He wasn’t lost — he was flying with style.
Southwest Airlines staff went above and beyond to return a 2-year-old’s California tot’s Buzz Lightyear action figure — after they found it on a plane in Little Rock, Arkansas, according to reports.
Hagen Davis’s mom Ashley Davis said she realized the toy was MIA when the family got to the rental car after landing in Dallas. By then, their plane had already decamped for Little Rock, she told CBS Sacramento.
“That’s when the realization hit me that he’s still in the airport with the plane that’s probably not there anymore because it was continuing on to Arkansas,” the 31-year-old mom recalled.
“I was like, ‘Well Buzz had to go on a space mission, he’s still on the airplane.'”
Fortunately, a ramp agent in Little Rock noticed the toy — and that “Hagen” was written on its boot. Staff were able to track down the only person by that name who had traveled that day, according to a Facebook post.
Southwest staff played along with the bit, mailing Hagen his toy in a decorated box with a handwritten dispatch, along with photos of the action figure “posing” in front of the airline’s planes.
“To Commander Hagen,” the note said in all-caps. “I am very excited to return to you upon completing my mission. I was able to explore the airport and spaceport in Little Rock, Arkansas while I was away and I have included photos of my adventure.”
“My journey has taught me a lot but I am so thankful to return to my buddy.”
Video posted on Southwest’s Facebook page showed Hagen’s thrilled reaction when he saw his name written on the toy’s bottom.
“There’s definitely not enough good in this world, and for someone to take the time out of their day to do that for strangers means the world to us,” his grateful mom told ABC10 Sacramento.
The family, from Elk Grove, California had been in Texas for a funeral.
“To have somebody almost across the country from us do all of that was absolutely amazing,” she told the station.
“I have just been bawling my eyes out with the feels and the love. At this day and age where we’re kind of at right now in our nation, it’s really amazing to know there are people out there who will still do good.”
