There’s no other way around it: Listening to Surrender, the new album from Swedish hard rock/glam band Dead Lord, you can sense the abundant Thin Lizzy and Phil Lynott energy pulsating under the surface.
“Distance Over Time” begins the album, and well — just watch/listen to this:
Surrender is the fourth studio album from Dead Lord, released Sept. 4 via Century Media Records, and it packs quite a punch, to say the least. The throwback vibes of this band are on full display from start to finish, a barrage of guitar solos and rambunctious, high-energy anthems from the group (Adam Lindmark on drums, Martin Nordin on guitar, Ryan Kemp on bass and Hakim Krim on guitar and vocals.

Here’s another single, “Letter from St. Allen St.”:
Dead Lord is very much a band that needs to be heard loud. In non-pandemic circumstances, the group would no doubt be traveling around the world, bringing its raucous rock and roll to the masses — but, like everybody else, they must wait to unleash that live power, relegating the rest of us to listen via digital streaming platforms or otherwise.

Thankfully for the rest of us, the band has offered up some music videos to accompany the songs — including the ones above, as well as this one, for “Evil Always Wins,” which depicts a man enjoying a platter of hot dogs in the middle of the woods while listening to the song … and absolutely NOTHING else.
So simple, yet so profound.
As said earlier, this is a band to experience live — so make an effort to do so, once that is able to happen again. And, in the meantime, listen to Surrender, preferably loudly.
