Gazprom’s gas transit to Slovakia via Ukraine this year 67% down

Gas transit from Russia to Slovakia through Ukraine drops 67% from year-start.

This was reported by Interfax with reference to the Slovak gas transmission operator, Eustream, Ukrinform wrote.

On December 31, 2021, the corresponding application was for 83.8 million cubic meters, and on January 1, 2022, it fell to 49.5 million cubic meters, on January 2 – to 35.5 million cubic meters, and on January 3 – for 26.1 million cubic meters.

In general, in 2021, the average daily shipment amounted to 76.6 million cubic meters.

According to the operative data of Gas Transmission System Operator of Ukraine the gas flow through the Sudzha gas metering station and the Sokhranivka GMS on the Russian-Ukrainian border on December 31, 2021, amounted to 103.5 million cubic meters, on January 1, 2022, it was 76 million cubic meters, and on January 2 it stood at 61.3 million cubic meters.

Gas TSO of Ukraine CEO Sergiy Makogon wrote on his Facebook page that the total transit of natural gas via Ukraine's GTS in 2021 amounted to 41.7 billion cubic meters with a total reserved capacity of 44.4 billion cubic meters for entry points from Russia and 45.8 billion cubic meters for exit points to the EU and Moldova. That is, in 2021 Gazprom used the reserved capacity of the Ukrainian GTS at entry points by 93.8%, and by 91% at exit points.

As Ukrinform earlier reported, Deputy Russian Foreign Minister Alexander Pankin said that the process of certification of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline may be delayed or the pipe may not be certified at all.
