*NEW* Springfield Armory XD-M Elite 10mm Compact OSP

September 30, 2021
Kevin "KJ" Jarnagin

These are the good ol’ days of firearms. Companies crank out new guns with impressive haste. Each company attempting to outdo the other, but it is all in good sport. Who’s to benefit? Shooters of course. Springfield Armory is continually in the fray, launching the XD-M Elite 10mm Compact OSP. Yes, a compact red-dot ready 10mm. We all win!

The 10mm hid in the shadows for a few years, but a select few companies have held the caliber in high regard, producing a consistent flow of 10mm offerings. Springfield Armory is at the forefront of those companies.

I remember a couple years ago Springfield Armory launched the 1911 Ronin in 10mm. I’m sure most of you remember this smooth-shooting 10, but what I remember is staring down the fiber optic front sight at a doe that stood at 40 yards. I finally did my job and the Ronin connected. I instantly fell in love with the 10mm caliber.

That was my first experience with the 10mm, and it wasn’t my last. I carried a 10mm into the backcountry of Alaska, but those guns were just a bit bulkier than I needed. In steps the XD-M Elite 10mm Compact OSP.

At 3.8-inches long, the XD-M Elite 10mm Compact is purpose built for the everyday carry user or the backpacker that requires a self-protection firearm. When you combine the stopping power of the 10mm caliber with a HEX Dragonfly red dot you’ve got yourself a reliable system to take two-or-four-legged critters.

For me, I look at ways to cut down on my backcountry packing system. Packing along a big, full size 10mm is a difficult task especially how I carry.

I’m an AIWB concealed carrier so this gun makes perfect sense for my hunting escapades. Plus, it transitions beautifully to the streets. A flawless passage from hunter to everyday civilian without having to change out holster or firearm. What’s not to love about that combo?

Here are the details you need to know about the newest 10mm offering from Springfield Armory.

Certainly, this is a strong showing for Springfield Armory. This is a complete package for those looking to decrease the size of their carry pistol but increase the power behind the gun.

Here is something I did notice on the gun. My hands are sizable, and the grip is shorter. This doesn’t bother me all that much, but I do notice it. Also, the fiber optic front sight and U-Dot rear sight can’t be seen if you decide to utilize the HEX Dragonfly. However, these are dovetail sights, which means they can be replaced with taller sights if you’d like.

The XD-M Elite 10mm Compact OSP is meant for use. This isn’t some safe queen. It’s functional and is quite capable of protecting you with power and precision. Keep ‘em coming Springfield Armory because there is no shortage of 10mm fans out there. ~ KJ
