was an ok way to end the series. We see a few of the players from previous books. But this book is about the owner so there is very little hockey happening.

Daphne and Olivier meet in the most tragic of circumstances. That day allows for a niggle of energy to run between them. Little does Olivier know, but he has his work cut out for him Daphne is not about to get involved with anyone who represents her parent's lifestyle.

There was some chemistry there but I got more of a sense of common ground between them vs actual lust/love happening. Things improved by the end of the book. They seemed more connected.

I am a fan of reading series completely through. So I won't say to just skip this book. It was my least favorite of the bunch.

I loved this book! Olivier and Daphne are perfect for each other I thought. I felt bad for Daphne and what she went through with her ex, and her parents are something else. I loved her grandma, she was a hoot! You can’t help but fall in love with Olivier. He is such a wonderful father, caring hockey team owner, and giving to others. Most people don’t meet the way these two did with Olivier pulling Daphne out of a burning car after her wreck. Even though Daphne comes from rich parents, she dislikes people with money. She works to help homeless people get food, clothing, and other things they need. Olivier had an uphill battle to get Daphne look at him since he was a billionaire. What I loved about him was that he was poor growing up and was a self made man that never forgets where he came from. I strongly encourage you to read the book. I was given a copy and voluntarily wrote a review.

@brendarothert has quickly become one of my favorite #hockeyromance authors! The entire Chicago Blaze series was an emotional roller coaster ending up with the enigmatic owner himself, #Olivier, (who we see glimpses of throughout so go read the other books first!). He and Daphne meet under the extreme circumstances of a potentially fatal car accident (actually at the end of #Kit, book 8). You’d think our couple’s #HEA could throw them a bone after that but think again! These two face challenge after challenge, some self-imposed, some externally unavoidable on the journey to happily-ever-after. 🥰

Olivier is the newest addition to my #bookboyfriend top-ten. He’s a mature, realistic, thoughtful, swoony AF single dad. Daphne got on my last MF nerve sometimes. 🤬 And just when I wanted to give up on her, she pulled her adorable head out of her perfect behind and realized what a fantastic piece of manliness she had! Thank goodness! 😈

🥺 I’m so sad that the #ChicagoBlazeseries is over! But excited for those #SinCitySaints!😇

This was a perfect ending to the series (though if I’m being honest, I would always want more). But goodness, I just completely fell head over heels for Olivier 😍. I mean, how can you not?! He’s handsome, charming, rich, goes out of his way for you/anyone, and oh yeah, rushes into a burning car to save a complete stranger. I mean come on!! Love!!! ❤️ Daphne is strong willed, smart and oh so stubborn, especially when it comes her feelings for Olivier. But I totally loved them together. And especially how Olivier breaks down her walls. Loved!!! Can’t wait for the new series...that might make this ending bearable.

This book didn’t meet my expectations. I had a hard time connecting with Daphne. I liked Olivier and Grandma Jo. Can’t stop imaging Maggie Smith as her grandma. 😂

Some things didn’t add up in this book. There are 2 things mentioned that could cause drama for this couple: the cheating ex Aiden and the daughter Giselle. In the beginning of the book Aiden makes his appearance, not wanting to believe the engagement was over since he was caught cheating on Daphne. I was in for some OM drama. The appearance was the last time we saw him in the entire book. So no drama here. Then there’s Olivier’s daughter Giselle. Early on in the book she mentions that she wants it to be just her and her dad. No other woman living with them. And if he has to start dating then please casual and nothing serious. She’s not a main character in this book, we only have glimpses of her. So when did she do a 180 and welcomes Daphne with open arms? No drama here.

Olivier was a sweetheart. Yes he’s a billionaire, but his heart is what counts. It took Daphne so long to see him for who he is. She says she doesn’t care for his money and that him being a billionaire stands in the way of them being together. I thought it was shallow to not look beyond his money and accept him for who he is. Olivier didn’t seem to mind. He was quite happy he met a woman who wasn’t interested in his bank account. But then again it’s the same bank account that causes a wedge between him and Daphne. But only because Daphne lets it.

Safe read. No OW/OM drama, cheating between both MC’s or sex with OP. Hero not a manwhore, dated casually in the weekends since his divorce but celibate for over a year. Heroine ended her engagement couple of months ago.

Three stars because the OliDaph nickname was the absolute worst possible combination for a couple name. Daphnier would have been better. Durrington would have been better. Fireandice would have been fantastic. I seriously got irritated every time I read that stupid name.

And Daphne's dithering was just annoying. I understand her parents are horrible people, but she's never met nice rich people before? Seriously? Her sister, who is he best friend, is a nice rich person. It makes the central conflict seem forced.

I almost knocked it down to two stars for the stupid rock falling off the building and hitting Olivier. It was such a contrived way to get the families together. I'm just glad he didn't end up with amnesia, too. I probably would have thrown the book at that point.

I hate when authors include a scene in a book that serves no purpose for the story but is included to set up their next series. Yes, I understand why authors do it from a money perspective, but I wish they could do it more skillfully.

After reading this, I feel like I should rate it even lower. That's it. Down to two stars. Sorry, Olivier, you were a great guy, but your story just didn't live up to you.

Oliver by Brenda Rothert is the ninth book in the Chicago Blaze Series, this second chance at love sports romance is entertaining, sassy and swoon worthy.

Oliver Durand has it all, the looks and wealth to attract any woman he could possibly want. As a billionaire tech company owner, Oliver loves the challenge of turning around struggling companies and he has been very successful at it. It is with that success that he is able to acquire the Chicago Blaze, the NHL hockey team. He is proud of what he has been able to accomplish with the team and in his other businesses that he has mantra that’s never failed him - always be willing to walk away. A mantra that’s about to be tested and change his life forever.

On his way to a meeting, he witnesses a car flipped over and in flames. From the chaos surrounding the accident, there is someone inside the car and on instinct he rushes over to see if he can help. There is an unconscious woman inside and he risks his life to pull her out, before falling unconscious himself. It would take a few weeks later for Oliver to find out how a video of him rescuing the woman has gone viral. There is even a hashtag with their names and fans all over the world wanting them to be together and he has to put an end to it. Nothing could have prepared him for the pull that he feels for Daphne Barrintong. She is like no one else he’s ever met before, she is outspoken, stubborn and wants absolutely nothing to do with him. He has always been willing to walk away, but he can’t seem to do that with Daphne. He wants to make her his no matter how long it takes to get her to accept that they might just be perfect for each other.

As the daughter of a US Senator, Daphne Barrington grew up in privilege environment, always surrounded by the nicest things money could buy. But despite her upbringing, she wants nothing to do with the wealth that her family has. Having majored in social work, she works at a nonprofit clinic that serves the homeless. She is a proud social justice warrior and after witnessing how privileged her parents are and out of touch with the wold around them, Daphne doesn’t want to follow their steps. But Oliver saved her life and she is willing to thank him in person and walk away. Yet, things change when he asks her out and she declines his offer. She is still finding her way after her breakup with her ex-finance and the accident that she is just not ready to jump into another relationship. Daphne quickly learns that Oliver doesn’t give up easily and soon he is donating money to charities and volunteer at soup kitchens just to be with her. It’s the more time they spend together and a turn of events to make her see that there is a lot more to Oliver than his wealth.

I truly enjoyed reading Oliver, it was entertaining and fun to read. On the outside both Oliver and Daphne might look like they have it all, but their backgrounds are different. Oliver has worked really hard to get to where he is and he has reached the success that his parents never had. On the other hand, Daphne might have grown up in wealthy environment, yet working at a nonprofit allows her to see things in a different perspective. They have so much chemistry and they balance each other out. It is an age-gap story, Oliver is older than Daphne and it’t not an issue in the book. Although we get a good ending, I wish the author could have given us a more detail look into their future, it would have the ending a little bit better. Other than that, the story was steamy and romantic. I would highly recommend it if you love sports romances, it will not disappoint! :)

Through eight previous books Ms. Rothert has crafted an entertaining series of sports romances set in the hockey world. With its sexy hockey players (each with a delicious personality) and the discovery of their better halves through romances that utterly charmed me, this series has captivated me from its very first release with the characters becoming like family. With this ninth installment everything comes full circle and by the turn of the final page I was left satisfied with an ending tied up with a nice bow.

Olivier Durand has been on the outskirts of the Chicago Blaze hockey world from the very beginning, a delicious temptation always there when his players need him. He's a man of wealth who, from the outside, seems to have a life of ease. The real man though is much deeper, a loyal man who's worked hard for everything he has. He's a kindhearted single father too, raising his daughter with the strong ethics he has in a relationship that endeared him to me. Arriving on the scene of a car accident changes his life irrevocably though, introducing him to the one woman he can't easily attain in a combustible connection that builds with each turn of the page. Olivier is a drool-worthy hero, one happy being in the background, and it's clear that he's a bit uncomfortable with the notoriety of saving Daphne. Meeting her though creates all sorts of sparks, has him wooing her in ways he's never had to before. With her, the way to her heart isn't through fame but through his good heart on display throughout their journey to HEA.

Daphne Barrington comes from a family of wealth, but turned her back on it long ago. She now devotes herself to helping others, looking down on those who flaunt their wealth, in a satisfying life that shows her generous heart. The day she's rescued from her burning car though is the day she's introduced to a man who isn't who he seems. Though her savior is a billionaire he's not the arrogant, uncaring, person of wealth she's known throughout her life. Through his sweet and sensual wooing he slowly works his way into her heart. Through donations to her favorite charities, and heartfelt conversations, they discover the substance beneath the surface of each of them in a romance that was a delight to see grow.

The road to romance is a hard-fought one due to Daphne's past. Feeling betrayed by her ex, and by her parents, she clearly has a wall around her heart. The biggest support she has is that of her grandmother, a larger than life elderly woman who often made me smile. Daphne's caution meant that Olivier had to be at the top of his game...but it's clear that he's ready to play to win, wooing her in an unconventional manner that was charming. This pair was a great couple whose first meeting was unforgettably explosive. From there they settled into a sweet and sexy journey of getting to know each other, a journey that had a nice flow and virtually no angst. On a whole this was a great way to spend the afternoon...lost in a sweet dream of love and HEA for two very likable people. Along with this appealing main couple were equally delightful glimpses of past characters, players and their mates who acted in support of a man deserving of their loyalty. Through each new release the Chicago Blaze series has been immensely satisfying, and though I'm said to see it end, it ended with a wonderful conclusion that has me excited for what Ms. Rothert has planned next!

I’m sad because this is the last book in the Chicago Blaze hockey series and it couldn’t have been better. I’ve loved all the books in this series, all the hockey players and their wives. The stories have all been fantastic, and how appropriate that the last book is about the team owner. Previously, Olivier has shown what a caring boss he is, and he has won the players’ loyalty and appreciation. In this story, I loved Olivier and Daphne and Giselle and Grandma Jo. The story was lovely and a great final book for the series. I’m sorry to leave this fine group of athletes and the women they love but the author promised they’ll make appearances on the next hockey series, so yay!

Olivier is a millionaire, but he came from nothing, so he has a clear idea of what is truly important, and it’s not making money just because. He has a teenage daughter, Giselle, who lives with him and she is his priority. All the employees in his company are people important to him, not just peons to do his bidding. They are all known by name and he knows their families too. So when he falls for Daphne, they are like a match in heaven.

Their first meeting is catastrophic, Daphne was in horrific car crash and would have died if not for Olivier saving her. This was important to bring them together, it was like fate threw them together. The publicity surrounding them due to the crash and rescue was invasive, so they decided to have a meet and greet and let one reporter cover. Cue #olidaph in social media! But the meeting caused another reaction, Olivier fell for Daphne. He hadn’t been so attracted to a woman in a long time, but she didn’t seem to feel the same. As Olivier tried to court her, she answered with a zinger: “you’re too rich”.

Daphne is given to philanthropic causes, she works in a non-profit that helps the poor, drug addicts, and displaced persons. She shuns anything that has anything to do with riches, luxuries and entitled people. Her parents are a constant source of irritation with their entitlement and shady code of morals that come from living in politics (her father is a Senator). However, her Grandma Jo is a hoot! Irreverent, strong and driven, she’s a force to be seen and admired. I loved seeing her become BFF’s with Olivier’s daughter. It was like a double trouble combo!

I enjoyed seeing Olivier work hard to win his woman, and enjoyed seeing Daphne falling for the man in spite of her reluctance. He was just too good a person not to fall for. She witnesses so many charitable actions, his devotion to his teenage daughter, his tolerance for her parents, and his incredible generosity for those less fortunate.

This story was just too good and it ended much too soon. I love this author’s writing! The only good thing is that now a re-read of the series and enjoyment of all these fabulous men and their wonderful spouses is now in order. Looking forward to the next series and more fantastic stories!

As much as I lament the end of the Chicago Blaze series, I am so happy that we got a different perspective of the club. Brenda Rothert brought the story full circle, gave readers a new view, and it's one from the owners box. By focusing on Blaze owner, Olivier Durand, we get to see the business side of the sport and the impact being in the limelight gives Olivier a new view of the players.

Olivier is a true renaissance man. An astute business man, he lives his life behind the scenes. The Blaze hockey club is only one of his many ventures, but it's the one he seems most passionate about. He's also a father to a teenage girl, and he suddenly finds himself at the center of a media storm when he plays hero to a women in imminent danger. After he pulls Daphne Carrington from her burning car, the press and public go crazy with a new hashtag, #olidaph, in honor of their romance.

Olivier could get behind making that happen, but Daphne has some strong opinions about the uber rich. Daphne, who grew up privileged, has no interest in the lifestyle and quickly forms an idea that Olivier could never be a man she could see herself with.

"...I don’t come with a price, Olivier.”
“I know that. But it’s easier for you to take what you really want from me by telling yourself it’s not just for you.”

There's much to love about this story. Olivier's relationship with his daughter Giselle is particularly heartwarming. Daphne's relationship with her sister Jules made me smile, and gave Daphne some perspective. Her past relationship was enough to cause her pause and to question her judgement, but Olivier's actions are impressive. He really shows her how good of a heart he has. Even though we can see how good they could be together, and while Daphne can't help but feel the chemistry, her prejudice gets in the way. It's only when she recognizes the truth to Olivier's upbringing and how hard he tries to balance what he "has" with how uses his resources for good that she start to see the light, and that #olidaph might just be a thing.

The series has consistently featured some of my favorite covers, but I guess there was no reason to showcase Olivier's chiseled body, after all it's his heart and intentions that won me over. I wholeheartedly recommend this book and the entire series. 5 Stars!

Olivier
The final book in the Chicago Blaze hockey series.
I have throughly enjoyed this series. Like all series, there were highs and lows. This one fell somewhere in the middle, though, closer to the top.
Olivier has been a great character since he came on the scene earlier in the series. He is not your typical billionaire. He grew up in a family that struggled financially, everything he has, he’s earned. His money has allowed him to give his teenage daughter a good life. Allowed himself to indulge in a few things for himself. Like his hockey team. He helps others who are less fortunate without wanting the attention that often goes along with such actions. He is one of the few truly good guys.
Daphne on the other hand grew up in a privileged household. Her parents were born into their own wealthy families. She saw the ugly, selfish side of what money can do. Her parents were often an embarrassment to her with their words and their actions. It’s caused her to turn away from anyone with money. She lived a very humble life, working to help people who have fallen on hard times.
I liked both of these characters. They were both, in their own way, real. Both were good people, but neither was perfect.
Olivier learned he couldn’t approach Daphne in the same way he would any other women. She was not impressed by his money. He had to work for her attention. That and all the donations he made to her various causes.
Daphne needed to see that not all people who have money are selfish and blind to others in the world. She had to learn to let Olivier in, let him do nice things for her without expecting anything from her in return.
I loved Daphne’s Grandma Jo. She was a hoot.
Giselle was a typical, brooding teen. She kept Olivier real. He was a great dad, doing his best to parent a teen with insecurities.
A good story. Daphne, at times drove me nuts, with her close minded thinking about rich people. But overall a great way to finish off the series.
Dual points of view.
No cheating.
HEA.
There is an epilogue but it seems to only show that, eight months later they are still together and sets up the next hockey series coming from this author.

This book is a bit different from the others in the series, since it isn't about a player. It's about the team owner! (I know, right?!?) I was afraid this book would lack the excitement, the adrenaline that the player books provided in spades. But I should have known better! This author took the story of a team owner and turned it into a story that is sure to be a fan favorite! It's every bit as necessary to the series as every other book!

Daphne is anything but typical. She was raised is the world of the privileged elite. But her heart is that of a save the earth, free spirited flower child! She doesn't fit in anywhere, but really, that's how she likes it. She is who she is and makes not apologies for it. When she is saved from certain death by Olivier, her world is thrown into chaos.

Olivier is comfortable with his life. He's confident in who he is and what he wants. But he also isn't what he first appears to be. He isn't just a high powered corporate mogul. In truth, he isn't anything like I first expected! Definitely totally swoon-worthy!

Olivier and Daphne actually are perfect for each other, much more closely aligned than I first thought. Their story had a sense of rightness to it, almost inevitableness. I enjoyed their story, their chemistry, their almost flawless connection. This was an amazing story, one that I just couldn't read fast enough, but didn't want to end!

This was such a good story, I loved it. This story starts out on high drama & doesn’t let up until the end. I felt like I was riding a wave that just kept going & going. Olivier Durand proves he’s more than just a money man when he rescues Daphne Barrington from her burning car after an accident. As they struggle with Twitter fame & everyone thinking they should be a couple, they also realize they have great chemistry. Daphne is unsure about Olivier because he’s rich but she soon learns he’s nothing like her family. I loved Olivier, his character was above reproach & was strong & steadfast in his love for his daughter but also for the hockey team he owns & his work. Daphne was a work in progress as she battles her parents lack of understanding her & her career, as well battling herself for her unwanted feelings towards Olivier. She’s definitely strong because she walked away from her affluent family to work with the homeless but she’s also soft & sweet & loving when it comes to helping Olivier’s daughter when he’s seriously injured in a freak accident. As they get closer they finally see that they can have a happy medium between too much & not enough. My favourite part of the story that proved to me that Olivier was truly a wonderful man was his interaction with his daughter after a humiliating incident at school & how he didn’t shame her but took her out of the situation to help her heal. I enjoyed how this story was told & I actually kept waiting for something to happen to break them up but was very happy when it didn’t happen. This was a very good ending to a great series. Definitely recommend.

I have read this author before but not for many years and not this series at all. But this book sounded so good and a bit different from normal sports romances so I was excited to read it and let me tell you it was absolutely different and has not much in sports in it but it was a page turner and so romantic that I could not put it down and even when it ended I was ready to re-read because it was that terrific.

It starts off with a bang when the hero, Olivier Durand is in his car and there is a terrible accident ahead. He decides to

help out and thats when he finds a woman trapped in a car thats caught on fire. Olivier is the owners of a hockey team and is very wealthy at age 41 and is a single dad to a 16-year old daughter. The woman trapped is Daphne Barrington, age 31 and who comes from a wealthy and political family but works to help the homeless.

The world falls in love with a these two and so they get a lot of press after the accident. They eventually meet and Olivier falls hard but Daphne is just out of a bad romance and wants time to think about it and get to know Olivier.

This is pretty much an insta-love/lust story except that each has their own reasons for holding back and the author did a great job bringing these two characters to life and showing us how no matter how much money you have, no ones life is perfect and we all have to work for our bit of happiness.

I received a free ARC copy of this book from the author prior to release and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I was first introduced to author Brenda Rothert via her hockey series, Fire On Ice, and was so happy that she brought us back to the arena when she gave us the Chicago Blaze series. Each book, each character, has been so unique and such an integral part of the team, and I was sorry to see the end of it. But then, then...Brenda delighted all of us die-hard Blazers by giving us the story of Olivier Durand, successful businessman and owner of the Blaze. He's popped up here and there throughout the series, and I am so glad that he spoke loudly enough in Brenda's author ear to earn his own book, because he is all that. Smart, successful, not a kid, great dad, hockey fan, and, oh, yes, hot. I mean, total package. Plus, y'all, he's French. Yep. Color me a goner.

Then there's Daphne Barrington. She's pretty awesome in her own right. Not one to rest in her privilege, Daphne is working to do real good in the world, and is smart, savvy, and beautiful as well. Sure, they may have been introduced to each other in a less-than-desirable situation, but it doesn't take long for Olivier to realize that Daphne is just what, or who, he needs in his life, and is willing to do what it takes to help her feel the same.

Brenda did such a nice job with this story. Rather than being simply a wrap-up to an enjoyable series, OLIVIER is the story that was needed to bring things full circle, and also segue to the next awesome series, Sin City Saints. More hockey, more awesomeness, and I can't wait. In the meantime, if you haven't had a chance to read all about Olivier and his Blaze players, do it. Sports, love, steam, all mixed nicely, and worth the read. Enjoy... ❤️

My new favorite Chicago Blaze story!! Olivier is the ninth standalone story in the Chicago Blazer series. It is an absolute favorite series. Olivier is the billionaire team owner and a single dad with his focus on helping his daughter navigate some unique difficulties.
When Olivier is in the right place to save the life of Senator Barrington’s daughter Daphne they end up all over news and social media as a hashtag.
Daphne has come to resent and fight against the privilege her parents flaunt with their money and status and she resists Olivier’s advances because of his own wealth.

“He’s just about perfect. I know that,” I say. “After I ended things with Aiden, I planned to be single and focus on myself for a while. And then Olivier…” I smile and shake my head. “The billionaire owner of the Chicago Blaze saved my life in dramatic fashion, and he happens to be incredibly attractive, an amazing dad and a generous person. And he’s also into me.”

I have absolutely loved all of the standalone stories in this series and Olivier is my top fave!
Sweet and swoony with low angst but a story that kept me turning the pages. I devoured this book in one day. I just didn’t want it to end!!! Give me more, Ms. Rothert!!!!

Olivier is the owner of the Blaze.. What a fun way to end the Blaze's series.

Olivier comes upon a horrific accident and runs to help. There is a car on fire and a woman stuck inside. No way is he going to let her die.. He and other bystanders do all they can to save Daphne from the burning car. Daphne is no stranger to the media, her dad is politician and the family is always being put in the limelight. When media shows images of the rescue, the make the #Olidaph and wonder if these two would actually be anything.

Daphne works for a non profit and does everything on her own and wants nothing to do with her family's money.. When Olivier starts making moves on her she wants nothing to do with him of the way she was raised she knows money can make people not so nice or good.. Olivier does all he can to show her he is nothing like her parents. The more he tries the more she breaks down her walls..

Olivier is not only running his businesses he is raising his sixteen year old daughter. He is trying al he can to make his daughter happy and to try and win Daphne too.

Can he make the two most important women in his life happy ?

Grandma Jo was absolutely amazing, and the sneak peek at the end was great!

Ever since I finished “Kit” last year, I have been dying for Olivier’s story. Brenda left us with an amazing cliffhanger and set up for his story.

Olivier is the owner of the Chicago Blaze hockey team and did something heroic. When stuck in traffic because of an accident, he goes to see if he can do anything to help. He risks his life to save the life of a woman before the car explodes. Later when he and Daphne meet, there’s an obvious attraction but after being cheated on by her ex, Daphne is hesitant to start anything.

Olivier has to be one of my favorites characters that I’ve read so far this year. Yes, he’s insanely rich. But he’s such a good guy. He came up from a small countryside town in France and earned everything he had. He’s also an amazing father to his teenage daughter. And I loved Daphne too. She’s a strong, independent woman who is devoting her life to help the less fortunate.

This is unfortunately the last book in the Chicago Blaze series and it wraps up beautifully. But Brenda isn’t done with the hockey world yet. She left us with a teaser for her next series coming in August.
