CLEVELAND, Ohio – Ohio’s casinos and racinos continue to break records, bringing in $192.7 million in gambling revenue for the month of October, according to reports released by the state Monday.

Ohio’s 11 casinos and racinos generated $192.7 million in gambling revenue in October, up 14% from the $169.1 million made last October and up 22% from October 2019. These totals are what is taken in, after paying out winnings but before taxes and fees.

In September ($185.3 million), August ($194.3 million), July ($211.2 million) and June ($196.8 million), gambling revenues in the state also broke records.

About one-third of this money is forwarded to the state in the form of taxes or fees.

Gambling revenues have been on the rise since casinos reopened last year. In 2020, the establishments closed from mid-March through mid-June due to COVID-19.

That growth has been felt in the Cleveland market, which saw gambling revenues rise to $61.7 million, up from $52.9 million last October.

* JACK Thistledown Racinos was up 19.6% to $16.5 million.

* JACK Cleveland Casino was up 15% to $21.5 million.

* MGM Northfield Park was up 16.7% to $23.7 million.

MGM Northfield Park had the most gambling revenue in the state in October, followed by the Hollywood Columbus ($21.48 million) and the Jack Cleveland Casino ($21.45 million).

The seven racinos, regulated by the Ohio Lottery Commission, are limited to chance-based slot machines called video lottery terminals. The totals reported by the lottery do not include what is taken in from racing bets.

Ohio’s four casinos, regulated by the Ohio Casino Control Commission, are permitted to offer a wider variety of slot machines, plus table games including poker rooms.
