RFL set to launch investigation into alleged semi-final crowd abuse

The RFL are set to investigate an allegation into sexist abuse at Featherstone Rovers’ home game against Halifax Panthers on Saturday night.

Rovers ran out 42-10 winners, but the game was marred by apparent sexism aimed at women stood in the Halifax away end of the Millennium Stadium.

A spokesman from the RFL – when contacted by Serious About Rugby League – responded: “We’ve been made aware of it, we will wait for the Ground Safety Officer Report in the usual way and make a decision in terms of looking into it further.”

For Rovers, their dominant victory ensured a tense play-off final away at Toulouse next Saturday night, but they won’t be wanting any potential off-field incident to mar their build-up.

Featherstone already have experience in the so-called Million Pound Game, having gone down 24-6 to Toronto Wolfpack back in 2019, whilst Toulouse will be hoping it is first time lucky at the Stade Ernest Wallon.

Another blind alley where losers want to throw a spanner in the works. Childish to say the least. 0
